Who Owns October (#WOO) Tallies Updated For October 3, 2017

(ELSA/GETTY IMAGES)
Well… for 1/2 an inning, everything looked perfect for Minnesota, didn’t it? Then they were out scored 8-1 after that 3 run uprising. It was fun while it lasted for Twins fans and no doubt they will be back as contenders.
But last night was about the Yankees power and their tremendously deep bullpen. The playoffs have begun.
So who owned October?
Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO (Who Owns October.)
And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.
At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter.
A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.
From October 3
2017 American League Wild Card Game:
Receiving 1 WOO
Brett Gardner reached base 3 times and scored 3 times, hitting a home run along the way and led the Yankees to a come from behind 8-4 victory over the Twins in the Wild Card Game.
David Robertson stopped the bleeding with 3 1/3 innings without being charged with a run, striking out 5 Twins and getting the 8-4 decision for the Yankees in the Wild Card Game.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Brian Dozier led off the 2017 Wild Card Game with a homer and sparked a first inning 3 run rally for the Twins. He would reach base again but the Yankee bats were too strong in the 8-4 final.
Current WOO Totals MLB 2017
Hitters ‘WOO’ MLB 2017,
Brett Gardner – Yankees 1, Brian Dozier – Twins 1/2,
Pitchers ‘WOO’ MLB 2017,
David Robertson – Yankees 1,

New York Yankees Payroll In 2017 + Contracts Going Forward

Brian Cashman can finally see some relief from some exorbitant contracts plaguing him from the last several years.Alex Rodriguez is still on the book for this years salary of $21 MIL. What is worse is that his Annual Average Salary of $27.5 MIL per year for the duration of his 2008 – 2017 contract still counts towards the $195 MIL Luxury Tax Threshold limit this season. Will the Yankees spend beyond that mark, or will they finally get under the limit and reset their penalties?
The Bronx Bombers have a projected payroll of $195 MIL already – and are perennial abusers of the Luxury Tax Threshold – so they are at a 50% penalty for any money spent between $195 – $215 MIL.
Don’t look for them to add much – unless they can orchestrate a trade of one of their salaried players already.
The brass is playing this smart. The young players will make or break this current roster of players, however if the season gets away from New York, they will assuredly deal a few players away to get under the Luxury Tax Threshold once and for all.
By doing such that, they will reset the penalty to a 1st time user.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS RUMOR: CLUB INTERESTED IN BRETT GARDNER
ONE RUMOR HAS THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS INTERESTED IN MOVING ON FROM JOSE BAUTISTA & TRADING FOR BRETT GARDNER, WHICH JAYS FROM THE COUCH DEBUNKS.
Well, here we go! A new year and some not so new tricks. Apparently, when it comes to the baseball offseason, there is no point in setting resolutions. The same old stuff keeps happening, year after year. This time around, the Toronto Blue Jays may find themselves in the middle of a rumor…again. Though, this one seems a little weak.
According to Ashley Varela of NBC Sports, Toronto is not interested in Jose Bautista anymore because they’ve moved on to coveting Yankees outfielder, Brett Gardner…

A Jay Bruce Trade To The New York Yankees Makes Sense
Trey Rose (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner – dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)

As of right now, the New York Yankees are really struggling. They are currently in last place in the American League East with a record of 13-19. A large part of this extreme decline is because the Yankees are struggling to score runs.
They are currently ranked as the 24th overall team in Major League Baseball when it comes to run production. This is exactly why the potential addition of Jay Bruce could be a huge spark plug to the Yankees lineup.
The Yankees outfield is currently filled with Brett Gardner, Jacoby Ellsbury, and a struggling Aaron Hicks. Jay Bruce could take over for Hicks and provide a lot of power potential for the Yankees lineup.
Over Bruce’s 9-year career, he is averaging 30 home runs per season. His left-handed power swing could be extremely dangerous in Yankee Stadium.

MLB Fantasy Daily (DFS) Picks For FanDuel – 4/30/16 + Bonus 2nd Lineup
Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer/Part Owner)

The Tigers have definitely heated up their lineup in the last week – and are perhaps still vastly underrated on FanDuel right now. Looking to capitalize on low values for Miguel Cabrera, Justin Upton and J.D. Martinez.
I also believe in the NY Yankees getting the better of Rick Porcello on Saturday with LHB Brett Gardner and Brian McCann. I added Starlin Castro to the fold at Fenway Park.
For some reason, the Yankees do well at Fenway for batting anyway. Plus I can’t think that Porcello will keep up his success either.
There is a lot of frontline pitchers throwing on Saturday, so I am steering clear of a a ton of cash on FanDuel. I do love Francisco Liriano vs the Reds. Heck, I love anyone against the Reds – who are starting their freefall.
The Yankees and Tigers are kind of an old unconventional duo for a couple of stacks, and that is what I am hoping for. I may play a Chase Field lineup as well – and just call it a day. Read the rest of this entry
MLB DFS Picks For FanDuel – 4/22/16

Longoria has bashed 6 HRs in 64 career AB vs CC Sabathia, and is the bargain of the night at just $2900 on FanDuel.

Coming off a No hitter in Cincinnati on Thursday, I love the Cubs to continue their dominance over the Reds this weekend. While I would say that Chicago will win the game handedly, the prices are just too high for some of the hitters.
I love picking Bryce Harper in any lineup right now. You always know he will walk even if he doesn’t club the ball out of the yard. I am calling for a stack against the Twins Kyle Gibson.
I also went with 3 Baltimore Orioles vs Chris Young in KC – who is yet to his stride this year.
Chris Davis has got to be the best play in the Majors besides Bryce Harper tomorrow. He should get some lemons to hit over the wall.
I love playing Matt Moore against the struggling Yankees lineup. Their Left Handed hitters like Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner should have a tough time.
The Rays chucker has not allowed a HR to New York’s hitters through 54 AB. Meanwhile, the Rays should be able to score versus an aging CC Sabathia.
Evan Longoria has feasted on the man, and Logan Forsythe has a great short history versus him as well. Read the rest of this entry

Don’t Cry For Players That Were Given The Qualifying Offer: And Are Not Being Signed

The Players of the MLBPA will have their chance to collectively bargain the rule of Qualifying Offer after the current CBA ends at the end of this year. Despite hearing a ton of groaning on radio airwaves from MLB hosts, the problem is just not as dire as they project. I may say they are trying to shock their audience for 24/7/365 programming. I argue the point that the ‘QO’ is not that bad. The Draft Picks assigned for the players should not dissuade teams from singing them, as the percentage of picks 11 – 30 of the 1st Round do not have a huge conversion rate in the Majors that would trump these players current production anyway.
Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer/Part Owner) Follow @stokes_hunter21

I will spare a ton of rhetoric and cut right to the chase. 3 out of the 20 players are still without a deal that were linked to the Qualifying Offer of $15.8 MIL in November. This not egregious in any way in my view.
Dexter Fowler, Yovani Gallardo and Ian Desmond all could have taken the deal, played one more year and then hit the open market again. Heck, they still can, but probably are not going to get in the vicinity of that cash for a one year deal with a Draft Pick nailed to it.
If anyone is to blame it is their agents. This is simply the price of doing business.
Desmond for sure has no one to blame when the Nats hit him with a 7 year deal worth $107 MIL prior to 2014. Don’t you think he would love a Mulligan on that one? Read the rest of this entry
Will New York Yankees LF Brett Gardner Remain A Valuable Commodity?

It was a tale of two halves for the man though. With a .861 OPS before the ALL – Star Break, he made the American League squad in Cincinnati for the Yanks. His .592 OPS post ALL – Star Break was a main reason the club struggled in the second half of the year. Gardy did battle a wrist injury in the last few months. He is signed for the next four years. I believe the club may go as far as he and Ellsbury in 2016. His average dipped all the way to .259 after starting the season near .300

It’s a business and the New York Yankees believe outfielder Brett Gardner is a valuable commodity. All the same, it will be interesting to see if Gardner’s value as an asset grows or diminishes during and after the 2016 season.
Is this the final season in Gardner’s contract that his performance will considerably influence his worth to the club as a trade piece?
What Should The Yankees Do For 1B Depth Now + Beyond 2016 With Bird Hurt?

Justin Morneau would definitely be a flier for some team based on his recent concussion history. Although he did recently win a Batting Title for the Colorado Rockies in 2014 by Batting .319. The former AL MVP has a swing a lot like former Yankees player – Tino Martinez and would be perfect depth for the Yankees. Morneau, 34, could also take some Designated Hitter reps against tough Right Handed Pitchers. The Canadian posted a .316/.364/.487 3 Slash Line with 20 HRs and 42 Doubles in his 670 AB spanning the last 2 seasons for the Rockies. I believe he could put up at a .275/.333/.425 line for the Yankees if they brought him in.

It is unfair for a player like Gregory Bird, that he tore his labrum and will miss the entire 2016 season.
With Mark Teixeira spending a pile of time on the meat wagon for various injuries in the last few years, the young 23 year old slugger could have solidified a long-standing place on the team if he could have had the opportunity forthcoming.
Instead this little injury is really putting the ‘Pinstripers’ depth to question before pitchers and catchers even report at First Base.
Brian Cashman has to play this thing right – as any injury ‘Tex’ could cripple the club. The organization should dole out some decent cabbage for a guy to backup at 1st now with this news.
At first glance you have to look at the potential Free Agents out there left on the table. Both Pedro Alvarez and Justin Morneau are still on the open market.
