Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/25/16

P- Madison Bumgarner (vs. Philadelphia Phillies): $14,000. Bumgarner has not allowed more than two earned runs in his past 12 starts. He is now 8-3 on the season, with a 1.83 ERA, and 115 strikeouts. In 62 career at bats against Bumgarner, the Phillies’ offense is batting .210, with two home runs, 20 strikeouts, and a .239 OBP.

P- Brandon Finnegan (vs. San Diego Padres): This month has been great for Finnegan. He is 2-1, with a 2.96 ERA, and he has gone six innings while giving up fewer than two runs in three of the last four starts. On the season, he is 3-5, with a 3.81 ERA,with 59 strikeouts.

It is a very confusing episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Exclusive Interview With 2017 Draft Prospect and UNC Tar Heel, J.B. Bukauskas

J.B. has an electrifying fastball and slider combination, which both have potential to be plus-plus pitches. He is also developing a change-up that many scouts believe could solidify him as a top of the rotation starter one day. It’s hard to say which pitch is his best between his fastball and slider. He sits between 93-96 MPH with his fastball, but his slider could be the best breaking ball in the 2017 draft class. His elite combination of pitches, command, and maturity on and off the mound should make him one of the top prospects in the 2017 MLB Draft.

He is one of the top arms in the Cape Cod League this summer. He is also playing with Team USA this summer in Japan, Taiwan, and Cuba.

Today I visited the Belmont Hill School, where my personality and confidence blossomed when I was younger.

I wondered about players who blossomed under the right circumstances and who never got their chance.

It is a “live up to your potential” episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Wei-Yin Chen, Kendal Graveman, Cesar Hernandez, Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, Adam Duvall and Nelson Cruz all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball yesterday.

Wei-Yin Chen threw 7 strong innings, walking none, striking out 7 and allowing just 2 runs. He did not factor into the decision but helped the Marlins defeat the Cubs, 4-2.

Kendall Graveman pitched into the 7th, allowing 2 runs and no walks as the A’s held on to top the Angels, 5-4.

Cesar Hernandez reached base 5 times, scoring 3 times to help the Phillies win 703 against Minnesota.

Dustin Pedroia reached base 4 times, drove in 2 and scored another as the Red Sox salvaged the final game of a 4 game set against the White Sox, 8-7 in extra innings.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/24/16

DraftKings is a lot better for bringing home the bigger jackpots on this system, and we love the ability to swap out players all day.

P – Max Scherzer (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $13,900. In 61 career at bats against Scherzer, the Brewers’ offense is batting .115, with 28 strikeouts, and a .169 OBP. In his last start against Milwaukee, Scherzer held together a perfect game through seven innings. Unfortunately he lost the perfect game in the seventh, but he only gave up one hit with 16 strikeouts in the complete game. In his last three starts, he owns a 2-0 record, 0.90 ERA, and 27 strikeouts.

P – Cody Reed (vs. San Diego Padres): $7,200. In his MLB debut, Reed showed lots of promise. He threw seven innings against the Houston Astros, giving up four runs, and striking out nine. His ability to strike batters out should make him a very good play on Friday. San Diego is ranked 27th in strikeouts, which is great for Reed.

Noah Syndergaard and His Fantasy Owners Dodge A Bullet

I checked my phone yesterday, as I got a notification, and my heart skipped a beat. The notification read, “Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard left today’s game after 6 innings because of elbow discomfort, will see team doctor.” First of all, I’m a huge fan of Thor. Second of all, I own him in two of my fantasy leagues. Third of all, I hate to see another young pitcher plagued by the dreaded Tommy John Surgery. Well have no fear folks, all Thor fans have dodged a bullet.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/23/16

P- Jerad Eickhoff (vs. Minnesota Twins): $9,400. All of the top tier pitchers have tough match-ups on Thursday, but Eickhoff has a very favorable matchup. He will be facing the Minnesota Twins, who have scored the fewest runs in the American League this year. So far in 2016, Eickhoff is 4-9, with a 3.49 ERA, 83 hits against, and 73 strikeouts in 85 innings pitched. His record isn’t pretty, but it is more a matter of lack of run support, which shouldn’t be an issue against the Twins.

P- Tim Lincecum (vs. Oakland Athletics): $7,100. Lincecum dominated the A’s in his season debut on Saturday. The A’s offense has really struggled recently, so Lincecum should be able to take care of business again on Thursday. Over the last seven games, the A’s rank 29th in runs, 29th in OBP, and 29th in slugging. This will also be Lincecum’s debut at his home stadium, so the crowd will be behind him, which should help him succeed.

Astros’ Prospect, Alex Bregman, Hit In The Head By A 94 MPH Fastball

Many Houston Astros and fantasy baseball fans have been wondering when Alex Bregman will finally make his MLB debut. Unfortunately, it might be delayed after taking a fastball to the head on Monday night. Luckily Bregman got up on his own power and he seems to be okay, but he sat out last night as a precautionary measure. Hopefully this event doesn’t hurt Bregman physically or his approach at the plate.

Kurt Suzuki drove in 6 runs with his 4 hits (including a homer) to help the Twins win a wild 14-10 slugfest over Philadelphia.

P- Cole Hamels (vs. Cincinnati Reds): $10,400. So far in June, Hamels has posted a 2-0 record with a 1.88 ERA in four starts. He is taking on a Reds’ offense in which he has dominated throughout his entire career. In 14 career starts against the Reds, Hamels is 9-1 with a 1.96 ERA.

P- Lance McCullers (vs. Los Angeles Angels): $8,200. The Astros need to win this series, so you know McCullers is going to be fired up for this one. In his four starts this season, he is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA. In 2015, he faced the Angels four times and went 1-1 with a 2.52 ERA.

Justin Upton hit an 8th inning go ahead homer and a walk off shot in the 11th to give the surging Tigers an 8-7 win over Seattle.

Doug Fister gave the Astros 7 strong innings, allowing 2 runs and only 4 hits. He would get the 10-7 decision over the Angels.

Mark Reynolds homered twice and walked to help the Rockies top Miami, 5-3.

Clayton Kershaw struck out 8 Washington batters and walked none over 7 innings, allowing 1 run and getting his 11th victory for the Dodgers, 4-1.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/21/16

P- Jose Fernandez (vs. Atlanta Braves): $13,700. Fernandez has been lethal on the mound recently. In his last 10 games, he owns a 2.25 ERA, with 91 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Jose will be facing one of the worst offenses in baseball, so this should be a great matchup for daily fantasy.

P- Sonny Gray (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $6,600. Gray pitched incredibly well in his last start until the sixth inning, which he surrendered five funs. In his two starts prior to his last starts (since returning from the DL), he gave up only three runs on 12.2 innings pitched. Over the last seven days, the Brewers’ offense ranks in the bottom third in runs, batting average, OBP, and slugging, so hopefully Gray can take advantage of this struggling offense in his home park.

2016 MLB Amateur Draft Fantasy Baseball Rankings

The 2016 MLB Draft was completed last week, so now it is time to take a look at the impact these rookies will have on fantasy baseball. Keep in mind that these rankings don’t take into account their ETA, but rather their long-term impact. Depending on when you are looking to compete, these rankings could change for you, so pay attention to the estimated time of arrival (ETA) that is stated. If you have any questions about this article or the player, please tweet me @dynasty_digest.

  1. Jason Groome (Boston Red Sox; LHP; ETA- 2020): Jason Groome was drafted 12th overall by the Boston Red Sox. Many people considered Groome a top-3 prospect, but he slid down the board due to multiple reasons. There has been rumor that Groome might not sign unless he receives a signing bonus that a top-5 draft pick would make, but it’s looking like the Red Sox will have enough money left over to give Groome the payday he wants. If he does sign, Groome will become part of an already dominant Boston Red Sox minor league system. Luckily for the Red Sox, Groome has frontline starter potential and could be an elite option in fantasy baseball at his prime. He stands 6’6 and 220 lbs, so he has the physical projectability, but he also has three above average to plus pitches that he can throw for strikes, which is saying a lot for a kid who is only 17 years old.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/20/16

P- Clayton Kershaw (vs. Washington Nationals): $14,200. It is close to impossible not to start Kershaw every time he steps on the mound. He is averaging 30.1 points per game this season on DraftKings. He currently owns a 19-1 strikeout to walk ratio, so he should provide plenty of points every time he steps on the mound. In 155 career at bats against Kershaw, the Nationals’ offense is batting .219, with 48 strikeouts, and a .265 OBP.

P- Drew Smyly (vs. Cleveland Indians): In 77 career at bats against Smyly, the Indians’ offense is batting .195, with 24 strikeouts, and a .249 OBP. He struggled over the past month or so, but he dominated his last time out, in which he struck out 12 batters over seven innings.

Tyler Naquin reached base 5 times, homered and drove in 4 as the Indians clobbered the White Sox 13-2.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/19/16

P- Jacob deGrom (vs. Atlanta Braves): $11,300. deGrom has had some pretty bad luck recently when it comes to run support, but this hasn’t affected how well he has pitched. In his last five starts, he has four quality starts and he dominated the Pirates’ over his last two starts. In six career starts against the Braves, deGrom owns a 3-2 record with a 1.89 ERA.

P- Mike Fiers (vs. Cincinnati Reds): $6,500. Fiers is coming off one of his best starts of the season, in which he gave up two runs and five hits against the Rays in seven innings of work. He is pitching at home, which is very good. He owns a 3.67 ERA at home, compared to a 6.19 ERA on the road. In 67 career at bats against Fiers, the Reds’ lineup is batting .179, with one home run, seven XBH, 10 RBIs, 14 strikeouts, and a .242 OBP.

Freddie Freeman kept his hot streak alive with a 3 for 4 performance, homering and driving in a pair to help the Braves beat the Reds, 7-2.

Bartolo Colon pitched into the 8th, allowing 2 runs over 7 2/3 innings, walking none and striking out 8 Pirates and doubled to earn the 6-4 decision for the Mets.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/17/16

P- Matt Harvey (vs. Atlanta Braves): $10,300. Harvey finally looks like he has turned it around. In his last three starts, he has only allowed two runs in 20 innings while striking out 17. He is facing a very bad Atlanta Brave offense, so he should continue his recent success. There are lots of other elite options for pitching today, but I think Harvey provides to most value at his price.

P- Julio Urias (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $7,600. Milwaukee has struggled against left-handed pitching this year, so this is great for Urias. Urias struggled in his first few starts, but he has gotten better every start. He will be pitching in his home stadium, against a pretty bad lineup, so this should be a favorable matchup for Urias. Urias is currently sporting an 11.1 strikeout rate per nine innings pitched, which should net some good points on DraftKings.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/16/16

P- Tanner Roark (vs. San Diego Padres): $10,300. Roark is by far the best pitching matchup on the slate for Thursday. He is facing a San Diego Padres offense that has struggled all season, and more importantly, recently. Over the last seven games, the Padres are batting .229 (25th overall), with 23 runs (26th overall), and a .286 OBP (28th overall). He will also be pitching at PetCo Park, which is known as a pitchers’ park. In 2016, Roark owns a 5-4 record, with 73 strikeouts, and a 2.93 ERA.

P- Dan Straily (vs. Atlanta Braves): $9,200. Honestly, I think any pitcher is a good start against the Atlanta Braves. Unless I’m stepping on that mound, you should feel comfortable that any MLB pitcher has a good shot at taking care of the Atlanta offense. In Straily’s last 10 starts, he has gone at least six innings in nine of those starts. He has gone at least seven innings in three of his last four starts. So far this season, he is 4-2, with 64 strikeouts, and a 3.15 ERA.
