Who Owned Baseball August 23, 2015 (Daily AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVP’s) + 2015 #WOB Standings

ALAN DIAZ/AP

Aaron Nola pitched 8 innings of 3 hit shutout ball, walking 2 and striking out 6 Marlins en route to the 2-0 Philadelphia victory.

Lance McCullers pitched 7 innings, allowing 2 runs, striking out 8 and walking no Dodger batter. He would get a no decision but the Astros would walk off 3-2 winners in 10.

Stephen Piscotty tripled and hit a pair of homers, driving in 5 runs in St. Louis’ 10-3 thumping of the Padres.

Mike Moustakas homered and doubled twice, the second one capping off a 9th inning rally that saw the Royals come from behind and beat Boston, 8-6.

Earning 1/2 WOBs on losing efforts.

Clayton Kershaw allowed 1 run and no walks over 8 innings of work, striking out 10 along the way. He was stupidly pulled from the game and predictably the Dodgers bullpen blew the lead in the 9th and the game in the 10th, 3-2 to Houston.

Kevin Gausman tossed 7 strong innings, giving up just 3 hits and 2 runs, striking out 8 and walking none. He did not factor into the decision as the Orioles fell to Minnesota, 4-3 in 12.

Scooter Gennett singled and homered, scoring twice, in Milwaukee’s 9-5 loss to Washington.

Mike Trout collected 3 hits, including a triple, scored a run and drove in another but the Angels fell to Toronto, 12-5.
