Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – June 27, 2015
Sitting on a bench by the Clearwater River in Lewiston, Idaho, I pondered the current state of the Red Sox and how they need to make sure their recent first round picks were worth it.
The river flows steadily by in Episode 976 of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Gonzalez, Noah Syndergaard, Jake Arrieta, Corey Kluber, Edinson Volquez, Mike Trout and Dee Gordon all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball?

Comedian and friend of the podcast Nick Stevens is the guest today.
We talked about the state of the Red Sox, our mutual confusion of why they signed Pablo Sandoval and reminded ourselves about the term “Deli Flowers.”

It looks like the Red Sox are signing Pablo Sandoval to a big huge long term deal. And your pal Sully, a life long Red Sox fan, is NOT happy.
It is a “You heard it here first” episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
A Regional World Series In 2014? NYY/BOS/ATL Maybe All Out Of The Playoffs For 1st Time Since 1989

The Nationals and Orioles both locked down their respective league’s East Division’s last night. Could it be a possible Beltway World Series?
Or how about a Freeway Series (I-5) between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels Of Orange County near Disneyland and Fullerton (or whatever Arte Moreno’s team us called now).
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, maybe iconic close series of 1985 and 1989 respectively, meaning the I-70 series (KC vs STL) or the Bay Bridge (Earthquake Series), between the A’s and Giants.
Both of those winning clubs have not won the Fall Classic since those years.
Even Detroit and Pittsburgh are only 284 Miles apart, should they have a chance meeting.
Who is not here for the 1st time in 20 years – will probably be the Braves (whose playoff chances are on fumes), and the Yankees/Red Sox all failed to have at least one representative of those 3 in the Post Season since 1989, when the Cubs, Dodgers, A’s and Blue Jays made the playoffs.
2009 was the last time teams within close proximity to each other squared off in the World Series – when the Yanks took out the defending champion Phillies in 6 games.
The Yankees/Mets 2000 “Subway Series” was the last time two teams in the same city played in the Fall Classic, something the 2 Los Angeles squad’s could do.
Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – September 5, 2014
I would hate for last night’s loss to be Koji Uehara‘s last game with the Red Sox… but it might be.
Closer’s flame out and Koji looks like no exception. Remember, he was never meant to be a long term solution.
Today’s episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast. was recorded outside of Sunken Diamond at Stanford University.
Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – July 31, 2014
I woke up this morning by a text from my Red Sox loving friend Kenny Mack that Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes were dealt to the A’s for Yoenis Cespedes.
Good morning.
Kenny and I discussed the move and the legacies of both teams. We sometimes got off topic.
It is a trade deadline episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

It is time for The Sunday Request on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
@sullybaseball Rumors about Lester to Dodgers, do you think Red Sox should move him?
— Jim Furlong (@EWOKinLA) July 24, 2014
Jon Lester will probably not be a member of the 2015 Boston Red Sox. We all know that. So how should the Red Sox prepare for it?
And how will Red Sox fans react to Lester as a member of the Yankees NEXT year?
Nori Aoki, Clayton Kershaw, Martin Prado, Chris Sale, Gio Gonzalez, Justin Verlander, Seth Smith and Carlos Santana all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball?
Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – July 6, 2014
It is Sunday and man do I have a challenging Sunday Request!
@sullybaseball MT jtomase: Sergio Romo is out as Giants closer. If you’re GM Brian Sabean, don’t you at least think about inquiring on Koji?
— Pete Sonski (@29sonski) June 29, 2014
Should the Giants do it?
Should the Red Sox pursue it?
It is a tougher decision than you would think when you consider how quickly closers flame out!
I take on the challenge on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Matt Garza, Casey McGehee, Chris Archer, Nelson Cruz, Homer Bailey, Yasiel Puig, Jose Quintana andDanny Valencia all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball.
Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – June 28, 2014
The Red Sox lost to the Yankees best (Vidal Nuno, read with sarcastic tone) pitcher yesterday. It might be time to declare this World Series defense dead.
That might be what saves the 2015 season.
It is a glass half full AND empty episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Jose Abreu, Freddie Freeman, Johnny Cueto, Chris Tillman, C. J. Cron, Adam LaRoche and Tyson Ross all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball.

With the Red Sox outfield playing at a historically bad level, a change needs to be made.
Should they consider Matt Kemp, who just a few years ago was considered to be one of if not the best player in baseball?
Is he worth taking an expensive risk?
That question and more on today’s episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast..
Lonnie Chisenhall, Scott Van Slyke, Bud Norris, Charlie Morton, Starlin Castro, Miguel Cabrera and David Price all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball
Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – May 31, 2014
There is legit bad blood between the Red Sox and Rays. For Boston fans of a certain age, I bet it is more emotional than seeing the Yankees.
And that is good for baseball.

Memorial Day is upon us. It is the first checkpoint of the season. The unofficial 1/3 mark.
And I take a look at the league, the MVP and Cy Young candidates and wonder what the hell is happening with the Defending World Champs.

Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – May 23, 2014
These are not the best days for the Red Sox. Seven game losing streaks aren’t exactly becoming for a World Series defense.
They should not panic and neither should Red Sox fans. There is help in the farm system and the long term effect of fixing the team from within will be worth it.
Lots of talking fans off of the ledge on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

I got on a plane with the Red Sox down to their last out in Yu Darvish‘s bid for a no hitter.
I spent the flight thinking he had a no hitter. No better time to record a podcast than up in the air.

Why don’t I record my podcasts ahead of time?
Because you will never know when a Yankee pitcher smeared pine tar on his neck!
Also, the Cubs snub Sammy Sosa and I am not cool with that.

It is time for Red Sox and Yankees! The rivalry is in a strange place right now but no doubt will pick up in intensity.

Sully Baseball Daily Podcast – January 29, 2014
David Ortiz wants an extension with the Boston Red Sox?
That’s nice, but he has clearly mistaken the Red Sox with a sentimental team.
That’s the topic for today’s episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
