Sully Baseball Podcast – First Impressions of the Trade Deadline While in San Francisco – July 31, 2018

While standing outside in San Francisco, I share my initial thoughts of the trade deadline.
The Pirates may have helped themselves the most, bleeding into 2019. The Nationals probably should have seen what Harper could have fetched.
But the Mets botched the entire day and continue to doom their franchise.
Wheeling and dealing by the Bay in this episode of Sully Baseball.

Sully Baseball Podcast – Honoring Poppi Kramer and Examining the Illusion of Baseball’s Timelessness – July 28, 2018

Poppi Kramer, comedian and friend and guest of the podcast, died this week. Her death affected me as I have strong memories of our mutual love for the game.
And losing her made me examine the illusion of timelessness in baseball and how we recoil when we see that change and finality are possible in our game.
A little sad in this episode of Sully Baseball.
Here are some of Poppi’s previous appearances on the podcast.

Sully Baseball Podcast – No Outfielders Pitching In Tie Games Plus Wild Days in Pittsburgh and Oakland – July 25, 2018

Jeffrey McWhorter / Associated Press
The Phillies and Dodgers saw a head to head match up of first place teams end with an outfielder pitching in extra innings. That shouldn’t happen. There should be ties in baseball.
Meanwhile the Nationals season is heading for disaster while the Pirates and A’s are somehow contenders.
Making sense of the senseless in this episode of Sully Baseball.

The Sully Baseball In Memoriam Video for 2018
![]()
It is a Sully Baseball tradition. At the All Star Break, I produce an In Memoriam Video. I honor those members of the baseball family we lost since last year’s All Star Game.
Lots of great figures are included into the video I am releasing here.
I pay tribute to those figures, some of them all time greats, some more obscure, but all contribute to the game.
Here is the video.
Here are the previous In Memoriam Videos.
The original one, produced with Rafael Rivera, in 2014, featuring Tony Gwynn and Ralph Kiner.
The edition for 2015, also produced with Rafael Rivera, honored Ernie Banks and Minnie Minosa among others.
In 2016, I produced the video on my own and saw time to salute legends such as Monte Irvin and Yogi Berra.
And in 2017, I produced the video that gave tribute to Jose Fernandez, Jim Bunning and many more.
Sully Baseball Podcast – I’m Still Here – July 16, 2018

I am back podcasting after taking a few weeks to deal with an unpleasantness called “REALITY.”
I talk about the Cardinals managerial situation, Jose Oquendo’s resume, the charging A’s and the making of the In Memoriam video.
