Orioles fans might be disappointed with their Christmas haul. But guess what? They were last year as well and they got to the ALCS.

The team is already better and the other teams in the AL East are getting worse.

There is reason for the bird on the hat to smile in this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

The Royals outslugged the Orioles?

The Orioles outran the Royals?

The Royals have home field advantage after winning their FOURTH extra inning post season game?

How about instead of trying to predict this post season, we just let it unfold whatever way it does. Nobody has been able to predict it yet!

I recorded today’s podcast while driving past every ballpark the Giants have called home in San Francisco.

It is going with the flow episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Alex Gordon, Wade Davis and Ryan Flaherty all owned October last night.

2014 ALCS Preview: O’s Vs Royals

This year's 2014 ALCS matches up two teams that not many people predicted to get to this point, but as arguably the two hottest teams in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals definitely will be a fun and exciting series to watch.

It’s been a while since the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals have found themselves in the American League Championship Series, but the wait for these two fan bases is finally over.

These two teams will open up a best-of-seven series at Camden Yards on Friday night.

Although it isn’t the usual suspects we see in the series (such as the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox of the world), baseball fans should definitely keep an eye on this series, as two of the hottest teams in baseball will face off to determine who represents the American League in the World Series.

I recorded today’s podcast from the center field bleachers of PetCo Park in San Diego California, home of the Padres.

That’s right, I was in the ONLY Southern California baseball stadium not hosting a playoff game today.

I discussed the underrated misery of San Diego fans, the predictability of the Tigers’ bullpen failure, the insanity of the Royals playoff games and my love for a Quadruple Header in baseball today.

Who Owns October In MLB Playoffs 2014? (#WOO) Tallies Updated For ALDS Games Thu Oct.2, 2014

USA Today Sports

USA Today Sports

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO (Who Owns October.)

And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO’S to a worthy player on the losing team.

For a full explanation, click HERE

From October 2nd ALDS games:

Receiving 1 WOO

Nelson Cruz hit a 2 run homer in the first, drove in another in the 8th and scored year another run in the Orioles wild 12-3 beating of the Tigers.

Andrew Miller struck out 3 in 1 2/3 key innings of relief as Baltimore opened the floodgates late and beat Detroit 12-3.

Mike Moustakas reached base twice, scored twice and hit the tie breaking and eventual game winning homer in the 11th to lead the Royals to a 3-2 win in Anaheim.

Jason Vargas pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 hits (2 solo homers), 2 runs and walked just 1. He didn’t get the win but helped set up Kansas City’s 3-2 extra inning victory against the Angels.

Receiving 1/2 WOO

Miguel Cabrera reached base twice and cut the Orioles lead to 1 with an 8th inning homer. The Detroit bullpen would have a complete meltdown in the 8th and lose 12-3.

Chris Iannetta got on base twice and hit a homer in the Angels 3-2 extra inning loss to Kansas City.

Jered Weaver pitched 7 strong innings, giving up just 3 hits and 2 runs. He would get no decision as the Angels dropped the game in 11 innings to the Royals, 3-2.

Washington and Baltimore both clinch in an amazing night for the Beltway and both franchises are seeking redemption.

Things get tight in the AL Central, a closer should be put in moth balls and stupidity overshadows what was basically a meaningless Rays and Yankees game.

It is a stretch time down to the wire episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Jake Arrieta, Wilmer Flores, Ricky Nolasco, Adam Eaton, Lance Lynn, Freddy Galvis, J.D. Martinez and Rick Porcello  all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball?

If they do deal him, the Orioles and Blue Jays should offer up the farm for him.

With roughly 25% of the season already in the books, the AL East is hovering around .500.

For the Orioles, Blue Jays and Rays, this is a chance to take the Division and run with it. Push the chips all in NOW!

Nelson Cruz Signs with Baltimore

It has been a very busy week for the Orioles as Spring Training gets started, as the team is set to announce the signing of Nelson Cruz to a one-year, $8 MM contract.

Earlier in the week, I wrote about guys the Orioles could target to help bolster their lineup, and Cruz seemed to be the most logical fit. Read the rest of this entry

Orioles Finally Make A Free Agent Splash To Salvage Winter

By Nicholas Delahanty (MLB Reports O’s Writer)

Orioles Sign Ubaldo Jimenez

The Orioles could not catch a break this off-season, as they lost out on free agents that they coveted as well as missing out on closer Grant Balfour , after he failed the team’s physical.

Bronson Arroyo balked at even going for a physical seeing what happened to the Aussie – opting to sign with the D-Backs even though the money was similar, rather than have his worth devalued by flunking the doctor’s visit from the O’s.

Tyler Colvin also fell victim to Baltimore’s stringent doctors, while Grady Sizemore didn’t have a chance to pass a physical with the club either despite Orioles interest.

Orioles fans all over wondered what the team’s intentions were, as many felt the team could be a serious contender with the core they have in place, but some moves needed to be made to bolster the roster.

On Monday night, the Orioles finally made a big splash in free agency that everyone anxiously awaited. The team announced they agreed to a four-year, $48 MM deal with pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.

This is a huge move for the Orioles as an organization, as it now shows their fan base that they are willing to spend big money on key free agents.

The O’s have been linked to many of the big name free agents throughout the offseason, only to come up short when it came to signing them.
