Jeff Samardzija pitched into the 8th, finishing with 1 earned run over 7 2/3 innings. He also singled and doubled, driving in 3 to help the Giants snap a skid and top the Marlins, 8-1.

Jose Quintana threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits and earned the 5-0 win for the White Sox against Texas.

Edinson Volquez threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk and earned the 4-0 decision for the Royals over Detroit.

Robinson Cano went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI including a dramatic 3 run 2 out 10th inning homer that was the difference in Seattle’s 10-7 win in Cleveland.
