Who Owned Baseball June 13, 2017 (Daily #MLB AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVP’s) + 2016 #WOB Standings
Eddie Rosario homered 3 times, added another hit and drove in 5 to lead the Twins crazy 20-7 drubbing of the Mariners.
Cody Bellinger reached base 4 times including a pair of homers, as the Dodgers held on against the Indians, 7-5.
Jason Vargas threw 7 strong innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 runs as the Royals won against the Giants, 8-1.
Jon Lester struck out 10 Mets in 7 innings, allowing 1 run and got the 14-3 decision for the Cubs.

Ervin Santana threw a complete game 1 hit shutout, striking out 8 White Sox and earned the 6-0 decision for the Twins.
Tyler Chatwood took a perfect game into the 6th and finished with a complete game 2 hitter as the Rockies blanked San Francisco, 5-0.
Jose Ramirez collected 10 total bases including a pair of homers and 6 RBI as a match up of aces turned into a 13-6 slugfest win for the Indians over Detroit.
Nolan Arenado went 3 for 5 with a homer to help Colorado beat San Francisco, 5-0.

Who Owned Baseball September 28, 2016 (Daily #MLB AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVP’s) + 2016 #WOB Standings
John Jaso hit the first ever cycle in the history of PNC Park, driving in 5 runs and helping the Pirates top the Division Champion Cubs, 8-4.
Carlos Gomez got on base 4 times, homering, driving in 3 as the Rangers came back to top Milwaukee, 8-5.
Tyler Chatwood threw 8 innings of dominating shutout ball, striking out 9 Giants and earning the 2-0 decision for Colorado.
Miguel Gonzalez pitched a shutout into the 9th, finishing with 8 1/3 innings, 3 hits and 5 Rays strikeouts as the White Sox shut them out, 1-0.

Well not much has changed from this week as compared to last week. Detroit carried its free fall to 4th in the AL Central, the Yankees took 5 of 7 contests – and 7/10 in their homestand to save their season for now.
Miami and Philadelphia continue to stick around in the NL East, and the Giants and Dodgers finally had winning weeks to make the NL West Division Leader respectable.
Nobody looks scarier right now than the Boston Red Sox offense, who led by David Ortiz, Jackie Bradley JR. and Xander Bogaerts, plated 10 runs or more in 5 of the last 6 games, after going their 1st 32 games without doing so.
I am still awaiting for a Jays big winning streak. Houston has not played winning baseball since the 1st 6 weeks of the 2015 – and are tending to resemble the 2007 Tampa Bay Rays more than anything.
All offense and little pitching and defense.
There is nobody struggling worse than Logan Morrison, Russell Martin, Carlos Gomez and the consortium of LF’s in Anaheim! Recently bouncing out of this list are Jason Heyward and Chase Headley.
We are nearing the quarter pole and rapidly approaching Memorial Day Weekend, so it is not early anymore.

Disclaimer: We based these rankings on best strength to win the World Series. Therefore some teams that have an easier division to play in, with the least path of resistance to the postseason overall may be ranked a lot higher than a club who is equally talented, yet may play in a juggernaut of a division.

(1) (1) Chicago Cubs (E) (24 – 6) : A real bad day for the Cubs is battling with a team like Washington on Sunday, to see whether or not they are going to sweep them or go 3 – 1 in a series.
Yep, they swept the 4 game set in a 13 inning walk off HR by Javier Baez – to cap a 7 – 0 week. They are on pace for about 129 wins right now.
Depth of the Starting Rotation is looking solid with Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jason Hammel (Killer J’s) and Kyle Hendricks.
Hector Rondon is not even needed in most leads, with the team almost at a +100 differential through 30 games,
(2) (3) Chicago White Sox (+1) (22 – 10) ( 4 – 2): Chris Sale is 7 – 0, and may go Ron Guidry (circa 1979 on us). If anyone will win 25 games in a year, it would be him or Jake Arrieta.
Bob Welch won 27 games in 1990 for the A’s was the last guy to do that.
Has anyone noticed that Brett Lawrie has an OBP closer to .400 – than his usual .310 – .320?
Jose Quintana is finally receiving some run support. If Todd Frazier and Jose Abreu start hitting for BA, than look he the hell out. We could see a “Windy City” World Series for the 1st time since 1906. Read the rest of this entry
Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For FanDuel 5/4/16

There is a sneaky bargain dollar deal on Wednesday night. If you search really good already – you probably know that Justin Smoak is a fantastic value at $2300 against Colby Lewis.
Not only did the big switch hitting 1B club 2 HRs on Tuesday to win me some money, but he has done yard twice vs his opponent at the Rogers Centre – with a 1.438 OPS in 16 AB.
Jose Bautista has also fared well against Lewis, with a pair of HRs against him, with a ridiculous 9 Walks as well. Joey Bats has a .619 OPS versus the man.
To help the stack even further, Michael Saunders has a HR and a .898 OPS in 20 AB.
In order to create the dollars needed to play the best pitcher on the board (Felix Hernandez), I put in Russell Martin at C as the 4th Jays player.
In case you haven’t noticed – Twins OF Danny Santana has been bringing in 8.7 PPG as a $2400 cost to the budget. Give me that production any time. I also added his teammate Brian Dozier to the fold tomorrow.
At 3B – I have enlisted Anthony Rendon for a 2nd straight day, as he hit his 1st HR of the season Tuesday.
Francisco Lindor had 3 hits Tuesday – and despite me wanting to play Troy Tulowitzki, he was was ineligible as a 5th Toronto player is prohibited. Read the rest of this entry

The biggest favorites were taken off the board, and perhaps 2 of the strongest contenders also followed suit Wednesday night. 2 time reigning champions, the Toronto Blue Jays were swept by the White Sox, and bageled courtesy of Jose Quintana.
Canada’s only franchise still will finish no worse than 7th, as this was still their 23rd game of the year.
Washington automatically ends at 9th – while the Dodgers will finish at 8th in an likelihood, unless the Phillies (1 of 6 clubs remaining: OAK/SEA/PIT/COL and ARI) lose Thursday by 2 – 0 or less. Maybe it could happen, but not banking on it.
The A’s still hanging around this competition is a pretty good testament to their scrappy play this year at 11 – 11.
Philadelphia itself has a winning record at 11 – 10, and one reason is they haven’t been zeroed yet in a game.
With the Jays out, the favorite will turn to the Rockies – who play at Coors Field, and have a great lineup.
Seattle is a precarious team left in the field.
Houston is struggling at 7 – 15, but their offense has not been that bad at all. They should change it around. They and Oakland are the hopes of the AL to win the category. The AL East joined the AL Central in having all teams be eliminated with the Toronto exodus. Read the rest of this entry
MLB DFS Fantasy Draft Picks For DraftKings – 4/28/16: 2nd Lineup (Coors Field Factor)

We are going to run a daily feature of a 2nd lineup every time there is a game played at Coors Field. Lets face it, whatever you did yesterday would not have mattered much unless you had Andrew McCutchen in your roster.
This park continues to serve up fantasy points galore.
So with loading all of the players for stacks between the Rockies and Pirates Thursday (Juan Nicasio @ Tyler Chatwood) I left off the Catchers as who knows who will play on a matinee game on getaway day.
I found a couple of gems in order to save some cash to Start Jake Arrieta as well.
The 1st player is A.J. Pierzynski – who holds a 400 BA lifetime versus Clay Buchholz, and will most likely start.
Has anyone been following this Brandon Drury kid out of Arizona? He can play 2B/3B and OF – and has a 3 Slash so far of .298/.317/.526 – and is perfectly priced at $2200.
Then I used Tyler Wilson at home for the Orioles ($4800) against the White Sox. Chicago just swept the Jays and should be due for a letdown . Baltimore is 7 – 1 at home thus far on the season. Wilson actually won his last start versus the Royals in KC.
Since I only spent a total of $10.200 on those guys. it left me $39800 for the remaining 7 players. Bang, Now I can afford Arrieta, and roster 4 Rockies and 2 Pirates in my Coors Field mandatory lineup

While I love Jake Arrieta throwing versus the Brewers on Thursday, I will reserve to play him on Draft Kings, as I would rather roster a bunch of hitters instead.
The options came down to either use Tanner Roark or Clay Buchholz, and it came down to price. Buchholz has not thrown well this year and costs $900. He also pitches at Fenway Thursday.
Roark was nails in his last start on Saturday, doling out 15 K’s at home versus the Braves. Since I stacked on on 3 of the hitters being Nats, it is a nice chance to rake in some points.
In order to secure Bryce Harper, I am using A.J. Pierzynski in the Boston vs ATL game. He is a solid veteran. – and holds a .400 BA in 15 AB versus the Red Sox veteran.
I almost won a bunch of dough with this exact same lineup Wednesday, as I had David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Xander Bogaerts – with pitcher Steven Wright. They all combined for about 120 PTS.
My Nats lineup of guys didn’t fare as well and cost me. I will play it again and just slightly tweak it. I can’t see the Phillies continue to win series like this.
has 5 hits in 7 AB versus Aaron Nola so far, with 2 jacks. Anthony Rendon also has done yard work in limited duty, with 3 hits – including his HR in 8 AB. Daniel Murphy is 2 – 5 against Nola. Read the rest of this entry
Texas Is Blanked By The White Sox FRI: Then There Were 10 Teams Left In 2016 MLB Shutout Survivor:

Texas was the 20th squad to see all of their run totals of a game all see zeroes on Friday night. The White Sox and Jose Quintana provided the opposition – and knocked out one of the best clubs to be left in this category.
So there are now 10 clubs left in this quest to be last team bageled in 2016.
The 4 American League teams remaining are overall favorite Toronto, and the potent offensive of Baltimore are also alive Surprisingly, the A’s have to be blanked, and not surprising, the Astros are still on the board.
I fully expect the O’s, Jays and Astros to lead the league in HRs 1, 2 and 3, so this is about right. Oakland on the other hand is the odd man still there. Kudos to them for a great start to the campaign.
In the NL, the Rockies are always hard to keep from scoring – and are blessed with a nice run scoring home stadium. Pittsburgh, Arizona and Los Angeles are worthy choices of being left in the running.

I will open up by saying that most good fantasy players will play several lineup entries into the contests. To save face, all of us also will put at least one roster up that takes Coors Field into consideration.
This website knows all to well what the home ballpark in Colorado does for the hitter. How about hitting .315 as a BA for positional hitters for the Rockies 0 even in the ‘humidor era’?
All the exposing the balls to that room has done is take away the sick amount of homers that were hit. The spacious outfield is still prone to lots of base knocks.
The reason why I won’t post that lineup is because it won’t help you win any money. The more players that are wagered on (and not unique) makes it unlikely to win any serious money. You must factor it in to just break even though.
On Saturday, I am loving using Michael Wacha versus San Diego. Maybe he will have better success against the Padres than his fellow chucker Adam Wainwright had.
With savings to the lineup placed forth by putting in a Danny Espinosa, and creative other value priced Nats in Michael Taylor, we are able to secure Bryce Harper. I love adding Taylor to offset Harper’s $5900 price tag. With him leading off a lot, it provides decent chances to at least provide value.
As for the Catcher, I can always switch out before the lineup locks should Matt Wieters not be confident in starting (he never played Friday). Stephen Vogt, Francisco Cervelli or Miguel Montero would be all right to take the spot. Read the rest of this entry
Chicago Cubs Win Runs Scoring Survivor 2016 – Then Shutout Reds To Knock Them Out Of MLB Shutout Survivor

Jake Arrieta through his 2nd no hitter in just 12 regular season starts, and effectively eliminated Cincinnati from the quest to be the last team blanked in the MLB.
The Reds will finish no worse than 13th.
Chicago also wrapped up the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor when the Marlins failed to tally either 8 or 9 runs in their 5 – 1 win vs the Nats Thursday. There are still plenty of things to look forward to in the contest, including who is the last to complete the journey.
What Runs Survivor is: A MLB team scoring 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or (10+) in different games throughout the course of the season.
Once a club has one of these run totals once, you cross it off and keep going until they complete the 11 different variations.
A Bold Italic illustrates it has been done for runs by the club. We are also doing the MLB Shutout Survivor as well.

Cards + White Sox Eliminated From MLB Shutout Survivor 2016: ALL AL Central Teams Are Also Gone

The teams are putting up zeroes faster than Vegas casino’s are padding their bottom lines now.
St. Louis couldn’t handle ex teammate John Lackey. and were effectively knocked out of the contest via a 5 – 0 loss.
The Angels wiped out the White Sox for a 7 – 0 victory on Monday night. In doing so, every club in the AL Central is now gone from MLB Shutout Survivor 2016.
Meanwhile the Padres are the squad that has been vanquished in the NL West by a Shutout so far. Yes, and they are making up for the other clubs by taking the egg-shaped number 5 separate times already.
There are only 5 teams left in the American League, and now there are 9 clubs still alive in the NL.
I am contemplating going all the way back to 1918 – in order to figure out who won this competition every year. That would be a lot easier than running through game scores for all of the seasons of MLB Runs Scoring Survivor.
With only 8 teams in play Monday night – there wasn’t much action in the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor. The only note was that the Cubs didn’t capitalize on their fist chance to complete the journey. Tigers/Indians + Cubs Eliminated From MLB Shutout Survivor 2016: But Cubs Have 10/11 Variations Complete In MLB Runs Scoring Survivor

So I said last at the end of the last week that the Cubs were poised to win the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor competition, and now they are just 1 run variation short (they need 3 runs in a game).
They could win the category tonight when they renew their NL Central rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals.
This is all possible because they were blanked 2 – 0 by Tyler Chatwood at Wrigley yesterday, coupled with 2 Nolan Arenado Homers.
Cleveland was eliminated by a 6 – 0 shutout on Sunday as well. The New York Mets took 2 of the 3 games in the Interleague series. Since the Tribe has played so few games, they were assigned the 18th place finish already.
Finally, the Tigers were bageled 1 – 0 by Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros. Detroit is also tied for last place in the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor – with owning 5 different results with the Padres, Rays and Jays.
Quite surprising with their potent offense, that Toronto has not tallied 8 runs in a game yet, it is believable they have not scored zero or runs though. Read the rest of this entry

Hunter Stokes (Our chief writer) wrote a piece that was picked up by MLB Trade Rumors blogroll, stating that Jerry DiPoto has done a poor job in constructing the current team based on the roster tree here.
I agree with him 100% on this, especially on the moves, the Bullpen not being 100% finished yet, the Starting Rotation too reliant on their top 2 pitchers – and we have had several of their fans take some jabs at us for going with these notions.
The club’s brass has had a better winter in 2013 going into 2014, then they had last year, however it still doesn’t alleviate the fact, this team can’t sustain one injury to any of their top players because of said moves to deplete their depth.
The Starting Staff is composed of 60% of youth that is not used to toting long innings in Garrett Richards, Hector Santiago and Tyler Skaggs.
The team has a lot of players that will strikeout a lot, so it is also important to receive key HRs at crucial times in the game.
The club will also lose 34 HRs worth of power they received from Mark Trumbo in 2013, but it was the right time to move him. Whether they received enough of a return is yet to be determined, but it also cut down the whiffs for 2014.

“Stoking The Fire” – Week 10
As someone who follows the Angels from a distance, I have had it with Jerry DiPoto.
Whether it is the direction of the team’s brass that has been affected, or Arte Moreno himself, this team is heading on a one way ticket to salary hell.
So how does the GM respond this winter?
He trades his 2nd, 4th and possibly 5th best OF on the Roster Depth away – without yielding a OF back in return.
He has added on a couple of players (David Freese and Raul Ibanez) that Strikeout as much as the rest of the clan. Good work man!
Am I missing something? Does he not see this is the recipe for disaster?
