Let’s see owned baseball on August 4, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Shane Bieber threw a complete game victory, striking out 8 Angels while only allowing 2 runs to earn the 6-2 decision for Cleveland.

Shin-Soo Choo reached base 5 times, scoring 3 and driving in another to help the Rangers top Detroit, 9-4.

Sonny Gray threw 7 shutout innings, holding Atlanta to 4 hits. The Reds bullpen would blow the lead but the bats would come to the rescue in extra innings for the 6-4 final.

Max Muncy went 4 for 5 with a homer and a walk off 2 run double in the bottom of the 9th to give the Dodgers a wild 11-10 victory over San Diego.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Randal Grichuk went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles but Toronto fell to Baltimore, 6-5.

Brad Keller threw 7 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 7. But the Royals were blanked by Minnesota, 3-0.

Donovan Solano hit a pair of homers in the Giants 6-2 loss to Colorado.

Adam Wainwright pitched into the 6th innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 7 Oakland batters but was on the wrong end of a 4-2 decision for St. Louis.

Earning Full WOBs:

Michael Brosseau went 3 for 5 with 2 homers to help the Rays take the second game of a double header from Baltimore, 12-4. He also walked in the opening 2-1 loss.

Phillip Ervin matched a Reds record with 6 hits, including a double and a triple, throwing in a stolen base and 3 RBI for good measure in the 17-9 slug fest victory in Colorado.

Brad Keller allowed 1 run and no walks over 8 innings to earn the 4-1 decision for Kansas City over Detroit.

Noah Syndergaard struck out 9 Marlins in 7 innings, allowing 2 runs to give the Mets a 4-2 win.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Brendan McKay struck out 7 Orioles in 5 shutout innings in the Rays 2-1 double header opener loss.

Daniel Murphy reached base 5 times, including a homer, scoring twice but the Rockies dropped the wild 17-9 game to the Reds.

Aaron Nola gave up 1 run over 6 strong innings, striking out 9 Nationals and walking none. The Phillies bullpen would implode in the 9th and give up the 4-3 final.

Danny Santana doubled, homered and stole a base but the Rangers fell to the Astros, 7-6 in 11 innings.

 Trevor Story homered 3 times to lead the first place Rockies past the Giants, 5-3.

Shohei Ohtani collected 4 hits, including 2 homers, walked and stole a base as the Angels clobbered Texas, 9-3.

Sandy Alcantara held the Phillies scoreless over 7 innings, giving up 3 hits as the Marlins won, 2-1.

Corey Kluber struck out 10 Royals in 6 2/3 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run to earn the 3-1 decision for the Indians.

They all owned baseball on September 5, 2018

Steve Pearce hit 3 homers, including a go ahead 3 run shot, to lead the Red Sox stunning offensive outpouring against the Yankees, 15-7.

Yasiel Puig homered twice and singled, driving in 4 runs as the Dodgers smoked the Brewers, 21-5.

Reynaldo Lopez allowed 2 runs over 7 innings, striking out 4 Royals as the White Sox won, 6-4.

Max Scherzer struck out 10 Reds in 6 innings to earn the 10-4 decision for Washington.

James Paxton struck out 11 Royals over 8 innings of 2 hit shutout ball to set up the Mariners razor thin 1-0 victory.

Aaron Hicks homered three times, drove in 4 and added a walk for good measure to help the Yankees clobber the Red Sox, 11-1.

Mike Foltynewicz allowed 1 hit and no runs over 5 innings, striking out 9 Cardinals as the Braves held on to the 6-5 final.

Matt Kemp homered, doubled and singled, driving in 4, to help the Dodgers creep closer to first place with a 6-4 win over Colorado.
