Nelson Cruz hit 2 HRs to increase his MLB and AL lead to 19 for the year. He also put forth his 2nd Multi HR game, and 5th different consecutive HR streak of the year.
Cruz is on pace for 60 HRs as of now, the Orioles OF has also increased his RBI lead in the AL to 48.
He also leads the AL in SLG% (.663) OPS (1.039) and TB (128)

Stanton + Cruz Take Over NL + AL Leads For HRs: 3 Hit Multi HRs FRI – 0 HR Streaks For Sat

It is scary to only think the Giancarlo Stanton is just 25 years of age. This man is asserting himself as the premiere HR hitter in the National League in 2014 with 14 HRs so far,. The Marlins OF has also netted 47 RBI. and 114 Total Bases, both of which are NL leading. Teams have already intentionally walked him 9 times, which is another league leading category for him. Miami is 25 – 24 on the season, and they owe Stanton a huge amount of thanks for why. Miami has also hit 48 HRs in 26 home games so far this year.

Giancarlo Stanton (don’t call him Mike, even though everyone wants to be like him) had his 3rd Multi HR game of the year, and took over sole possession of 1st place in the NL HR Race.
Stanton’s teammate Garrett Jones also did yard two times (7th teammates of 2014 to accomplish the feat).
Even though these Marlins did this, Mark Reynolds destroyed 2 baseballs over the fence himself, to help the Brewers overcome the 4 HR barrage by the Fish.
Given up for dead by many clubs, Reynolds also pole vaulted himself into 4th place in the HR Race. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers Losing Fielder For The Year May Be A Fatal Short Term Blow: But Maybe Not For The Long Term

Losing Prince Fielder for the year is somewhat catastrophic to the team, but it doesn’t have to be a death sentence to the 2014 year. The big 1B was not part of the 15 – 9 start the team put forth, before a rough 8 – 15 slide since then. Pitching will save the day, and the organization may look to add some players that don’t require a ton of assets to ascertain. If the club has bad next month,, it could also be time to sell some players off and retool for 2015. Fielder will have neck surgery, and when you are talking about possible spinal fusing, it is not an injury to be recovered from quickly

The Rangers have quite likely lost Prince Fielder for the year – with pending neck surgery. He joins a long list of players currently on the ‘MASH’ unit.
Derek Holland, Matt Harrison, Leonys Martin, Donnie Murphy, Joseph Ortiz, Martin Perez, Joe Saunders, Tanner Scheppers, Geovany Soto, Dan Robertson Jurickson Profar, Engel Beltre, Kevin Kouzmanoff, Josh Wilson, James Adduci, Pedro Figueroa are all on the sick bay right now.
About half of them are not coming back this year potentially.
Adrian Beltre and Yu Darvish have also spent time on the DL this campaign.
The 16 players currently on the list above could virtually make up 2/3rds of the team. Read the rest of this entry

Once a club has one of these run totals once, you cross it off and keep going until they complete the 11 different variations. We are going to keep tracking this category – until all 30 MLB clubs are finished this season!
The Orioles and Pirates both won the last two nights while scoring 9 runs as the victor in the Interleague Series between them. Baltimore won 9 – 2 on Tuesday, and the Bucs won 9 – 8 over the O’s last night.
They became the 16th and 17th teams to complete the 11 totals.
Scoring 9 runs is the hardest total to come across for the clubs.
Milwaukee finally accomplished the 9 run game Friday night, to join the party as the 18 team to complete.
In a surprise, the Dodgers still haven’t scored 10 runs in a game yet. They would still be the favorite to be the next club to finish this task. Read the rest of this entry

Odds To Win The 2014 MLB World Series – Updated For Week 8 + Best Value Bets

If Chris Davis is at his HR centric best, all of a sudden this team is lethal from Nelson Cruz, to Adam Jones, and hence should I say a healthy Matt Wieters crushing from the DH slot, or potentially this team could ink a Morales, or trade for another guy. Pitching Staff is holding up, and now it is time for this team to roll. Having New York, Toronto and Boston so heavily favored over them for this category is a farce. Take the +3500 value.

I had my worst week for prognosticating the best odds, however I made up for it, with the worst odds of the week. In all, I was 4 – 4 – 2 for the week. I still have not had a losing record, and many winning ones.
The Rays and Royals have plummeted in their odds for the World Series. I am not sure about either one of them getting back into the race, although that Tampa +5000 this week is very tempting.
The Kansas City offense is a joke. They should sign Kendrys Morales after June, and then turn around and trade Billy Butler. Morales won’t make much more than “Country Breakfast” and is a more consistent hitter all around.
You could also acquire some more depth somewhere else for Butler’s services. Heck, Seattle needs a DH right now, and they aren’t even calling Morales for all we know, and are going with Nick Franklin until Corey Hart is back. Read the rest of this entry
TOP 5 HRs AL/NL, (HR Streaks 5 Active: (3) Upton, (2): EE,Chavez,Gonzalez,Rollins) Multi HR Games + Davis’s Big Night

Edwin Encarnacion is pistol hot at the plate right now, with 7 HRs and 14 RBI in the last 12 Games Played. In that time frame, he is carrying a 1.127 OPS. EE began May with just 2 HRs, and now he is tied for 4th in the AL with 11 big flies on the campaign. The Blue Jays 1B hit a HR for the 2nd straight game Tues night – after featuring his 3rd Multi HR contest since May 8th. EE also had a 3 game HR streak from May 6 – May 8.

Edwin Encarnacion had a Multi HR Game for the 3rd time since May 8th last night. This guy is sickly hot at the plate right now.

The Canadian franchise’s 1B now is tied with 4 other guys for 4th place (including teammate Jose Bautista) in the AL – with 11 HRs.

Odds To Win The 2014 MLB World Series – Updated For Week 7 + Best Value Bets

I sound like a broken record, but where is the love for this team? Okay, they may not win this thing, but at +4500, and they have an easy AL Central schedule for the rest of the year, great pitching – and could trade for a batter. Best Value on the Board – rated as the 19th longest shot.
Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer): Follow @stokes_hunter21

For my best bets last week – I was 4 – 0 – 1. Cleveland has stayed at +8000, TB has risen from +3300 to this week +3000. The Pirates went from +6600 to +5000 and the Orioles went from +4500 to +4000. I was also right on the the Royals going from +5000 – +4500.
With the +4500: This is pretty stupid considering KC is 20 – 19, and would be considered tied for the Wild Card Spot. Clearly with the White Sox, Twins and Indians, they have one of the better strength of schedules favoring them.
Also, love Yordano Ventura becoming better as the year carries on, and have Danny Duffy pitching frames again as a starter. The offense is starting to heat up a little bit. They will be my best bet of this week.
I went 2 – 2 – 1 with my worst odds on the board, as the A’ stayed the same for yet another week. The Angels proved me wrong by climbing from +1400 – +1200 and SF shot up from +1400 all the way to +1100.
I had the Marlins on the way down, and they plummeted from +6600 last week to +12500 this week,
Toronto also went from +2800 + 3000 In my favor.

2014’s Top Home Run Hitters: AL/NL, HR Streaks (5 Active) + Multi HRs Games
There were a lot of HRs hit for how few games there were on a shortened Monday schedule last evening. Yasiel Puig hit a mammoth HR to erase a 2 run deficit into a lead.
The 2nd Year Dodger is on fire right now, and has hit back to back HRs in the last few games.
After a slower start, the 23 Year Old is now resembling the player he was last year, featuring a .318/.408/.551 3 Slash Line for the campaign – with 7 HRs and 29 RBI.
These totals put him on pace for about 33 HRs and 120 RBI for the year if he keeps it up. He will quickly be reengaged into the NL MVP Voting if his is the case. Read the rest of this entry
30 MLB Team Power Rankings: Week 7 – May 2014

The Mariners are 10 – 4 in their last 14 games – without receiving any outstanding play from one particular player. They are the biggest jumpers in this weeks rankings, going from #20 – #15. We are almost at the quarter pole for action in the MLB.
The biggest mover and shakers this week were the Seattle Mariners, followed by Baltimore Orioles. LA Angels and San Francisco Giants.
Plummeting in the other directions were led by the Phils, who we dropped from 17th to 24th.
The Yankees, Nationals, Dodgers and Rangers all lost 4 places in the rankings based on sub-par weeks.
The AL New York franchise is about 1 bad week from free-falling to the AL East. Right now the team has received buoyancy because of ace Masahiro Tanaka being 5 – 0.
Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran are having a tough time finding their rhythm with the Bronx Bombers.
I believe the Dodgers will rectify their situation shortly and take off.
Washington is barely over .500 even though most of their players are playing to their capabilities.
The Royals offense is destroying their team morale, as is the Mets having a tough time with the Relief Core, and their Pitchers are still battling .000 for the year like you and me.
Oakland is still leading the MLB in wins since the start of the 2012 year.
The Red Sox are one of the most likely teams to climb the standings in the next few weeks.
With the Cards not playing well, keep in mind, 18 of the next 21 games reside in Busch Stadium for them. It is time to make some headway.
The AL has fashioned a 18 – 8 mark in Interleague this week to apply a 34 – 33 overall lead on the NL now.
The Rockies are blasting every baseball into orbit right now. These guys are hitting as well at home as the Pre-Humidor ERA. Read the rest of this entry
Odds To Win The 2014 MLB World Series – Updated For Week 6

Yes the Rays are playing terrible baseball at 15 – 21, but they are only 4 games behind the playoff bar. They always start off the year slow – and the exponentially become better as the year wears on. When Alex Cobb comes back – they have the best Starting Rotation in the AL East, and I think they are most capable of making a run at a playoff berth. At +3300, Tied for 14th longest odd, I am placing them the best value on the board, given their pedigree for strong second half’s.
Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer): Follow @stokes_hunter21

My best value picks last week I was 3 – 2, 1. The Royals dropped from +3500 – +5000, 2. Reds went from +5000 – +4000, TB went from +2500 – +3300, as the Orioles went from +5000 – 4500, and the Cards went from +1100 – +1000.
I still believe the Royals will turn around their season – and may beat the AL teams cannibalizing each other for a Wild Card Stretch. They went 47 – 34 down the pike, and may just be a better 2nd half club.
The Orioles at +700 for the AL East is a better wager than the +4500 right now, as i don’t believe they have the tools to win the World Series, but they could eek out the Division.
The Reds are hanging in despite injury, and I think the Brewers will fall back, so it is just the Cards to contend with in the long run, and Cincy is just 1 Game behind those guys. +4000 is still a great value.
The Rays are totally struggling as we speak at 15 – 21, however they are just 4 games behind the playoff bar, and should be receiving Alex Cobb back shortly.
Out of all of the AL East teams, they are probably best suited for a 20 – 5 stretch with their pitching. They will be the best odd this week.
Worst Odds on the Board I was right in my assessment on 2, broke even on the other 2 – and neglected to think the Jays would move up, but they did from +3000 – +2800. SF and Oak were the draws both keeping their previous odd.
The #1 worst odd pick of last week was Boston, and they dropped from +1200 +1400.
My 2nd worst odd was Cleveland at +5500 – and they skyrocketed down the road all the way to +8000.
So for the week, I fashioned a 5 – 3 – 2 overall record for value plays. Keep reading at the end of this post too see my picks this week. Read the rest of this entry
2014 MLB Team Runs Survivor Through Games Played May.08: 14 Teams Complete Including ALL The AL Central

High praise to the Cubs (won’t happen much this year) for at least scoring 10+ runs in a game yesterday. When this was accomplished to avoid a 4 game sweep to city rivals the White Sox, they had their 11th run variation from 0 – 10. They were the 5th NL squad to complete the mission. I thought it would take them much longer to score enough runs in a game – to punch out the 8, 9 and 10 run game totals respectively.

2014 Top Home Run Hitters: AL/NL, HR Streaks (5 Active) + Multi HRs: The Heavy Hitters Are Finally Awake

The 2012 and 2013 AL MVP finally is putting it all together. Miguel Cabrera has helped bash Detroit to an 8 game wining streak, and has finally hit HRs in back to back games. After hitting for a decent average for a few weeks, the 31 Year Old 1B has been racking up RBI, and is adding power back to his repertoire. I picked him to lead the AL and Giancarlo Stanton to lead tie him for the most in the MLB with 49 each. I think the guy could still do it. He blasted 44 HRs last year, when he couldn’t even hit for power during the last 6 weeks of 2013.
Also effectively off the snide is Adrian Beltre, who clubbed a Round Tripper in the last 2 games the Rockies have obliterated the Rangers. It may come as little solace to the now 17 – 17 Texas team, but your Silver Slugger 3B is starting to mash.

Odds To Win The 2014 Divisions: Colorado Biggest Jump As A Favorite

Matt Wieters is off to an outstanding start to the 2014 season, and it would be a crying shame if the Catcher had to be shelved with a position player Tommy John Surgery. The 27 Year Old Veteran has slashed .341/.374/.560 with 5 HRs and 18 RBI so far this campaign. Wieters has one more year of Arbitration Eligibility before he hits the open market in 2016. With the early season slumping for the Dodgers, and injury woes, I liked the Rox value at the clip it was at.
Fast forward to today, and the odd is now at +750.
In the AL East, I talked about the Orioles doing a good job weathering the storm before Manny Machado was back.
This club still hasn’t received steady contributions from an injured Chris Davis, or a slumping Adam Jones, but they sit tied for 1st place with New York.

2014 Top Home Run Hitters: AL/NL, HR Streaks (3 Active) + Multi HRs: Myers + Stanton W/Big Days

Giancarlo Stanton is healthy, motivated and when he is on, no ballparks can hold his behemoth blasts. Of his 10 HRs, 9 of them have traveled further than 400 Feet. In the young season, Stanton leads the NL with HRs (10), the Majors with RBI (36) and Total Bases (NL – 74). The 24 Year Old from Panorama, CA has Slashed .285/.362/.603 – and is a major reason why the Marlins are just a game and a half behind the NL Division Leading Braves.

It was quite the day yesterday for the Tater Trots in the MLB. Giancarlo Stanton hit 2 big thunderous HRs – to take sole possession of the NL HR lead, in carrying his team to a series win versus the Dodgers, and the Marlins are now 14 – 5 at New Marlins Ball Park this year.
George Kottaras came off the scrap heap to paste 2 shots over the fence. These HRs represented the only two big flies of the year for the Catcher.
Brandon Crawford hit 2 HRs in the GIants sweep of the Atlanta Braves. Where Pablo Sandoval has failed for power so far, the INF tandem of “Team Brandon, Belt, Hicks and Crawford” have combined for 16 HRs in 277 AB from the 1B/2B and 3B.
When you throw in Buster Posey‘s totals, then it is 23 HRs in 382 AB. “Kung Fu” 3B needs to get off the snide in his contract year.
Wil Myers continues his ownership of the Yankees, with an Inside The Park 3 run HR, and adding an RBI Double – keying a 5 -1 win over the Bronx Bombers and CC Sabathia, clinching the series 2/3.

Desmond Jennings was counted on to fill the void left by B.J. Upton when he took over the CF position in 2013. It wasn’t a banner year – although he still stole 20 bags and scored 82 Runs – with a .748 OPs.. With him hitting a HR for the 2nd straight game in a 10 – 5 14 Inning marathon tilt versus the Yankees, it vaulted the Rays to a 3 game winning Streak. 2014 has been a kinder campaign to the 27 Year Old originally from Birmingham, AL – as he has slashed .277/.378/.463 – with 16 Walks, 6 SB and 16 Runs Scored in his 28 Games Played. The HR contraption that is the CF wall in MIA. Could the club be relaying signals from opposing catchers by having the fish illuminate during play at New Marlins Ball Park. “Oh Bull Durham” on that. The huge device goes spiraling around once a Marlins jacks a ball that goes over the wall for a Homer. While the 1st 2 years the device never saw much action, it is being worn out by Miami this year. This has teams like Atlanta speculating on some “TomFoolery.”

The Braves had themselves a weird 3 game set in Miami, where they lost 3 games, gave up 23 runs, and have accused the Marlins of stealing signs for pitches.
It is a weird phenomenon how devastating the Miami squad has bashed at New Marlins Ballpark, but for young guys on their team to figure out cadences and relays from the Braves backstoppers is a little bit too far fetched,
I love how the Home Run monstrosity in CF may be the culprit of sending the secret codes out to the hitters.
Miami has added several (3TO guys this year like Garrett Jones and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.) 3TO stands for 3 True Outs, either via a BB/SO or you round the Bases without having the ball touch the field inside the playing surface.
Also, Florida has been one of the only places not to be plagued by weather in the MLB. Bash on Miami, you are an entertaining team to watch – and have joined your 4 other teams in the NL East at .500 or better – at least for one day. Read the rest of this entry

Last Weeks best bet on the board that we slated was the Colorado Rockies at +6600. With a strong week, and 5 HRs in the last week plus, Troy Tulowitzki has elevated the Rox to near the top of the NL West.
This week, they jumped all the way to +3500, marking the second time in as many weeks, our best bet almost cut their odd in half. We also said the Yankees were a good play at +1600, and they vaulted up to +1200 again,
The Royals have gone 5 – 5 in their last 10 games, and have receded from +3300 – +3500, however this will be one of my top plays this week. These guys are 14 – 12 now, and haven’t even played to potential.
My #4 and #5 picks for best bets had struggles this week. Texas went from +1600 – +1800, which isn’t a massive fall, and the Reds went from +4000 – +5000. Again, I question the logic of placing these guys so far back. Read the rest of this entry
2014′s Top 5 Home Runs AL + NL, HR Streaks (2 Active) + Multi HR Games:

Heading into play last Thursday night, fantasy players and everyone surrounding the Mariners was wondering what had happened to 3B Kyle Seager? He has since nailed 5 HRs in his last 4 games, and is now hitting for a .798 OPS – with 13 RBI in 79 AB on the young season. The last 2 years, Seager has hit 20 and 22 HRs respectively – and been the only player on the squad to have decent RBI totals.

With only 6 games being played last night, there were not too many HRs hit for the contests.
This has left the MLB with 2 current players with HR streaks.
Those players both have clubbed HRs in back to back games, and they are Giants SS Brandon Hicks and Seattle Mariners 3B Kyle Seager, who hit 3 HRs over the Saturday and Sunday games – and has 5 Tater-Trots in the last 4 games.
Seager had exactly zero Home Runs, before squaring 2 baseballs up last Thursday at home versus the Houston Astros, He was blanked by the Rangers on Friday, before doing yard work on Saturday.
Sunday saw the man have his 2n 2 HR game out of 4 contests. Read the rest of this entry
MLB Shutout Survivor 2014: Texas Were Shutout Last Night, Leaving COL + LAA Left

Tulowitzki nearly has an OPS of 1.200 – and has seen his club go 15 – 12 to start the 2014 season. They along with the Angeles, are the only two teams remaining this year to be blanked. Justin Morneau also clubbed a HR in yesterday’s game – giving him 6 HRs (like Tulo) but the big 1B has a 1 RBI lead (21 – 20). Tulowitzki had 2 Doubles and 2 Walks to add to his perfect evening Wed,

It is quite surprising that the Rangers held out this long when you consider the power outage from Prince Fielder – couples with injuries to Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo, but they were blanked for the 1st time last night in the 2014 Season.
Sonny Gray of the Oakland A’s threw a Complete Game Shutout against them, and Yu Darvish so his lifetime record fall to 1 – 7, with a 5.23 ERA versus the Bay Area franchise.
The Rangers have scored 1 run on multiple occasions this year, but had yet to be bageled.
The Angels beat the Indians last evening, by scoring 8 runs. They have not been blanked. The Rockies also used a HR barrage to knock off the SF Giants, and run their streak of not having zero runs in the year yet. Read the rest of this entry

MLB Reports “Junior Reporter” Haley Smilow Interviews David Price!

In 2012, the 28 Year Old, was 20 – 5, with a 2.56 ERA. Price led the AL in Wins, Win% and ERA. 2013 wasn’t as kind to the LHP. He still managed a 3.34 ERA based off a 10 – 8 year. Price was awarded a 1 YR/$14 MIL deal. While the team may have wanted to trade him, they will do so at a point of higher value than what has been offered. Price will become a Free Agent regardless following the 2015 campaign. He is the best pitcher on the Rays, and is a #1 ace in the league. Price has a career record of 74 – 41 (.643) with an incredible 3.26 ERA pitching for a club that resides in the AL East.
