Odds To Win The 2016 MLB World Series: Price Is Right For Boston – But Not The Odds!

Strike while the iron is hot. The Red Sox have a ton of offensive talent that is under team control for many years. The way to compliment this is to add Free Agent aces. By adding Price to the staff, it takes the pressure off of the the rotation guys – so that they could compete in the next 3 – 4 years – with more suitable roles for the rest of the staff.  With David Ortiz being in his last year of his career, the move made sense.  Their quantum leap up the favorites board based on the signing is not a surprise.  The Jays not losing their odd of +800 is.

Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer)

So with news of David Price signing with the Sox – this has changed the landscape of the AL East.  The oddsmakers jumped them from +1600 last week – to now at +1000.  That is a huge leap.

The Yankees dropped from +1800 to +2000, but yet the Jays kept up as the overall MLB favorite to win the Fall Classic in 2016.  This is wrong without the Canadian franchise making another significant signing.

J.A. Happ and Jesse Chavez were decent moves,  but with the loss of Price, and Mark Buehrle – are they better off than  the team that ended 2015..Hell no..

One would say that Boston inking the Lefty Price has swung the momentum to their side like happened with Toronto this last year.

I would still be leery of wagering that much cabbage on the Boston squad early.  There is not much value there yet.  You are still talking about a club that finished last in the AL East – making a few moves, and now find themselves tied for the 3rd best off to win the World Series.

Odds To Win The 2016 MLB World Series

The Twins finished 2nd in the AL Central and could be the Houston Astros type of 2015 club in 2016. If you think they can finish 2nd in the AL Central one more time, it may be enough to secure a Wild Card Spot. I think the AL East will beat each other up - and will only produce one playoff team in 2016.

So the offseason has started in the MLB – and the oddsmakers are doing their odds before any sweeping changes have occurred for clubs.

Some of the best bets you can do are based on your own speculation on how you think teams are going to do.

I don’t like many of the teams odds once you past the 25/1 barrier to win the World Series.  The only club I would even stab at – to hedge later – is the Minnesota Twins.

Once again the 2015 Standings don’t seem to mean much for the AL Central.  The Twinkies managed to finish second in the Division with 83 win – despite playing the 1st half without Ervin Santana and power slugging rookie Miguel Sano.

I am not suggesting the Indians don’t deserve to be the 2nd favorite in the AL Central either.  It is just the discrepancy between the Tribe and the Twins is too far.  Even the Tigers are at +2500 (which is about right). Read the rest of this entry

The Rays will host the Jays at 4:05 PM EST

Finally, there will be a World Series rematch for the ESPN SUNDAY NIGHT GAME at Kauffman Stadium between the World Champion Royals and the Mets. Read the rest of this entry

2016 MLB Odds To Win The League Pennants

It is a little early in the winter to predict who will win each League right now, but what we are looking for is value.

In the ‘Junior Circuit’, I hate every odd on the board except for the Minnesota Twins at +1500 and the Rays at +2000.

If you like a team and just have to bet some cabbage down – simply pick any team in the AL to win the World Series, and then if they win the American League Pennant, use the National League team as a hedge bet.

The same theory can be applied to the National League flock of teams.  All of them are better to bet to just win the Fall Classic. Read the rest of this entry

Odds To Win The MLB 2016 World Series

The Cubs are the NL favorite to win the championship, and are tied with the Jays for the overall favorite. You have to think they will do anything to sign a premiere Starting Pitcher this winter. David Price, Johnny Cueto and Jordan Zimmermann should all be on their list to sign. The only real loss from their roster this winter is Dexter Fowler at the CF position. They may even try to re-sign him, or another version of him with Denard Span.

I said last week that vegasodds.com had the wrong odd for the KC Royals to win the 2016 World Series.  Every other gambling entity I have seen since has had the club almost favored doubly to that.

In the recent website check at bet365.com – we see the defending champions tied with the Washington Nationals for the 6th best favorite odd of +1100.

We also said the Los Angeles Dodgers should not be the favorite.  They are not on this site either.  The Doyers are tied for 3rd with the Cards and Mets for the odd with a +1000 clip.

The two top clubs are the Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays.  I can’t say I disagree with these two picks necessarily.  Read the rest of this entry

Attendance was up 162, 221 fans over the 2014 total, or 0.2%. The same five teams topped over 3 Million fans in 2015 as did in 2014. Dodgers, Cards, Giants, Yankees and Angels.

Philadelphia lost almost 600K fans year over year – and were the MLB’s club with the worst fall.

Oakland had that distinction the AL – taking a hit of 235K – amongst their 1st non playoff year in 4 seasons.

The World Series Royals set an all time franchise record for attendance in 2015, and had the biggest climb at the turnstiles at +752K.  The club rounded out the top 10 for the MLB as well.

The Mets had the best jump in attendance at 420K in the NL.  The other teams to eclipse a 400K jump were the Toronto Blue Jays (419K) Houston Astros (401K).  All 3 teams made the postseason. Read the rest of this entry

Ranking The MLB Divisions For 2016

The NL may have the best division in best with the NL Central, however this is a top heavy league. In the other Divisions. the Mets and the Nats in the NL East, and the Giants and Dodgers have been beating up the rest of their respective Divisions. With that being said they own the 1st, 5th and 6th best divisions. Of course a 12 year losing streak in Interleague has killed their win totals of late.

(1) So the NL Central had 3 teams in the playoffs on the National League said and also boasted the best Divisional record at 427 – 383 (.527) – that was due largely to the Cards, Pirates and Cubs all posting 100, 98 and 95 Wins respectively.

(2) In a tough AL East, all teams almost made it to the even stature however just the Yankees and Blue Jays were over .500 – with both making the postseason.  That Division’s .517 Win Percentage ranked them 2nd in the Majors. Read the rest of this entry

Dodgers 8/1

Worst odd on the board.  Losing Greinke will crush rotation.  There is a chemistry problem there too.

Mets 10/1

Should be the National League favorite if replace Cespedes and Murphy. Lots of salary room to spend if Wilpon’s can spend.

Blue Jays 10/1

Need to sign a capable #2 Starter like Samardzija and should be the AL favorite.

Cubs 10/1

Like them to sign Price and win the Division in 2016, however in tough with Bucs/Cards. This is a bad odd.

Nats 10/1

This odd is about right.  Washington and New York are going to get fat on the Phillies and Braves for a few years. Read the rest of this entry

Here is a new one for the books.. Extra costs and maneuvers needed to be pulled off because The Pope Is Coming to Philly Sept.24 – Sept.27.

The city of Philly will not run busses through downtown like I needed them too.

So instead if weaving around on $1 bus fares on Megabus, I will have to flip cities between New York and Washington instead.

Then the Reds @ Nationals caused me a chance to alter some more plans – since they decided to reschedule a make up game in Washington for Monday, September 28th at 3 pm. Read the rest of this entry

They call them the dog days of summer, and they are right to an extent.

As I sit here outside Yankee Stadium – waiting for a 130 am bus back to Philly, I am reminded how long this season has been

Tonight’s win for New York  marked the 146th game I have seen this year in 124 Days.  There is 71 games left in 59 days left.

I am going to Washington for the next three days, but also have a game in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon, before catching am Amtrak train to the District.

After that game, a 130 AM bus ride back to Philly, followed by a 4 mile walk back to home base in the wee AM hours will take its toll.  There are no public busses that run at that time of day to make it back to home base. Read the rest of this entry

Maybe it was because of a tough travel day on Monday, but I never even realized I could have just stayed in Philly for a game once my initial plans were derailed to Washington.

In this whole year trip I have over 300 reservation numbers to keep track of.  On this Tuesday I made a rookie mistake.

All the way back in March I switched out a bus trip to Washington from the Amtrak Station in Philadelphia.  The idea back then was to stay overnight in the District Monday Aug.03, 2015.

This idea changed with the prospect of coming back nightly to home base in Sicklerville, NJ. for the entire 6 game homestand for the Nationals this weekend

It is kind of weird the only time i have posed for a picture in front of a Megabus was for a reservation I had that wasn't even valid anymore.

I sit here humbled that I made it this far in my journey.  4 years ago at this time, I was not in a good place.  I was working, going home and trying to fend off headaches, dizziness and any loud sounds.

The government in my home town province of Canada, was not helping me with my claim versus a 2010 accident where I was hit and ran by a driver of a big truck.  I would later hire a personal injury and take them to task.  These were the dark days of depression one suffers from repeated concussions.  It even went to other parts of my body like arms and shoulders – tingling from stress.

So having said that, one of the things I did during this stretch was still capitalize my best skills with what was given to me. I turned to professional handicapping and earning Air Miles through a google search engine.

I used all the anger I had towards the situation – and it fueled me to earn as much as I could while on the shelf. Read the rest of this entry

The week started off in New York City at 12:01 AM pn Monday morning,  I drove back to Sicklerville, NJ, completing 26 days where I drove almost 17000 Miles.  It was a crazy stretch of travel, but had a nice ending.

Monday afternoon came around the bend, and I was on my way to Baltimore.  The idea was to come back to Sicklerville every 2 nights, while blogging the other night at Starbucks in between.  The tolls on this roundtrip run around $30.

As soon as I made it to Baltimore, I stopped off at the White Marsh area (Exit 67) on the I – 95.  There is a way to avoid the last $4 toll towards the ballpark by taking the 40 West.

I know of this parking place at a casino nearby (for free) and watched the game.  It was an extra inning affair, and I was honestly beatdown from the previous week of traveling. Read the rest of this entry

Needless to say I am going to triumph the company Megabus here in this article.  For those that don’t know the story, they saved my trip from about a 185 games to about 215 – 220 games early in the season.

I bought half of my journey back then for $1 each, and did the same thing halfway through this odyssey.  With me being handicapped as a Canadian – for a plunging Canadian Dollar, this help me off set this.

Back in mid 2014, I saw the trend of the Loonie heading south, so I invested as much savings as I could – stuffing my American $ bank account.  So while I may have a tough time traveling to the United States past this year, I will make it through my trip.

In my original design of this concept, I planned to travel a lot of games on the Eastern Seaboard by car.  As I like to say “Gucci this, you see the price of that s-it!  So far, I have only made a few trips via my own vehicle.  The only drawback was I wanted to see 20 MLB games at Fenway, and now that total is done at 6 parks.

Anyways, Megabus created a whole new scope of savings I could use for Baltimore, Washington and the New York teams. Being stationed in Philly is the middle ground between all – and the perfect conduit.

This is the reason I am at 33 games for Nats Park and 20 for Camden Yards.  Coupled with Stub Hub cheap tickets, and you get the idea on how I have saved money.

I wrote a massive article on the Megabus company, and they actually sought out me as a potential partner – combining efforts to make this trip a media whirlwind.  Having a “PR” guy from the 3rd biggest Transportation in America bodes well for having requests come back.

By the end of the year, I will have 100 interviews done for this trip in all forms of social media.  This has been a great partnership, and I hope to work with them in the future.

megabus allows you to switch all itineraries (whether it is one journey or 20, for a $1 fee to trade in for other fares.) I traded 20 trips - not to be used for $27 credit towards a new fare that was a peak trip. It cost me just $3.00 to pull off the maneuver after a small booking fee was added. These guys also don't require paper tickets (although you can use a computer printout of your reservation0.

I have a projected budget of $22, 500 for this year long journey.  $300 of it went to Greyhound and $300 of it went to Megabus, but here is the difference.  I ended up doing only 16 journeys for Greyhound compared to 120 from Megabus.

Sure there is a built in advantage for those awesome $1 Megabus rides that I purchased yes, but another facet of Megabus that kicks ass would be their exchange policy.  I will divulge that in one moment. Lets just check out Greyhound’s archaic system. Read the rest of this entry

DAY DATE

So you think July was weird, well the last 2 months plus a little of October should shape up to be weirder.  I am sitting at Camden Yards last night – and my buddy Scott tells me he can’t make the game tonight – because he missed his flight on the West Coast.

I told him the odds of having something happen to you for the traveling the whole year go up exponentially when you are on the road.  I lose stuff pretty routinely.  Mostly I can recover these items, but some I like to wonder if “Casper, the un-friendly ghost” got his grubby little mitts on. DAY DATE

So I was put to the test more in the last three weeks than throughout the whole trips.  I logged over 10000 Miles on the road from July.1 – July.14/2015.  It was worth it and I have had a few days of rest now to gather momentum for the second half run.

I have altered my schedule to accommodate a lot more rest in the 2nd half as I will be making lots of more media appearances on TV and radio.

I added some games in New York City, Baltimore and Washington,  and took some games away from Boston and Philadelphia.

As of this date, I have eaten 44 hotdogs, drank 48 beers, took down 100 energy drinks, and 4 gallons of coffee.  I have  logged 45,000 Miles by air, ground and public transport.  I have used 22 of 40 free rental days.  The Buick Verano I just returned put on 12,500 Miles of that alone.  I now have a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze for the 2nd half that I will venture on similar mileage with.. 2015 Trip schedule.

Changing Of The Schedule.

If you click the link above saying 2015 trip schedule, it looks vastly different from it did a few days ago.

First off, I have an opportunity in Tampa Bay to do something special for the long-term benefit of my career if I come back at the end of the year.  I am not allowed to get into specifics right now.  It simply has altered my schedule to include the final 6 games on the docket to include a 3 game set in Atlanta at the end of September, and the last 3 games will be at Tropicana Field.

Other changes I have made include taking off a game on the July 4th night in Atlanta.  I have thought about this day long and hard, and decided I would rather spend the night hanging out in the nation’s capital for the fireworks show with my brother’s family, rather than try to complete a 6 game – 3 day effort.

To help out in another aspect to accommodate this, I am also adding a Cincinnati/St. Louis doubleheader on Wed July 1st, 2015, and have added another game on Thursday July.2 in St. Louis.

I was lucky enough to have been interviewed by the Marlins today during the pregame radio broadcast, and also met longtime Marlins + Montreal Expos broadcaster Dave Van Horn. After a chat about the top 5 parks, I listed Busch Stadium as my #5 favorite.  I was devastated to have completed the only 2 games there earlier this year.

In looking at my Thursday July.02 original doubleheader.  It listed the Mets/Phillies at 1;10/6:35.  Originally I was going to use Amtrak, eventually I switched the method to Philly for a Megabus.com trip.  But all have flaws in them, and are way too dependent on things to go right to count as a 2 games in one day maneuver.

The problem is also driving all night to Chicago for a Cubs/White Sox doubleheader after, keep finances in check, and then turnaround and drive 800 miles back to Washington for an 11 AM game on Saturday July 4th game.

If this were three years ago, no doubt I could do this trip.  Heck, I could still probably pull it off now.  However, the previous schedule has 3 different travel plans that I can cancel for just  a few dollars, and save during the long run with time.

Also I was looking to help my buddy Scott finish up Yankee Stadium (which he will now do on Sunday July.19/2015 with me,  He and I are also going to attend the AAA All Star Game in Omaha Nebraska, before heading to US Cellular and MIller Park for a couple of doubleheaders.

In all, the end result is only a loss of one game listed, to now make it a 216 game trek.

The 30 MLB Park tour by travel or air is one of the most adrenaline filled chases one can endure. It is like the Amazing Race, meets Survivor, against Planes, Trains and Automobiles. But even if you just love to travel to a few games each year, or maybe can't get away from your town, but want to know when and where everyone is playing. The MLB Reports has you covered for all 2430 games in 2014, the ALL - Star Events, and Post Season to come after that.
