George Springer missed the cycle by a double, launching a first inning grand slam and leading the way to Houston’s 13-4 throttling of the Royals.

Jake Peavy threw 7 innings and gave up 2 runs and earned the 5-4 decision for the Giants over the Phillies.

Wade LeBlanc threw 6 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk as Seattle beat St. Louis, 4-3.

Exclusive Interview With 2017 Draft Prospect and UNC Tar Heel, J.B. Bukauskas

J.B. has an electrifying fastball and slider combination, which both have potential to be plus-plus pitches. He is also developing a change-up that many scouts believe could solidify him as a top of the rotation starter one day. It’s hard to say which pitch is his best between his fastball and slider. He sits between 93-96 MPH with his fastball, but his slider could be the best breaking ball in the 2017 draft class. His elite combination of pitches, command, and maturity on and off the mound should make him one of the top prospects in the 2017 MLB Draft.

He is one of the top arms in the Cape Cod League this summer. He is also playing with Team USA this summer in Japan, Taiwan, and Cuba.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/24/16

DraftKings is a lot better for bringing home the bigger jackpots on this system, and we love the ability to swap out players all day.

P – Max Scherzer (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $13,900. In 61 career at bats against Scherzer, the Brewers’ offense is batting .115, with 28 strikeouts, and a .169 OBP. In his last start against Milwaukee, Scherzer held together a perfect game through seven innings. Unfortunately he lost the perfect game in the seventh, but he only gave up one hit with 16 strikeouts in the complete game. In his last three starts, he owns a 2-0 record, 0.90 ERA, and 27 strikeouts.

P – Cody Reed (vs. San Diego Padres): $7,200. In his MLB debut, Reed showed lots of promise. He threw seven innings against the Houston Astros, giving up four runs, and striking out nine. His ability to strike batters out should make him a very good play on Friday. San Diego is ranked 27th in strikeouts, which is great for Reed.

Noah Syndergaard and His Fantasy Owners Dodge A Bullet

I checked my phone yesterday, as I got a notification, and my heart skipped a beat. The notification read, “Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard left today’s game after 6 innings because of elbow discomfort, will see team doctor.” First of all, I’m a huge fan of Thor. Second of all, I own him in two of my fantasy leagues. Third of all, I hate to see another young pitcher plagued by the dreaded Tommy John Surgery. Well have no fear folks, all Thor fans have dodged a bullet.

5 MLB Players Who Have Made Their Fast Starts in 2016 a Distant Memory

While getting off to a slow start is every ballplayer’s worst nightmare, getting off to a fast one is a dream come true. However, experiencing a great April doesn’t really matter much when the months to follow are full of struggles.

Just as we recently talked about certain hitters making their slow starts a distant memory, there are plenty of players who had a ton of fun in baseball’s first month of regular season play. Despite the best-case scenario coming true for them, it’s become a distant memory by seeing their overall stats head in the opposite direction — and pretty fast.

Here are five players who wish April never ended:

Amidst Great Year, Blue Jays’ Michael Saunders Still Has One Issue

zz michael saunders

HE’S HAVING A GOOD YEAR, BUT JAYS FROM THE COUCH LOOKS INTO WAYS OF IMPROVING TORONTO BLUE JAYS LF, MICHAEL SAUNDERS’ STRIKEOUT RATE.

Michael Saunders is one hell of a hitter, and it seems like everyone is now noticing. For example this and this, have both recently been published on Fangraphs about the Canadian. As fans, we have seen him hit balls hard, off lefties and righties, we’ve seen him hit from foul pole to foul pole, showing a prime example of “power to all fields” that we have come to love and expect from most of our elite hitters. There is one small rather large issue with his current numbers, and I am not talking about his uncharacteristically high .375 BABIP.

No, for those who started reading this, the fans who have been paying attention and check Fangraphs leader boards every hour or so to gain insight, they know. Michael Saunders has an astronomically high 26.1% strikeout rate, good for top 20 in the league.

Melky Cabrera went 4 for 5 with a homer and 4 RBI in a wild back and forth game where the White Sox topped the Red Sox 8-6 (with yours truly in attendance.)

How The Sharks Rip Your MLB DFS Dollars Away From You (Especially On Coors Field + Kershaw Game Slates): What You Can Do About It

With New York recently bringing back MLB DFS under new guidelines, and with the gaming commission giving a serious look at lower player entries per contest, they hope to give the allusion that the games are all playing fair the average player...But will it work?? Hell no...There is a section of guys that rig the contests based on their bankroll, and it is a guarantee they have aligned themselves with other 'sharks' to just get more creative - in order to tip the deck in their favor. we take a look at how the biggest high stakes rollers in MLB DFS take your money.

With New York recently bringing back MLB DFS under new guidelines, and with the gaming commission giving a serious look at lower player entries per contest, they hope to give the allusion that the games are all playing fair for the average player…But will it work?? Hell no!!…There is a section of guys that rig the contests based on their bankroll, and it is a guarantee they have aligned themselves with other ‘sharks’ to just get more creative – in order to tip the deck in their favor. we take a look at how the biggest high stakes rollers in MLB DFS take your money.

BY Hugh Hawkins:

With New York being involved in with DraftKings and FanDuel, coming soon to a theater near you is new rules on maximum entries.  Those are said to be 150 Max Rosters (per contest), or the equivalent of 3% of the total entries (Whichever one is the lowest common denominator).  As of right now, you can still get in to contests and rule with slightly over 5% of the field.

While this new news should be considered a win for the average fan, THIS WILL NOT STOP THE SHARKS!!  THEY WILL JUST GET MORE CREATIVE!!

Listen.  If I had the kind of bankroll these guys are playing with. chances are I may know a friend or 2 who may have the same dollars to wager.  Heck, my friends and family could all be players (with accounts) even though I am rigging the whole contests myself.

The only way to level the playing field entirely is to make up more “Single Entry” contests.  Guaranteed that DraftKings and FanDuel will never go all that format, because they need the dollars spent for the GPP’s.

As said by many other XM Satellite shows, the Sharps (guys who maxing out the contest limits) don’t even have to know that much about baseball as the average fan.  It is all about playing the percentages, and wheeling against the house.

In the coming weeks we are going to focus a hell of a lot on how you can be start wheeling team stacks yourselves.  If you have friends who also play Fantasy. we can teach you how to implore “The Buddy System” in order to bring back your best possible outcome in prizes.

The best wagerers should use FanDuel for their breeding ground, as they are not as stringent with rules, and their slow processing of dynamic player pricing is costing tonnes of money to be wasted by the average guy just looking to plunk down a few dollars. Read the rest of this entry

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/23/16

P- Jerad Eickhoff (vs. Minnesota Twins): $9,400. All of the top tier pitchers have tough match-ups on Thursday, but Eickhoff has a very favorable matchup. He will be facing the Minnesota Twins, who have scored the fewest runs in the American League this year. So far in 2016, Eickhoff is 4-9, with a 3.49 ERA, 83 hits against, and 73 strikeouts in 85 innings pitched. His record isn’t pretty, but it is more a matter of lack of run support, which shouldn’t be an issue against the Twins.

P- Tim Lincecum (vs. Oakland Athletics): $7,100. Lincecum dominated the A’s in his season debut on Saturday. The A’s offense has really struggled recently, so Lincecum should be able to take care of business again on Thursday. Over the last seven games, the A’s rank 29th in runs, 29th in OBP, and 29th in slugging. This will also be Lincecum’s debut at his home stadium, so the crowd will be behind him, which should help him succeed.

Astros’ Prospect, Alex Bregman, Hit In The Head By A 94 MPH Fastball

Many Houston Astros and fantasy baseball fans have been wondering when Alex Bregman will finally make his MLB debut. Unfortunately, it might be delayed after taking a fastball to the head on Monday night. Luckily Bregman got up on his own power and he seems to be okay, but he sat out last night as a precautionary measure. Hopefully this event doesn’t hurt Bregman physically or his approach at the plate.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 6/21/16

P- Jose Fernandez (vs. Atlanta Braves): $13,700. Fernandez has been lethal on the mound recently. In his last 10 games, he owns a 2.25 ERA, with 91 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Jose will be facing one of the worst offenses in baseball, so this should be a great matchup for daily fantasy.

P- Sonny Gray (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $6,600. Gray pitched incredibly well in his last start until the sixth inning, which he surrendered five funs. In his two starts prior to his last starts (since returning from the DL), he gave up only three runs on 12.2 innings pitched. Over the last seven days, the Brewers’ offense ranks in the bottom third in runs, batting average, OBP, and slugging, so hopefully Gray can take advantage of this struggling offense in his home park.

2016 MLB Amateur Draft Fantasy Baseball Rankings

The 2016 MLB Draft was completed last week, so now it is time to take a look at the impact these rookies will have on fantasy baseball. Keep in mind that these rankings don’t take into account their ETA, but rather their long-term impact. Depending on when you are looking to compete, these rankings could change for you, so pay attention to the estimated time of arrival (ETA) that is stated. If you have any questions about this article or the player, please tweet me @dynasty_digest.

  1. Jason Groome (Boston Red Sox; LHP; ETA- 2020): Jason Groome was drafted 12th overall by the Boston Red Sox. Many people considered Groome a top-3 prospect, but he slid down the board due to multiple reasons. There has been rumor that Groome might not sign unless he receives a signing bonus that a top-5 draft pick would make, but it’s looking like the Red Sox will have enough money left over to give Groome the payday he wants. If he does sign, Groome will become part of an already dominant Boston Red Sox minor league system. Luckily for the Red Sox, Groome has frontline starter potential and could be an elite option in fantasy baseball at his prime. He stands 6’6 and 220 lbs, so he has the physical projectability, but he also has three above average to plus pitches that he can throw for strikes, which is saying a lot for a kid who is only 17 years old.

Please San Diego, Use Ron Burgundy As Part Of The 2016 MLB ALL – Star Game Festivities!!

stay classy san diego

By Hugh Hawkins:

I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the Mid-Summer Classic in 2016 by having Ron Burgundy be front and center at Petco Park.  Hand him a microphone, and let him address the stands by saying “Stay Classy San Diego” .  He couldn’t really say what he said at the lookout point in Anchorman “something about the meaning of San Diego”, but it would be awesome if he said ‘drink it up, it always goes down smooth.’

In a world where we have already seen a ton of cross promotion with celebrities and sporting events, this would be ideal.  Will Ferrell (the man who plays Ron Burgundy) already suited up for 10 different teams in 2015 Spring Training, and toted the position of 10 different spots in the lineup, so this is a total no-brainer.

Burgundy is about as 100% sure thing there is for marketing campaigns.  In the year following the Dodge Durango commercials featuring him, sales escalated 410% for the vehicle.

Let him throw out the 1st pitch, do interviews during the Home Run Derby, or help Chris Berman out with some strong color commentary.  Heck. even bring the whole gang from Anchorman Channel 4 News team, but at least have him there.  So as a fan of the character and actor, and for the betterment of humanity and baseball community, make this happen San Diego!

Ender Inciarte Showed off all his Skills & Boosted his Trade Value in 1 Weekend vs. New York Mets

Outside of their current five-game winning streak, the rebuilding year of 2016 has been awfully hard on the Atlanta Braves. What would make it sting a little less is finding legitimate trade value on the big-league roster – outside of Julio Teheran and Freddie Freeman, of course.

When Atlanta traded away Shelby Miller to the Arizona Diamondbacks for a king’s ransom over the winter, multiple teams immediately asked about Ender Inciarte. Not only was he a good outfielder with some speed and coming off a solid 2015 (.303/.338/.408, six homers, 45 RBI, 73 runs scored), one would assume he had no space in the Braves’ rebuild.

Those teams are probably right – it’s likely just a matter of time before Inciarte is traded away for more young talent. Him missing about a month with a hamstring injury and putting up a cumulative line of .234/.303/.317 through 167 at-bats this year probably doesn’t help his trade value very much, but it shouldn’t matter.

He showed exactly how valuable he is in the matter of just two innings during a weekend series against the New York Mets at Citi Field. He was a force throughout the three-game set, slashing .308/.357/.462 during the sweep, but it was what he did late on Saturday night that really caught my eye.
