Andrew Benintendi Could Be Promoted By The Boston Red Sox Very Soon

Following the promotion of Alex Bregman and David Dahl, Andrew Benintendicould be the next star prospect called up to the big leagues. The Boston Red Sox organization could use an everyday outfielder in left field, and Benintendi could be the answer.

Benintendi was drafted seventh overall by the Red Sox in the 2015 MLB Draft. Since stepping on the field as a Red Sox prospect, Benintendi has done nothing but impress. He has proven his bat is above average, possesses above average speed, and he has very good defense in centerfield. Over the past two years, he has started every game in centerfield, but the Red Sox have switched him to left field over the last two games. Many people believe this position change is prepping one of their top prospects for a move to the big leagues.

P- Felix Hernandez (vs. Pittsburgh Pirates): $8,600. The Pirates offense has struggled over the last seven days. In that time span they are batting .237, with a .297 OBP, and a .678 OPS. In 109 career at bats against Felix, the Pirates offense is batting .165, with a .229 OBP, .249 slugging percentage, and 35 strikeouts. He is coming off an injury and a rough first start, but his career numbers against the Pirates makes me very confident in this pick.

P- Ervin Santana (vs. Atlanta Braves): $7,800. In 139 career at bats against Santana, the Braves’ lineup is batting .223, with .251 OBP, .454 slugging percentage, and 28 strikeouts. Santana has been on a great hot streak recently. Over his last six starts, he owns a 2-1 record, and a 2.03 ERA.

Yankees Get A King’s Ransom From The Chicago Cubs For Aroldis Chapman

Many people believed the New York Yankees were going to be in “sell” mode this trade deadline, but today might have confirmed that notion. Reports say the Yankees have dealt four-time all-star, Aroldis Chapman, to the Chicago Cubs for what is believed to be four players. These players include the Cubs’ best prospect, Gleyber Torres, Billy McKinney, Adam Warren, and one other. I’m sure the Yankees weren’t too keen on rebuilding, but it is too hard to pass up this offer the Chicago Cubs made.

Robin Ventura has been White Sox manager longer than many Presidents have been in office. Yet despite being in charge of a losing team coming apart at the seams, he is still employed.

Meanwhile I am not happy with the Cubs looking to deal for Aroldis Chapman because of his domestic violence past.

Jose Altuve went 3 for 5 with 2 homers and 6 RBI to lead the surging Astros past the Angels, 13-3.

Jesse Hahn pitched scoreless ball into the 8th, finishing with 7 1/3 innings, 1 run and 5 hits. The bullpen would blow his lead but the A’s would go on to defeat the Rays, 3-2.

Yasmany Tomas collected 3 hits including 2 homers as Arizona won a wild 9-8 game in Cincinnati.

Steven Matz threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 6 Marlins and allowing just 4 hits as the Mets won, 3-0.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 7/25/16

P- Carlos Martinez (vs. New York Mets): $11,400. Martinez has been very reliable in daily fantasy all year long. In fact, he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start since late May. He continues to pitch deep into games, which is great in DraftKings. The Mets offense has been brutal all season long and they have struggled to produce runs over the last seven games, so this should be very favorable for Martinez.

P- Jeremy Hellickson (vs. Miami Marlins): $8,300. In 139 career at bats against Hellickson, the Marlins’ lineup is only batting .216, with a .243 OBP, and a .365 slugging percentage. Hellickson should be on his A-game with the trade deadline right around the corner if he wants to be dealt to a competing team. In his last start against the Marlins, he held them to one earned run, on five hits in eight innings pitched.

 Daily Matchups for 7/25/2016

Pitcher

STUD

Noah Syndergaard– Thor has absolutely dominated the Cardinals in the 1 start he had against them. He held them to a .067 BA (1 for 15) with 5 strikeouts and 4 groundouts. He is the best pitcher on the slate in my eyes tonight even more than the most expensive pitchers in Arrieta and Pomeranz. We are projecting Thor around 45- 50 FP tonight.

Jake Arrieta He is facing the White Sox who have really come down from earth since the beginning of the season. The White Sox are 2 games under .500 while the cubs are 21 games above. Arrieta has held the White Sox to a .217 BA (18 for 83) with a 20.9 K% and a 5.5 W%. He’s struck out 19 while giving up only 2 HRs and one triple. I like Syndergaard more but you can’t go wrong here either.

MID RANGE

Aaron SanchezHe hasn’t faced the Padres much but he’s held them to 1 hit in 8 ABs. This includes 3 groundouts, 1 single and 1 strikeout. Sanchez comes in with 125 IP, 37 walks, 110 hits allowed, 108 Ks, a 2.87 BA and 10 wins. In his last 10 starts, Sanchez has 6 50+ FP games on FD and tonight could be another one of those games.

Jake Peavy I think this could be more of a sneaky play but like him as a cheap tournament option tonight. Peavy has held the Reds to a lifetime BA of .250 (19 for 76) with a 30 K% and only a 3.8 W%. He’s struck out 24 while allowing only 4 HRs. He’s a cheap option to help pay up at other positions.

VALUE

Dallas Keuchel Now this does worry me some as Keuchel is sporting a 4.70 ERA this season but he has dominated the Yankees in the past. Keuchel has held them to a .211 BA (24 for 114) with a 27.6 K% and 34 Ks to only 3 HRs. Keuchel has 126 IP with 110 Ks and 40 walks but he’s also given up 132 hits. I’m not sure if last season was a fluke but I think he’s only a GPP option tonight.

Jeremy Hellickson He’s held the Marlins to a .209 BA (31 for 148) with a 16.2 K% and only a 3.2 W%. He’s struck out 25 Marlins while walking only 5. He’s coming off a start last week against this same team where he pitched for 8 innings, a 3.84 ERA, picking up the win and 57 FP on Fanduel.  I like him again tonight against this team that we suggested him last week.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 7/24/16

P- Jon Lester (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $10,600. In four career starts against the Brewers, Lester holds a 2.22 ERA with a 2-2 record. Lester has been impressive all year long. He currently owns a 10-4 record, with a 2.89 ERA, and 111 strikeouts in 118.1 innings pitched. Milwaukee ranks in the bottom third in the MLB against left-handed pitching this year, so this favors Lester on Sunday.

P- Rick Porcello (vs. Minnesota Twins): $9,200. Porcello has been on fire over his last four starts as he is unbeaten. In his last time out against the Twins, he gave up only one earned run over seven innings pitched. Throughout the last five years, Porcello has dominated every hitter in the Twins’ lineup, so I don’t see anything different happening on Sunday.

P- Max Scherzer (vs. San Diego Padres): $13,100. In 112 career at bats against Scherzer, the Padres’ lineup is batting .134, with four RBIs, and a .190 OBP. Over his last nine starts, Scherzer owns a 1.61 ERA, with 81 strikeouts, and 13 walks in 61.1 innings pitched. Needless to say, he is a great start on Saturday.

P- Kendall Graveman (vs. Tampa Bay Rays): $7,900. Over his last seven starts, Graveman owns a 4-0 record, with a 2.64 ERA. While he hasn’t faced the Rays’ lineup very much throughout his career, he has shown some success by holding them to a .213 batting average and a .368 slugging percentage.

TRADE RUMORS: Cleveland Indians Looking To Acquire Jonathan Lucroy

It is no secret the Cleveland Indians are looking to acquire an elite bat near the trade deadline. There were rumors the Tribe were going after Cincinnati Reds’ outfielder, Jay Bruce, but it looks like their attention is focused elsewhere at the moment. The latest rumor is the Indians are making a strong push to trade for Milwaukee Brewers’ catcher, Jonathan Lucroy.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 7/21/16

P – Adam Wainwright (vs. San Diego Padres): $10,400. First of all, Thursday’s slate is brutal for pitching match-ups because there are only nine games. With that said, Wainwright is by far the hottest pitcher taking the mound. Over his last three starts, he owns a 0.39 ERA, 3-0 record, and 19 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched. In his last start, he shutout the Marlins while only giving up three hits. In his first start against the Padres this season, he went six innings and gave up three earned runs.

P – Matt Moore (vs. Oakland A’s): $7,600. The Athletics have been very mediocre against left-handed pitcher this season (.737 OPS), so Moore should have an advantage. Moore’s strikeout numbers have been down over his last three starts, but he has gone very deep into game recently to make up for the lack of K’s. During his last start, Moore threw eight innings against the Orioles.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings – 7/19/16

P – Carlos Martinez (vs. San Diego Padres): $10,200. Martinez has been on fire recently. Over his last six starts, Martinez has allowed a total of six runs, which is just insane. Over his last three starts, he owns a 2.00 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched. The Padres lineup hasn’t faced CMart very much throughout his career, so this could bring about an element of surprise while he has been red hot.

P – Dallas Keuchel (vs. Oakland Athletics): $8,200. It looks like Keuchel is finally heading in the right direction after a rough start to 2016. Over his last five starts, he owns a 3-0 record, 2.78 ERA, and a 1.18 WHIP. The Astros offense has been red hot recently, so he should get the run support necessary to come out with a win on Tuesday.

Midseason Top 100 MLB Prospect Rankings Analysis (21-30)

Below you can find my analysis for the prospects ranked between 21-30 for the 2016 midseason top prospect list. I will be posting daily analysis of every player listed in the top 100, so please follow my blog and other social media for updates.

  1. Orlando Arcia (MIL, 21 Years Old, SS): The smooth-fielding shortstop has struggled a little during the 2016 season, but his future remains bright. In 382 plate appearances at Triple-A, Arcia is batting .269, with seven home runs, 44 RBIs, 56 runs, 13 stolen bases, .325 OBP, and a .407 slugging percentage. He still profiles as an above average shortstop in the big leagues, but I’m not convinced he is going to be an elite fantasy baseball player. He has the ceiling to produce 15-20 stolen bases, .270 BA, 10-15 home runs, and a .340 OBP once he reaches the bigs. If he does put up those numbers, I retract my statement about his fantasy baseball value.

Daily Matchups for 7/18/2016

Pitcher

STUDS

Jose Fernandez- He is facing a Phillies team that he has dominated in the past. Fernandez has held them to a .238 BA (10 for 42) while striking out 12 and not allowing an extra base hit. He’s the pitcher of the night.

Chris Sale- Is coming off a bad start against the Braves but he’s facing a Mariners’ team that he’s held to 17 hits in 81 ABs (.210 BA). He’s let a lot of people down lately but is in prime position to help a team. He’s $1,100 cheaper than Fernandez and $300 more expensive than Kluber. If you can pair him up with cheap bats, we could be in store for a great night for pitching!

Corey Kluber- Kluber has faced the Royals twice so far this year and has fared well for the most part. He faced them on June 15th and lasted only 5 innings while giving up 8 hits, walking 1, striking out 7 and got only 21 FP on Fanduel. Back on June 5th Kluber pitched 5 innings giving up only 2 hits while striking out 6 and securing the win and 48 FP. We’re hoping he gets the same results as his June 5th outing.

MID RANGE

Mike Fiers- Love Fiers as a very under-owned option for Monday’s slate. He’s facing the Atheletics who struggle at times. Lifetime against the A’s, Fiers has held them to a .230 BA (14 for 61) with 14 Ks and 10 ground outs. He has a 21.5% K percentage and makes an intriguing GPP option. He’s coming off a terrible start against Seattle lasting only 3.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and only 10 FPs and that could put his ownership down less than 10% tonight which is what it’ll take to take down a GPP.

Jon Lester- Lester is facing the terrible Mets who love to strike out. Lester has held them to a .254 BA (52 for 205) while striking out 50 and a 21.7% K rate. Lester has struggled his past couple of starts and could deter people away from him, we look for him to have a great game tonight.

VALUE

Mike Leake- He’s not always an attractive option but he does get a matchup against the Padres. Leake has held them to a .231 BA (15 hits in 65 ABs) while striking out 17 and giving up only 2 HRs. Love him for a very cheap option to load up on bats.

P – Chris Sale (vs. Seattle Mariners): $12,200. In 78 career at bats against Sale, the Mariners’ lineup is batting .205, with 27 strikeouts, and a .254 OBP. Sale leads the majors with 14 wins this season. He also owns a 3.38 ERA, with 104 hits against, 123 strikeouts, and only 26 walks in 125 innings pitched.

P – Mike Fiers (vs. Oakland Althletics): $5,500. This pick scares me a little bit, but in order to afford my stack against Ivan Nova, this was a necessary play. Fiers has been hit or miss this season. He owns a 6-3 record, with a 4.36 ERA 64 strikeouts, and 21 walks in 93 innings pitched. He is playing in a pitcher friendly stadium against a division rival, so I’m hoping he will be on his “A” game.

P- Lance McCullers (vs. Seattle Mariners): $9,800. McCullers has been on fire recently. Over his last three starts, he has a 1-1 record, 2.70 ERA, and 22 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched. In his last time on the mound against the Mariners, he struck out 10 over seven innings.

P- Jerad Eickhoff (vs. New York Mets): $7,800. The Mets offense has struggled with run production all season long. In 18 starts this season, Eickhoff has a 6-10 record, 3.80 ERA, 94 strikeouts, and 29 walks in 109 innings pitched. He doesn’t get great run support, but he is a steal for only $7,800.

  1. Willy Adames (TB, 20 Years Old, SS): Adames has developed quite nicely over the last few seasons. At 20 years old, he is showing great success in Double-A. In 360 plate appearances, he is batting .264, with eight home runs, nine stolen bases, and a .365 OBP. After a slow 2015 season, Adames has rebounded very nicely after his promotion in 2016. He is starting to show more power, speed, and he is getting on base at a better rate. I don’t think he will ever be an elite fantasy baseball player, but he should be average-to-above average.

  1. Jason Groome (BOS, 17 Years Old, LHP): Well, this ranking won’t mean anything if the Red Sox don’t sign Groome after drafting him 12th overall in the 2016 MLB Draft. The Sox and Groome are still in negotiations, but nothing as been finalized yet. At only 17 years old, Groome is incredibly advanced on the mound. He throws a mid-90’s fastball from the left-side, which has great late movement. He also shows a great feel for his breaking ball and changeup. To go along with his great repertoire, Groome has showed great command for a kid his age. Many people expected Groome to go first overall in the draft, but he started to trend downwards due to maturity questions and sign-ability issues. If the Red Sox sign Groome, he has the upside of a frontline starter.

51. Jake Bauers (TB, 20 Years Old, 1B): Bauers has improved his game a lot in 2016. Last season, he hit .272, with 11 home runs, eight stolen bases, .342 OBP, and a .418 slugging percentage in 534 plate appearances. In only 368 plate appearances this season at Double-A, Bauers is batting .285, with 10 home runs, seven stolen bases, .373 OBP, and a .430 slugging percentage. He also has very advanced plate discipline, which should serve him well in his career. Bauers has one of the prettiest left-handed swings you will see, so it is no surprise that he is hitting so well this year.
