  1. Gary Sanchez (NYY, 23 Years Old, C): Sanchez has been a highly touted prospect since 2011. He has fluctuated in the rankings each year, but he is finally close to the big leagues. In 243 plate appearances this season, he is batting .281, with nine home runs, .321 OBP, .487 slugging percentage, and a .808 OPS in Triple-A. His defense has improved quite a bit to go along with his elite arm, so it looks like he will stick behind the plate. Sanchez is the catcher of the future for the New York Yankees.

Midseason Top 100 Prospect Rankings Analysis (91-100)

  1. Braden Shipley (ARI, 24 Years Old, RHP): Shipley was considered a top 50 prospect following the 2014 season, but he has declined since. In 2016, he has thrown 107.1 innings, with a 3.69 ERA, 117 hits against, 68 strikeouts, and only 18 walks in Triple-A. His walk rate and command have drastically improved, but his lack of strikeouts is a concern. A few years ago, Shipley was viewed as a potential 2/3 starter in a rotation, but it looks like he could be more of a 4/5 starter when he gets his chance.

P – Michael Pineda (vs. Chicago White Sox): $10,600. Over his last six starts, Pineda has been on fire. In that timespan, he owns a 2.74 ERA and his opponents are only batting .201. He is coming off one of his best starts of the season last time out against the Texas Rangers, in which he struck out 12 batters.

P – Sonny Gray (vs. Minnesota Twins): $5,900. Gray has faired very well against mediocre offensive teams (Rays, Reds, Brewers, Angels), but he has been blown up against elite offensive teams (Pirates, Rangers, Red Sox, Mariners) this season. Luckily, Gray will make the start against a team that has struggled offensively this year on Wednesday. During June, he had a very strong month, posting a 3.23 ERA.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 7/2/16

P – Jose Fernandez (vs. Atlanta Braves): $13,800. Jose is expensive on Saturday, but he is worth it. He is facing one of the worst offenses in baseball and he has been red hot recently. Fernandez is coming off an absolute gem against the Chicago Cubs, in which he threw seven innings, striking out 13, and allowing only one run. He is now averaging 13.12 strikeouts per nine innings this season.

P – Adam Wainwright (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $7,500. This is a bit of a risky pick, but it was necessary to choose a cheaper option since Jose Fernandez was so expensive. Wainwright has struggled this season, but he is facing an offense he has dominated throughout his career and they are ice cold over the last seven days. In 137 career at bats against Wainwright, the Brewers’ offense is batting .234, with two home runs, and a .274 OBP.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 7/1/16

P –  Michael Fulmer (vs. Tampa Bay Rays): $10,900. Fulmer has been dominant this season. In 63.2 innings pitched, he owns a 7-2 record, 2.54 ERA, 50 hits against, 60 strikeouts, and 24 walks. The Rays offense has struggled quite a bit in 2016, so Fulmer should be able to take care of business. Prior to Fulmer’s last start, he threw 33.1 consecutive scoreless innings.

P – Tanner Roark (vs. Cincinnati Reds): $9,800. Roark struggled his last time out against the Reds, but he has been spectacular for the rest of the 2016 season. In 16 starts, he owns a 7-5 record, with a 2.96 ERA, 90 hits against, 89 strikeouts, and 32 walks in 100.1 innings pitched. The Reds offense has been miserable over the past seven games, which is a great sign for Roark.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/30/16

P – Zach Davies (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers): $8,000. Davies has been spectacular this month. In five starts in June, he owns a 1.64 ERA, 0.788 WHIP, 36 strikeouts, and six walks in 33 innings pitched. One of those five starts came against the Dodgers, in which he threw seven innings, giving up five hits, one run, and he struck out six. The Dodgers offense has really struggled over the past seven days, which is a good sign for the young right-hander.

P – Carlos Rodon (vs. Minnesota Twins): $8,500. Rodon is coming off a very good start against the Toronto Blue Jays in his last start. Over his last 12 innings pitched, he has struck out 16 batters, which is a great sign for daily fantasy. The Minnesota Twins rank in the bottom of the major leagues against left-handed pitching in 2016, so this should be a great matchup for Rodon. Rodon faced the Twins on April 13th, going six innings, giving up three hits, zero runs, and he struck out six. Rodon can be a very high risk, high reward pitcher, so this could be a risky play.

Could Jose Altuve Win The American League MVP Award?

Houston Astros’ second baseman, Jose Altuve, has had quite an impressive 2016 season so far. He has been so impressive that he could be a legitimate contender for the American League Most Valuable Player Award. He has some very tough competition that includes Mike Trout, Ian Desmond, Robinson CanoXander Bogaerts, David Ortiz and many more.

Altuve’s chances at the MVP award could drastically change considering there are still 84 games left in the season, but he is currently one of the favorites. His biggest competition will more than likely be Mike Trout, but Jose Altuve could have a huge advantage on Trout if the Astros continue to win. If Altuve leads the Astros to a playoff appearance, then he could be at a distinct advantage over Trout since the Angels will more than likely finish in the bottom half of the American League West.

Who Will Be The Next Superstar Baseball Prospect Called Up?

Following the promotion of Lucas Giolito, MLB’s #1 overall prospect, many people are wondering who and when the next superstar prospect will be called up. There are quite a few people who come to mind when pondering this question. Some of those names include Alex Bregman, Manuel Margot, Alex Reyes, Orlando Arcia, Tyler Glasnow, Aaron Judge, and many more.

It is difficult to predict when a prospect is going to be called up, but it can be even harder to predict if that prospect is going to be a superstar. Every one of those guys listed above have the potential to be something special, but who will make that superstar impact this year? Could it be Alex Bregman taking over third base for the Houston Astros? How about Alex Reyes toeing the rubber in St. Louis? Both of those individuals will be superstars, but they are not who I have in mind.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/29/16

P – Max Scherzer (vs. New York Mets): $13,500. Well, you can’t go wrong with this pick. First of all, the Mets offense has been TERRIBLE over the past seven days. They rank 28th in runs, last in slugging, 29th in OBP, and 15th in strikeouts. Second of all, Scherzer has dominated the Mets since joining the Nationals in 2015. In five starts against the Mets, he has a 2.00 ERA. His last start against the Mets, on May 17th, he threw 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, and he struck out 10.

P – Junior Guerra (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers): $7,400. Guerra has been pretty consistent this year. In 10 starts, he owns a 4-1 record, with a 3.67 ERA, 51 hits against, 53 strikeouts, and 19 walks in 61.1 innings pitched. He is facing a Dodgers’ offense that has struggled mightily over the past seven days. During those seven days, the Dodgers are ranked 26th in runs (26), last in OBP (.298), and 24th in slugging (.402).

The Atlanta Braves Need To Trade Julio Teheran, But It Might Not Happen

As it gets closer to the trade deadline, Atlanta Braves pitcher, Julio Teheran, is gaining more and more attention. Through five starts in June, Teheran has been absolutely dominant throwing 37.2 innings, with a 1.91 ERA, 17 hits against, 37 strikeouts, and only four walks. The Braves will bring in quite the haul if they decide to deal the right-hander to a competing team at the trade deadline.

So far in 2016, Teheran owns a 3-7 record, with a 2.46 ERA, 70 hits against, 99 strikeouts, and 24 walks in 106 innings pitched. Pay no attention to the record since he is currently playing for the worst team in baseball, but this might not be for long. Many teams have expressed interest in Teheran, including the Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, and other teams competing for a spot in the playoffs.

Teheran would help a competing team, but he may not be worth the price the Atlanta Braves are asking for. Not only is the price high, but there are some concerning factors that might show that Teheran’s success in 2016 could be a fluke.

Michael Conforto Might File Grievance Against The New York Mets

a michael conforto

By Trey Rose (BBBA Featured Writer, owner of dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)

Young star, Michael Conforto, was demoted a few days ago because of a massive slump. Following May 1st, Conforto was batting .148, with a .217 OBP, and a .303 slugging percentage. Many people believe his struggles may stem from a wrist injury, but Conforto assured the media it was a mechanical issue rather than medical.

Well, it looks like the wrist injury may be a bigger issue than previously stated. On June 14th, Conforto received a cortisone shot to treat the injured cartilage in his left wrist. This cortisone shot could prove that Conforto is in fact too injured to play, which could lead to a grievance case. In the Major League Baseball collective bargaining agreement, it states that teams may not send injured major league players to the minor leagues. Rather, the team must place the player on the major league disabled list. This could have big repercussions on the New York Mets if Conforto decides to file this case.

You be wondering, “why would Conforto file this grievance,” but it’s very simple, money. By sending him down, Conforto is losing roughly $2,000 a day when you take into account major league pay compared to the minor leagues. Not only is he losing money, but he is also not losing service time, which could delay his future free agency. While this must be frustrating to Conforto, it is very unlikely he will go through with the case.

In order to win a grievance case for this situation, the player must not be healthy enough to play for the minor league club. Conforto has a few things going against him that would more than likely cause him to lose this case.

First of all, before he was demoted, he was very adamant when stating that his problems don’t stem from an injury, but rather his mechanical approach at the plate. In other words, he took full responsibility for his struggles. Second of all, he did play his first game at Triple-A, which shows he is able to play. Now he could be playing through an injury in which he shouldn’t be playing, but that could be tough to prove. Of course it is still possible for Conforto to file this grievance, but there are quite a few issues against his case.

P- Justin Verlander (vs. Cleveland Indians): $10,700. In 264 career at bats against Verlander, the Indians’ offense is batting .223, with 63 strikeouts, and a .306 OBP. He struggled against the Indians in his last start, but in the nine starts since, he is 6-2, with a 2.34 ERA.

P- Hector Santiago (vs. Oakland Athletics): $5,800. Santiago has been very solid over his last two starts. Oakland’s offense has really struggled over the past seven games. They are ranked 26th in runs scored, 25th in OBP, and 26th in slugging. They have also struggled against left-handed pitching all season, which points in Santiago’s favor as well.

In 62 career at bats against Bumgarner, the Phillies’ offense is batting .210, with two home runs, 20 strikeouts, and a .239 OBP.

P- Brandon Finnegan (vs. San Diego Padres): This month has been great for Finnegan. He is 2-1, with a 2.96 ERA, and he has gone six innings while giving up fewer than two runs in three of the last four starts. On the season, he is 3-5, with a 3.81 ERA,with 59 strikeouts.

Exclusive Interview With 2017 Draft Prospect and UNC Tar Heel, J.B. Bukauskas

J.B. has an electrifying fastball and slider combination, which both have potential to be plus-plus pitches. He is also developing a change-up that many scouts believe could solidify him as a top of the rotation starter one day. It’s hard to say which pitch is his best between his fastball and slider. He sits between 93-96 MPH with his fastball, but his slider could be the best breaking ball in the 2017 draft class. His elite combination of pitches, command, and maturity on and off the mound should make him one of the top prospects in the 2017 MLB Draft.

He is one of the top arms in the Cape Cod League this summer. He is also playing with Team USA this summer in Japan, Taiwan, and Cuba.

DraftKings is a lot better for bringing home the bigger jackpots on this system, and we love the ability to swap out players all day.

P – Max Scherzer (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $13,900. In 61 career at bats against Scherzer, the Brewers’ offense is batting .115, with 28 strikeouts, and a .169 OBP. In his last start against Milwaukee, Scherzer held together a perfect game through seven innings. Unfortunately he lost the perfect game in the seventh, but he only gave up one hit with 16 strikeouts in the complete game. In his last three starts, he owns a 2-0 record, 0.90 ERA, and 27 strikeouts.

P – Cody Reed (vs. San Diego Padres): $7,200. In his MLB debut, Reed showed lots of promise. He threw seven innings against the Houston Astros, giving up four runs, and striking out nine. His ability to strike batters out should make him a very good play on Friday. San Diego is ranked 27th in strikeouts, which is great for Reed.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/23/16

P- Jerad Eickhoff (vs. Minnesota Twins): $9,400. All of the top tier pitchers have tough match-ups on Thursday, but Eickhoff has a very favorable matchup. He will be facing the Minnesota Twins, who have scored the fewest runs in the American League this year. So far in 2016, Eickhoff is 4-9, with a 3.49 ERA, 83 hits against, and 73 strikeouts in 85 innings pitched. His record isn’t pretty, but it is more a matter of lack of run support, which shouldn’t be an issue against the Twins.

P- Tim Lincecum (vs. Oakland Athletics): $7,100. Lincecum dominated the A’s in his season debut on Saturday. The A’s offense has really struggled recently, so Lincecum should be able to take care of business again on Thursday. Over the last seven games, the A’s rank 29th in runs, 29th in OBP, and 29th in slugging. This will also be Lincecum’s debut at his home stadium, so the crowd will be behind him, which should help him succeed.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/15/16

P- Corey Kluber (vs. Kansas City Royals): $13,100. This matchup almost looks too good to be true. Kluber has been very successful as of late. He is coming off his second complete game of the season, in which he gave up only three hits, with eight strikeouts against the Angels. He has gone at least six innings in his last six starts. He has also dominated the Royals throughout his career. In 240 career at bats against Kluber, the Royals’ offense is batting .204, with 60 strikeouts, and a .235 OBP.

P- Sonny Gray (vs. Texas Rangers): $7,100. Gray has really excelled in his first two starts since returning from the disabled list. In his first start, he threw five innings against the Astros giving up five hits, one run, and five strikeouts. In his second outing, he faced the Reds, in which he gave up five hits, two runs, and four strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. Gray does face a tough offense, but he is pitching at his home park, which is always a good sign. In 176 career at bats against Gray, the Rangers’ lineup is batting .210, with 34 strikeouts, and a .291 OBP.

The Reasons Why Stephen Strasburg Is A Top-Five Pitcher In Baseball

As good as Stephen Strasburg was in the 2nd half of the 2015 year, ( 6 - 2 with a 1.90 ERA post ALL - Star), he has continued to assert himself as a top 5 pitcher in the MLB with his 8 - 0 start in 2016

As good as Stephen Strasburg was in the 2nd half of the 2015 year, ( 6 – 2 with a 1.90 ERA post ALL – Star), he has continued to assert himself as a top 5 pitcher in the MLB with his 8 – 0 start in 2016 – with a 2.79 ERA for`10 GS in his time this campaign so far.  The 27 Year old RHP converted his recent success into a 7 YRs/$175 MIL contract extension – and is full value for it if he throws like this.

Trey Rose (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner – dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)

Stephen Strasburg is a completely different and much more dominant pitcher this season. In 2015, Strasburg struggled with injuries. This led to an 11-7 record, 3.46 ERA, 155 strikeouts, 26 walks, and a 2.81 FIP in 127.1 innings. So far in 2016, Strasburg is 8-0, with a 2.79 ERA, 86 strikeouts, 18 walks, and a 2.29 FIP in 67.2 innings. Something has clicked and Strasburg is thriving in 2016.

Strasburg’s elite strikeout rate is what propels him to a top-five starting pitcher in fantasy baseball. He is averaging 11.44 strikeouts per nine innings in 2016. On top of his strikeout rate, he is also limiting his earned runs, but his FIP suggests that his ERA should reduce even more.

His mid-to-upper 90’s fastball and filthy breaking pitches are keeping hitters off balance and limiting consistent contact. From a statistical standpoint, see the link below that compares some of the top pitchers in the game and helps depict why Stephen Strasburg is a top-five pitcher in baseball:

Matt Harvey’s Struggles Will Continue Unless The New York Mets Take Action

05HARVEYweb-master675

Trey Rose (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner – dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)

New York Mets’ pitcher Matt Harvey could use a few days, or even weeks, off. The Dark Knight currently sports a 3-7 record, with a 6.08 ERA, 44 strikeouts, and 17 walks in 53.1 innings pitched.

Based on his career stats (28-25 record, 2.92 ERA, 493 strikeouts, 111 walks in 480.1 innings in four seasons), there is clearly something wrong with Harvey, and the Mets need to do something about it.

Many people believe the Mets should skip Harvey’s next start, but they have stated he will continue on his normal pitching schedule. The only noticeable anomaly in Harvey’s statistics is his drop in fastball velocity from an average of 95.2 MPH in 2015 to 94 MPH in 2016 and decreased breaking ball efficiency.

This drop in velocity could be from fatigue, injury, mechanical flaws, or loss of confidence and pressure from lack of success.

Fantasy owners, the time has come, Yu Darvish will be making his season debut on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Darvish is returning after 22 months of rehab following Tommy John Surgery.

He has made five rehab starts in the minor leagues and he has been very sharp. In those five starts, he has thrown 20 innings, with a 0.90 ERA, and 21 strikeouts. He has also hit 97 MPH with his fastball, which is a great sign of positive health. It looks like Darvish is back and ready to dominate for the Texas Rangers.

MLB Fantasy Daily (DFS) Picks For DraftKings – 5/17/16

zz draft kings

Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer/Part Owner)

We are ramping up our coverage on DFS play at MLB Reports, and will include some strategy articles in the forthcoming days and weeks.  We come from a high level of handicapping backgrounds, and have been given the go ahead from the braintrust at MLB Reports to start sharing some of these with you.

Of course Chuck Booth and I spearheaded this movement back in a few years ago with just regular baseball futures.  We were not sure if we wanted to go ahead with the MLB DFS Fantasy at all, but were finally convinced for demand by a couple of our BBBA writers (Josh Robbins and Trey Rose).  The need is there and we are looking to deliver.

I have played DFS long enough to be the guy who writes the posts here.  The gambling philosophy championed by Booth in the 90’s is brilliant for any sources of tournaments or gambling period.  It weaves the Martingale Betting System (progressive betting with the double up theory) and it fosters it with several other techniques so you don’t bet against yourself.

One of the biggest blunders made by many gamblers is betting against themselves.  We are going to simplify the process, so if you win, you can really win – none of this barely break even nonsense.

Look for that in coming days.  Now here is what we are going to do for today’s MLB DFS Draft Kings style.

We Will Give You – Daily

5 team stacking options ( We are going to draw most of our players from these 5 squads).

3 Pitching candidates (High level, midlevel and budget).
