Who Owned Baseball August 13, 2017 (Daily #MLB AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVP’s) + 2017 #WOB Standings

Justin Turner hit 2 homers, driving in 4, to help the Dodgers top San Diego, 6-4.

Whit Merrifield singled, tripled and homered, driving in 5 in the Royals 14-6 drubbing of the White Sox.

Chris Stratton threw shutout ball into the 7th, striking out 10 Nationals in 6 2/3 innings to earn the 4-2 victory for San Francisco.

Chris Sale struck out 12 Yankees in 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 run. He did not get the decision but set up the Red Sox dramatic 3-2 win in 10 innings.

Justin Verlander took a no hitter into the 6th and finished with 8 innings of 1 hit shutout ball, striking out 6 Pirates as the Tigers cruised to a 10-0 final.

Nelson Cruz homered twice, driving in 3 to lead the Mariners past Oakland, 6-3.

Madison Bumgarner threw 7 strong innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 7 Cubs to give the Giants the 3-1 win and take the series against the champs.

Ryan Zimmerman got on base 5 times, hit 2 homers, drove in 5 and scored 4 in the Nationals 10-1 blow out of Miami.

Hyun-Jin Ryu held the Mets scoreless over 7 innings of 1 hit ball, recording 8 strikeouts and getting the Dodgers 8-0 victory.

Jose Martinez had 2 hits, including a grand slam, in the Cardinals 13-4 drubbing of the Reds.

Jake Junis held the Mariners to 1 run over 8 innings, striking out 7 to earn the 9-1 decision for the Royals.

Manny Machado went 4 for 5 with a homer and 5 RBI to lead the Orioles in a 12-3 blow out of Detroit.

Corey Kluber struck out 14 Blue Jays over 7 2/3 solid innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run as the Indians rolled, 8-1.

Whit Merrifield reached base 3 times with a pair of homers. The second blast tied the game in the 8th as the surging Royals walked off over the White Sox, 5-4.

Sal Romano struck out 7 Marlins in 6 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run to earn the 6-3 decision for the Reds.

Mark Reynolds got 3 hits, including 2 homers, driving in 3 in Colorado’s 13-3 blow out of Pittsburgh.

Carlos Beltran reached base 5 times, including a homer and 3 RBI as the Astros staged a wild 16-8 comeback in Minnesota.

Carlos Carrasco struck out 7 A’s in 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs to earn the 5-3 decision for the Indians.

Ryan Zimmerman went 3 for 4 with a homer, scoring twice, in Washington’s bitter 3-0 victory in San Francisco.

Tanner Roark threw 7 shutout innings to lead the Nationals past San Francisco, 3-0.

Wei-Yin Chen threw 7 no hit innings before being lifted. The bullpen lost the no hitter but not the 5-0 final for the Marlins over Seattle.

Nolan Arenado went 3 for 4 with 2 homers to lead the Rockies past the Dodgers, 4-3.

Miguel Gonzalez pitched into the 9th, finishing with 4 hits and 1 run over 8 1/3 innings, earning the 4-1 decision for the White Sox against the Yankees.

Mookie Betts got 3 hits, including a homer, and scored 3 times in the Red Sox 8-7 victory in Toronto.

Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Alex Gordon, Lorenzo Cain, Billy Butler are part of a young core of talent that could really all flourish at the same time.  The franchise had added Veteran  Starting Pitching this year and look as strong as ever to end the 28 year Playoff Drought.  The management and ownership has spent more money than any Royals team in club history.  The will probably battle with the Detroit Tigers all season long for the AL Central Division
