Let’s see owned baseball on July 22, 2019
Earning Full WOBs:
Mitch Garver homered twice and singled as the Twins held on to top the Yankees, 8-6.
Sonny Gray held the Brewers to 1 run over 6 innings. He did not get the decision but helped set up the Reds dramatic 6-5 win.
Ivan Nova threw a complete game victory, allowing 1 run while striking out 5 Marlins en route to a 9-1 final for the White Sox.
Eugenio Suárez hit 2 homers including a clutch 2 out, 2 run come from behind shot that put the Reds ahead of Milwaukee for good, 6-5.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Branden Kline gave the Orioles 2 1/3 shutout innings out of the bullpen to help stop the bleeding. But the Diamondbacks would double them up, 6-3.
D. J. LeMahieu reached base 4 times, including a homer, in the Yankees 8-6 loss in Minnesota.
Tyler Saladino launched a go ahead grand slam and even stole a base but the Brewers collapsed in the 9th, allowing the Reds to take the 6-5 final
Trevor Williams struck out 7 Cardinals in 5 innings, allowing a single run. The Pirates bullpen could not hold down the game and lost the wild 6-5 final in 10.

Trey Mancini homered twice, driving in 3, in the Orioles 5-0 win over Boston.
Asher Wojciechowski took a no hitter into the 7th and finished with 7 1/3 shutout innings, 1 hit and 10 strikeouts as the Orioles blanked the Red Sox, 5-0.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Anthony DeSclafani allowed 1 earned run and 1 unearned run in 6 innings, fanning 11 St. Louis batters along the way. The Reds bats were dead and dropped the 3-1 final.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered and doubled, driving in 3, but the Blue Jays came up short against Detroit, 4-3.
Lance Lynn struck out 12 Astros in 7 innings but took the hard luck 5-3 loss for the Rangers.
Ketel Marte reached base 4 times, scored twice and stole a base but the Diamondbacks fell to Milwaukee, 7-4.

Clayton Kershaw struck out 10 Marlins in 6 scoreless innings. He did not get the decision but set up the Dodgers 10-6 victory.
José Urquidy was brilliant in his third major league start, striking out 9 Rangers in 7 innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 run to earn the 6-1 win for Houston.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Zack Greinke threw 7 strong innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 9 Brewers. The Diamondbacks bullpen dropped the 8-3 final.
Brian McCann collected 3 hits, including a home run, but the Braves fell to Washington, 5-3.
Adam Plutko allowing 2 hits and 1 run over 7 innings but was saddled with the hard luck 1-0 Cleveland loss to Kansas City.
Anthony Santander went 4 for 5 with a homer and a pair of run scored but the Orioles were pounded by the Red Sox, 17-6.

Chris Sale struck out 12 in 6 innings of 2 hit shutout ball as the Red Sox blanked Toronto, 5-0.
Stephen Strasburg went 3 for 3 with a homer and 5 RBI, owning the night as a hitter all the while throwing 5 1/3 innings, striking out 7 Braves to earn the 13-4 decision as a pitcher for the Nationals.
Gio Urshela went 3 for 4 in the opening game of a doubleheader, homering and driving in 3 runs to help the Yankees beat Tampa Bay, 6-2. He added a walk in the 5-1 nightcap win.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Kiké Hernández homered twice and singled twice, driving in 4 runs in the Dodgers 7-6 loss in Philadelphia.
Jake Jewell stopped the bleeding and gave the Angels 3 innings of shutout relief and a chance to comeback. But the Houston lead was too large in the 6-2 final.
Yoán Moncada got 3 hits, including a home run, but the White Sox came up short against Kansas City, 6-5.
Noah Syndergaard gave the Mets 7 strong innings, striking out 8 San Francisco batters while allowing 1 run. He was long gone from the game by the time the Giants walked off 3-2 in 16.

Jurickson Profar homered twice and walked in the A’s 10-2 beating of the Mariners.
Amed Rosario reached base 4 times, including a home run, to help the Mets top Minnesota, 14-4.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Chris Archer struck out 8 Cardinals in 6 innings but did not factor in the decision as the Pirates fell 6-5.
Teoscar Hernández homered two times in the Blue Jays 5-4 loss in Boston.
Martín Pérez held the Mets to 1 run and 5 hits over 6 innings. The Twins bullpen collapsed and the final score was a lopsided 14-4.
Trevor Story went 3 for 5 with a homer and 2 RBI but the Rockies were out slugged by the Giants in an 11-8 final.

Travis d’Arnaud homered to lead off the game, homered again later in the game and then completed the home run trio with a dramatic 3 run shot come from behind show with 2 outs in the 9th inning, driving in all of Tampa Bay’s runs in their shocking win over the Yankees.
Jakob Junis struck out 10 White Sox over 7 innings, allowing 1 run in the Royals 5-2 victory.
Miles Mikolas threw a complete game 8 hit shutout, striking out 3 Pirates and walking none to earn the 7-0 decision for St. Louis.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Kyle Hendricks pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs but did not fare in the decision as the Cubs fell to the Reds, 6-3.
Keston Hiura singled, doubled and tripled, driving in a run and stole a base for good measure but the Brewers were doubled up by the Braves, 4-2.
James Paxton allowed 2 runs over 6 innings, striking out 7 Tampa Bay batters. The Yankee bullpen would blow his lead and the 5-4 game.

Ryan Yarbrough came into the game in the third inning and took the combined perfect game into the 9th. He would surrender 2 hits and a run over 6 1/3 innings and earn the 4-1 decision for Tampa Bay over the Orioles.

Xander Bogaerts reached base 4 times including a homer, in the Red Sox 12 inning 7-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Cal Quantrill blanked the Braves in his 6 innings of work, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk. He would not fare in the decision as the Padres fell, 4-1.
Christian Yelich homered and singled but the Brewers dropped the 8-3 game to San Francisco.

Dansby Swanson hit a double and two homers, driving in 5, to help the Braves double up the Phillies, 12-6.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Starlin Castro collected 3 hits, including a double, in the Marlins 5-2 loss to Washington.
Yonny Chirinos threw 7 solid innings, striking out 5 Yankees and giving up 3 runs. The wild 8-4 game was a bullpen affair lost by the Rays.
Danny Jansen homered twice and added another hit, driving in 5, but the Blue Jays bullpen dropped the 8-7 game to the Red Sox.
Brandon Woodruff allowed an early run and shut the Reds out for the rest of his 6 innings of work. That run was one too many as the Brewers were blanked, 1-0.

Clayton Richard threw 6 innings, allowing 3 runs and struck out 4 Royals en route to an easy 11-4 win for the Blue Jays.
Jeff Samardzija gave the Giants 8 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 Padres to get the 13-2 victory.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Thomas Eshelman held the Rays to 2 runs over 5 innings. He would not get the decision as the Orioles bullpen lost the 6-3 game.
Tyler Mahle struck out 8 Brewers in 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks. The Reds would drop the 8-6 final.
Renato Núñez singled and doubled, scoring a run, but the Orioles were doubled up by the Rays, 6-3
