Who Owns October (#WOO) Tallies Updated For October 16, 2018

Boston Herald Staff photo by Christopher Evans
Jackie Bradley Jr. is hitting the hardest .200 I’ve ever seen in a series. He doesn’t get many hit, but MAN he makes them count.
The Red Sox were already up 4-2 when he came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the 8th. J. D. Martinez and Steve Pearce already made their marks with the bat. Nathan Eovaldi continued to be the ace of the post season.
But Jackie Bradley Jr.’s grand slam put the game away and suddenly put the Red Sox, who looked over matched in the series opener, in the driver’s seat.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers took a 13th inning thriller to make sure their NLCS will be a potential classic. Cody Bellinger didn’t start the game, but he made sure to end it.
So who owned October?
Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO (Who Owns October.)
And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.
At the end of the post season, we will see who had the highest WOO total as a pitcher and a hitter.
A complete description of the rules can be found HERE.
From October 16, 2018
ALCS Game 3:
NLCS Game 4:
Receiving 1 WOO
Cody Bellinger came off the bench to go 2 for 4, including the walk off 13th inning single, giving the Dodgers a 2-1 win over the Brewers.
Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a 2 out 8th inning grand slam that broke the game wide open, giving the Red Sox an 8-2 victory over the Astros.
Nathan Eovaldi threw 6 strong innings, holding Houston to 2 runs, earning the 8-2 decision for the Red Sox.
Kenley Jansen threw a pair of critical shutout innings in relief to set up the Dodgers dramatic 2-1 extra inning defeat of the Brewers.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Jose Altuve reached base three times and scored both Astros run but they would fall to Boston, 8-2.
Ryan Braun collected 3 hits but was stranded each time in the Brewers 2-1 extra inning loss to the Dodgers.
Dallas Keuchel worked through early trouble to give the Astros 5 innings, allowing 2 Boston runs. The bullpen would drop the 8-2 final.
Freddy Peralta came out of the bullpen during a second inning emergency. He responded with a 3 inning shutout and no hit post season debut, striking out 6 Dodgers along the way. The Brewers would fall in 13 innings, 2-1.

Sully Baseball Podcast – Realistic NL Wild Card Anarchy and Choosing NOT to be Miserable – August 24, 2018

Jennifer Stewart/Getty Images North America
There is a realistic scenario for a series of one game, winner take all playoff games this October featuring teams that have a legitimate shot to win the NL Pennant. That is a cool thing.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox have a shot to have their best regular season ever, which would be great even if they don’t win the World Series.
Choosing happiness in this episode of Sully Baseball.

Sully Baseball Podcast – Cooler Adrian Gonzalez and Media Bias for Cy Youngs – September 22, 2017

There are at least 4 and maybe as many as 7 managerial openings in baseball at Bad things happen to teams when Adrian Gonzalez is on the active roster. Not saying he is the cause. Just making an observation.
Meanwhile Ken Gura ( @kengura463inCLE on Twitter ) has some thoughts on media bias.
Agreed! But, I think the biased media will vote otherwise. Comes down to CLE or Boston

Sully Baseball Podcast – The Ervin Santana Quandary for Minnesota – June 13, 2017

Jason O. Watson/Getty Images North America
The Twins are in first place and Ervin Santana is a big reason for that. He is also one of the best trade chips in the game right now. Should the Twins go for it or cash in Santana at top value?
Also, in honor of Twins manager Paul Molitor, the Milwaukee Brewers team that should have won.
Should I stay or should I go on this episode of Sully Baseball.
Sully Baseball Podcast – The First Weekly Show – April 6, 2017
Did you miss me?
How could you? I was only gone 3 days! In the first edition of the new weekly version of the podcast, I reminded us how important the early games of the season can be.
Plus in the Teams That Should Have Won segment, I honor the 2011 Phillies, who should have made history. Instead they fell in a heap.
It may not be daily anymore, but it still feels good to float down the River Sully in this episode of Sully Baseball.
The Last Daily Episode of the Sully Baseball Podcast – April 2, 2017
After 1,622 straight days of doing a daily podcast, never missing a day, the streak is ending today.
The format will change from daily to weekly. But before I make the change, I wanted to acknowledge the strange 4 1/2 year journey that comprised the single most fun I have ever had doing a creative project.
Thanks for these past 1,622 days of joining you and let’s look forward to what the future may bring.
One thing ends as a season begins on the final episode of Sully Baseball DAILY Podcast.

Now comes the hard part: Building on it.
Let’s start the season already on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Some teams pick badly in the MLB Draft.
But two teams whiffed on picks where they could have put a star in a pennant winning situation.
Essentially they are the Darko Milicics of baseball.

The latest installment of the Teams That Should Have Won is the 1993 San Francisco Giants.
The Giants have had a lot of near misses and a lot of recent titles. But a win in 1993 would have been something really special.

THE TEAMS THAT SHOULD HAVE WON series continues.
It is tough to feel for the Yankees and their misery needs to be graded on a curve. But I have no doubt that Yankee fans would have given anything to add 2001 to their World Series collection.

@sullybaseball If you pull all MLB pitchers from the WBC, it will cease to exist. Is that what you’re going for?

The WBC is well meaning but even its supporters can’t separate it from a spring training game.
I have ideas how to fix it, but if it goes away, I won’t be sad.

Baseball is meant to be a diversion or a distraction from every day life. But often the players, the key distractors, have real life interfere with their production on the field. Jake Peavy, dealing with a prolonged divorce is the latest example of reality colliding with fantasy.

@sullybaseball Sunday request. If Scherzer has 3 more top 5 Cy Young years, has he had an under the radar HOF career?

Max Scherzer certainly has had a peak and highlights worthy of Hall of Fame merit.
But he needs several more years of it and some early warning signs are troublesome.
