Receiving 1 WOO’s
Alex Gordon got 3 hits including a broken bat 3 run double in the third and the go ahead home run in the 10th. He also made some fine defensive plays in the Royals 8-6 extra inning win in Baltimore.
Wade Davis kept the Orioles from scoring in the critical 8th and 9th innings. He faced the minimum 6 batters, striking out 4, allowing nobody to reach and struck out Cruz to end the 9th. He earned the decision in Kansas City’s 8-6 ten inning win.
Receiving 1/2 WOO’s
Ryan Flaherty got 3 hits, scored and drove in a pair with a 2 run, 2 out single in the 5th. The Orioles would come up just short as Kansas City won in 10, 8-6.

Full Disclosure Of Bets For 2014 MLB Wagers
In colloborative effort between our Chief Writer “Hunter Stokes” and I, we have guaranteed to turn a profit of no less than $650, with the more likelihood of more than that coming our way. Not bad for a 1st year – (even though we haven’t predicted the playoffs well on the prognostications side for postseason play). We always bet with the value, and not necessarily who we think is really going to win. Besides, you can always hedge bet with a favorite team you like, once they are trailing, and you still picked them to win the Series, Rounds, Playoffs or LCS or World Series.
Okay, so at the MLB Reports, we have been tackling a different vantage point for the 2014 year. I saw a rising number of people who want to know about gambling.
There are several factors to acknowledge here.
It is illegal for most Americans to gamble (unless you are in a state that allows it like Las Vegas).
However, Canadians are allowed to wager freely under the ‘capital gains clause;.
Still, everyone has a friend in the Desert city of Las Vegas right? So we have been running with a theme.
I have had my main chief writer “Hunter Stokes” take a look at the odds all year. and surmise a game plan to throw some cabbage down on it.
If he couldn’t make it to Nevada (he flies there a lot, and goes about 1 per week) from Bakersfield, CA. It is only 286 Miles, and he likes to make the trek a lot.

I am not going to preview this from an analyst angle because our “Lead Podcast Personality” Paul Francis Sullivan ‘AKA Sully’ does a brilliant 20 minute podcast that he does daily, and he has described this matchup beautifully.
I will post the podcast at the end of the article.
Instead, I am looking at this series as a professional handicapper sense.

I have to give the nod to the Giants for value on this one. If you go down the rosters, the St. Louis franchise is a smidge better on the talent level, however how can you bet against San Francisco when they have won 8 straight playoff series from 2010 – 2014.

Perhaps if the 2012 NLCS featured an iconic moment, walk off homer or thrilling Game 7, this would be considered a welcomed rematch between two terrific recent champions.

Brian Wilson has let the Dodgers know he is picking up his 2015 Player Option for $9.0 MIL.
The character Reliever, did not have a great season with Los Angeles, however he straightened it out in the 2nd half, and added a 1/3rd of an inning in the Postseason, to run his lifetime total to 18 scoreless innings to start his playoff career.
The man has a proven playoff pedigree and it baffled me on the reluctance to use the bearded fellow. Maybe we will find out his was really hurt, from what seemed to plague him from the 1st half.
Clayton Kershaw aside, no one had a worse trip to Australia and back then Wilson. as he came back with injuries to his back and neck, stemming from the quick turnaround flight after playing 2 games in Sydney.
The 32 Year Old Wilson posted a 5.66 ERA – and a 1.847 WHIP prior to the ALL – Star Break in 30.1 IP.
Post ALL – Star he was more familiar to what he has authored in career, having a 3.00 ERA and a 1.147 WHIP in his last 18.1 IP.
Wilson came to the Dodgers in August of 2013, after he recovered from a 2nd Tommy John Surgery that had sidelined him since April of 2012. Read the rest of this entry
2014 ALCS Preview: O’s Vs Royals
This year’s 2014 ALCS matches up two teams that not many people predicted to get to this point, but as arguably the two hottest teams in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals definitely will be a fun and exciting series to watch.

It’s been a while since the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals have found themselves in the American League Championship Series, but the wait for these two fan bases is finally over.
These two teams will open up a best-of-seven series at Camden Yards on Friday night.
Although it isn’t the usual suspects we see in the series (such as the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox of the world), baseball fans should definitely keep an eye on this series, as two of the hottest teams in baseball will face off to determine who represents the American League in the World Series.

The corpse of the Nats 2014 season isn’t even cold and it’s time to look ahead to the off-season. I sat and listened to the final game of the Nats season in pitch darkness as the thunder echoed and the storm raged outside my windows. Charlie and Dave’s voices guided me to the bitter bloody end as the Washington Nationals slit their own wrist on the field in San Francisco. Gio Gonzalez botched a comebacker and then faked out Rendon as he first went for and then peeled away from a bunted ball. Matt Williams went to his 8th best reliever in a critical spot after the Nats had tied the game and it all blew up.
The Nats shouldn’t be judged by the playoff series. The 162 games they played before that were far more important than those four. It is hard to deny that Adam LaRoche and Jayson Werth’s bats…

Odds To Win The 2014 ALCS + NLCS In The MLB
Camden Yards will see home games in the ALCS for the 1st time since the 1997 season. Buck Showalter has a decisive edge in the managerial department over the Royals skipper Ned Yost. The O’s are the new owners of home field advantage all the way throughout the postseason now, as the top seed left in the American League.

The Dog Days Of October
The 4 teams in the League Championship Series were all underdogs in the last round.
When you also factor the Wild Card Games were both won by the Giants and Royals, (both not being the favorite), it marks the 1st 6 rounds of this postseason go to the “Dogs”.
Baltimore defeating the Tigers was probably the least surprising as the other clubs winning against their opponents. Again via a sweep of the 3 straight Cy Young Winners is impressive though.
The Nationals and Cards losing to the Giants and Cardinals had a lot to do with playoff pedigree with the teams moving on, as they handled the pressure better than the two upstart clubs. Read the rest of this entry
Odds To Win The 2014 MLB World Series For The Final Four In The MLB Playoffs
The Orioles are the favorite to win the World Series among the last 4 remaining teams. The O’s will have Chris Davis back in Game #4 of the ALCS, and have to be happy they are playing the Royals. It has lined up nicely for Baltimore to take out the ‘Cinderella’ KC Squad.

After licking my wounds for the last rounds 0 – 4 predictions of series, I am laughing all the way to the bank.
While I still picked the Nationals, Tigers, Angels and Dodgers because I thought they would win their last round best of 5’s, I never took the bait to bet any of these clubs.
I was sitting on bets I made earlier in the year. Back in January, I wrote an article proclaiming the Giants at 25/1 (Can win $400) a great steal. I bet the Royals at 50/1 and 80/1 (I can win $1500 if they take the WS) and I bet the O’s at 50/1 and 20/1 (with a potential win total of $720).
So even though I took a header on my picks, I have put myself in a great position of profit for the remainder of the playoffs..
To hedge the series, I have wagered the Baltimore Orioles and Cards to win the LCS’s for $134 wager, that pays +213 or $414. It ensures me to make a profit regardless of the outcome. Read the rest of this entry

Receiving 1 WOO’s
Matt Adams hit a dramatic 3 run homer off of baseball’s best pitcher to turn a 2-0 hole into a 3-2 lead and propel the Cardinals to a series clinching 3-2 victory over the Dodgers.
Pat Neshek gave the Cardinals a critical shutdown inning after they took the lead and helped the Cardinals clinch the Division Series in 4 games over Los Angeles with a 3-2 win.
Hunter Pence reached base twice and made the defensive play of the night leaping in right field for a highlight reel catch against the wall as San Francisco defeated Washington, 3-2.
Ryan Vogelsong kept the Giants in the game with 5 2/3 innings, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks and 1 run. He would not get the decision but helped eliminate the Nationals by a 3-2 final.
Receiving 1/2 WOO’s
Carl Crawford collected a pair of hits and scored a run for the Dodgers in their 3-2 loss to St. Louis.
Bryce Harper doubled home a run, hit a towering game tying homer and got on base with 2 outs in the 9th. He would be stranded on base as the Giants eliminated the Nationals in a 3-2 final.
Clayton Kershaw was throwing a masterpiece through 6, allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 9. The Cardinals struck in the 7th and a 3 run homer put him on the losing end of a 3-2 elimination of the Dodgers.

The Royals Or O’s Winning The Title Would Be Good And Bad: MLB Payrolls Part 2
Kauffman Stadium was newly renovated about 5 years ago. It is a nice visual display of a ballpark, however it is far being in the top venues in the Majors for earning money. The Royals fans saw the club struggle to finally end a 3 decade long playoff drought this year. It is imperative that the MLB work with ‘cost control’ in the upcoming ‘Collective Bargaining Agreement. Both KC and Baltimore had to endure lengthy stints of losing campaigns, before compiling enough top-level draft picks to compete in their respective divisions. Hopefully other small to mid market teams will not have to be bad for that amount of time in the future to obtain success finally.
Yesterday I addressed the Dodgers potentially winning the World Series in the next few years while bringing more attention to the inequities of the big and small market clubs.
Even with LAD losing today and being eliminated, it doesn’t change the fact they will be playoff contenders for years to come based on their talent level, and super imposed revenue stream to outspend every team in the National League.
I identified the last several lower revenue teams that have had success, and pointed out that it took them big stretches of poor campaigns in order to collect on some good.
This is the biggest reason why baseball needs to adopt a salary cap – in order to leveling off the field.
Kansas City and Baltimore are perfect examples of this. The narrative is great here Franchises that haven’t appeared in the Fall Classic since 1985 and 1983 respectively, when both organization won their last Titles.
The Royals 29 years since that has been tough to stomach. The later George Brett years, the core from the championship had aged or moved on by the time he hung up the cleats.
After the 1994 strike/1995 lockout, the Royals found themselves at the bottom of the division for years. Read the rest of this entry

Doug Fister saved the Nationals season with 7 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits and got the 4-1 decision over the Giants.
Bryce Harper reached base twice including a towering homer and was solid defensively, helping Washington beat the Giants, 4-1.
John Lackey pitched 7 strong innings, striking out 8, walking just 1 Dodger batter and allowing only 1 run while earning the 3-1 win for the Cardinals.
Kolten Wong broke a 1-1 tie with a towering 2 run homer that was the difference in St. Louis’ 3-1 win over Los Angeles.
Receiving 1/2 WOO’s
Madison Bumgarner pitched, for the most part, like his dominating self, taking a shutout into the 7th. But his costly throwing error helped the Nationals rally for 3 and he ultimately got the 4-1 loss in San Francisco.
Hanley Ramirez went 3-4 with an RBI double that produced all of the Dodgers runs in their 3-1 loss to the Cardinals.
Hyun-jin Ryu gave Los Angeles 6 solid innings, allowing just 1 run and keeping the Cardinals from a big rally. The bullpen would lose the game, however, 3-1.
Pablo Sandoval got a pair of hits, scored the Giants only run and made a nice defensive play in the Nationals 4-1 win in San Francisco.
The Dodgers Winning The Title Could Cure Baseball In The Future – Part 1
Magic Johnson said the new ownership group would put their money down on the players to stay or come to the franchise, and man he wasn’t kidding. The Los Angeles Dodgers now own 5 of the top 23 player contracts of ALL – Time in the MLB. With a total team payroll likely to be north of $240 MIL for the next few years, he was right. The team is presently the highest salaried team, and they will pay about $16 MIL in Luxury Tax, based on 30% penalty for $51 over the $189 MIL mark in 2014. Their cash infusion to the NL has spawned a rapid ascent for other teams in the Senior Circuit – who are looking just to keep up, while some franchises have no chance at all with their revenue streams.
A couple of years ago I wrote an article on how the Dodgers were going to change the way the MLB operates. I may be proven right this fall.

Lorenzo Cain, singled, scored, drove in a run and made a pair of spectacular diving rally killing catches in centerfield, helping the Royals cruise to an 8-3 win and swept the Angels out of the playoffs.
Nelson Cruz broke a scoreless tie with a 2 run homer that was all the Orioles needed to beat the Tigers, 2-1, and sweep their way into the ALCS.
Bud Norris pitched shutout ball into the 7th, finishing with 6 1/3 innings, 2 hits and allowing no runs. He earned the 2-1 victory for the Orioles as they swept Detroit.
James Shields worked out of trouble all night, but finished with 2 runs over 6 innings and struck out 6. He earned the Royals 8-3 Division Series clincher over the Angels.
Receiving 1/2 WOO’s
Erick Aybar went 4-4 with a double but could not score as the Angels were eliminated by the Royals with an 8-3 loss.
J.D. Martinez doubled home the Tigers lone run in the 9th inning and kept Detroit’s hopes alive. But he would not score the tying run and Baltimore would complete the sweep with a 2-1 win.
David Price pitched 8 solid innings, allowing just 5 hits. One of those hits was a 2 run homer that was the difference in the Tigers 2-1 loss to Baltimore.

Zack Greinke gave the Dodgers 7 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 7 strikeouts. He would not get the decision as the bullpen blew the save, but he set up LA’s 3-2 win over St. Louis.
Matt Kemp got 2 hits including the tie breaking and eventual game winning 8th inning homer as the Dodgers beat the Cardinals 3-2.
Buster Posey got on base 4 times including a critical game extending single in the Giants ninth inning rally that became a 2-1 final 18 inning marathon in Washington.
Yusmeiro Petit pitched 6 innings of 1 hit, 7 strikeout shutout relief. Every single one of the 80 pitches he threw could have resulted in a walk off hit for the Nationals. Instead he helped secure a staggering 2-1 Giants win in 18 innings.
Receiving 1/2 WOO’s
Matt Carpenter reached base 3 times and clubbed a dramatic game tying 2 run homer in the 8th inning. The Cardinals would eventually lose to the Dodgers, 3-2.
Lance Lynn struck out 8 in 6 innings, allowing only 2 runs and kept the Cardinals in the game. LA would eventually win, however, 3-2.
Anthony Rendon got on base 5 times and drove in Washington’s only run in the 18 inning 2-1 loss to the Giants.
Jordan Zimmermann came within one out of a complete game shutout (his second in as many starts and first since his no hitter) before he was pulled with 2 outs and a man on in the 9th. He allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk over 8 2/3 innings. The Nationals bullpen would surrender a run in the 9th and a second one in the 18th and the Giants won 2-1, giving Zimmermann a painful no decision.

The Dodgers and Nationals blew critical games, the Tigers bullpen is a joke and the Angels are showing why the best record in the regular season doesn’t mean crap.

Receiving 1 WOO
Matt Carpenter homered and then hit a bases clearing go ahead 3 run double in the 7th as the Cardinals pulled ahead to stun the Dodgers, 10-9.
Kevin Gausman gave the Orioles 3 2/3 innings of 1 run relief that kept the Tigers from pulling away. Eventually Baltimore would come back to win, 7-6.
Marco Gonzales was the winning pitcher of the most anticipated pitching match up of the year. His one inning of scoreless relief was one of the lone pitching highlights of the Cardinals 10-9 slug fest win against the Dodgers.
Eric Hosmer got on base 4 times, scored a pair and launched the go ahead and eventual game winning 2 run homer in the top of the 11th, leading the Royals to yet another thrilling Royals postseason win. This one was 4-1 over the Angels.
Joe Panik got an RBI single and later tripled and scored and played solid defense, leading San Francisco to a 3-2 victory against the Nationals.
Jake Peavy threw shutout ball into the 6th, finishing with 5 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits and earned the 3-2 win for the Giants in Washington.
Yordano Ventura gave the Royals 7 strong innings, allowing 1 run and 5 hits. He would not get the decision but he set the stage for the 4-1 extra innings victory over the Angels.
Delmon Young hit a pinch hit 3 run double that sparked a wild 8th inning Orioles come back that sunk Detroit, 7-6.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Miguel Cabrera doubled and went 3-4 with a run scored. It wasn’t enough as the Tigers blew a late lead and fell 7-6 in Baltimore.
Kole Calhoun got a pair of hits and scored the Angels only run in their 4-1 extra inning loss to Kansas City.
A. J. Ellis went 4-5 with a homer, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI in the Dodgers shocking 10-9 loss to the Cardinals.
Bryce Harper went 2-4 including a towering homer that put the Nationals on the board. They would lose to the Giants, 3-2.
Matt Shoemaker did not allow an earned run over his 6 innings of work, walking none while striking out 6. He would not get a decision as the Angels would lose 4-1 in 11 innings.

Odds To Win The 2014 MLB World Series Oct.3, 2014
The Orioles last won the World Series in 1983, and were closest next in the 1997 ALCS, before being ousted by the Indians. With having a 1 – 0 series lead on the Tigers, they have tied the Washington Nationals as the co-favorites for the World Series odds. Stay clear of betting them or Washington. The value is bad.

With Baltimore taking a 1 – 0 advantage on the Tigers yesterday, the oddsmakers now have them tied with the Nationals for the best odds to win the World Series.
I don’t agree with this at all. If you still like the Detroit club, the time to bet is right now. Justin Verlander has a proven playoff track record, and the squad has David Price and Max Scherzer in Games 3 and 4, with Max Scherzer back for a potential game #5.
You always see these swings on a 1 game basis in the postseason.
The Dodgers will only be at this clip for 1 day too. If you want to put some cabbage on them, do it before Clayton Kershaw takes the hill and wins tonight.
The Angels are trailing their series vs the Royals, and are +145 underdogs as opposed to KC holding a LDS odd of -175 over LAA. Despite this, the Royals are not favored higher than the “Halo’s” on the odd for the World Series. Keep in mind the Royals are a better road team, while the Angels won 46 games on the road and 52 at home. Take the odd of +145 for this series versus Kansas City. They throw Matt Shoemaker tonight, and will still be able to throw Jered Weaver one more time. Tonight’s game has the Angels are a -152 favorite – whereas the Royals pay +135 if they win tonight.
Kansas City is favored to win the series versus the Angels at -175, to LAA’s +145, but are still a bigger longshot to win the World Series.
My advice: plunk some money down on the LAA for the ALDS series at that mark. It was a close game last night, and the Royals will not make it easy on themselves in the series.
I would still wait on the St. Louis team if you wish to bet them at all, as well as the Giants. Both teams have a tough nature to knock off, as their World Series in 3 of the last 4 years indicates.
You think the odds are high now, wait if they lose tonight’s games. It will jump to near +1400 or +1600. Wait a day for those guys.

Ian Desmond: A Player to Watch in October
When asked which Nationals are key to winning in October the trendy picks are going to be Jayson Werth and his .264/.374/.586 postseason batting line or Bryce Harper along with the fact that he has the most raw talent of any National, hit .288/.359/.454 in the second half of the season, and is fully capable of a month like he had in April 2013 when he hit .344/.430/.720. Both of them are full capable of carrying the Nats for a month, but there is another Nat that is known for crazy hot streaks and can carry the team and that is Ian Desmond.
Ian Desmond finished the season with his best month hitting .277/.351/.458 and while that isn’t a particularly hot month for Ian Desmond he never had a truly cold month this season with April being his worst month with a .644 OPS. Ian Desmond never truly had one…

Nelson Cruz hit a 2 run homer in the first, drove in another in the 8th and scored year another run in the Orioles wild 12-3 beating of the Tigers.
Andrew Miller struck out 3 in 1 2/3 key innings of relief as Baltimore opened the floodgates late and beat Detroit 12-3.
Mike Moustakas reached base twice, scored twice and hit the tie breaking and eventual game winning homer in the 11th to lead the Royals to a 3-2 win in Anaheim.
Jason Vargas pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 hits (2 solo homers), 2 runs and walked just 1. He didn’t get the win but helped set up Kansas City’s 3-2 extra inning victory against the Angels.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Miguel Cabrera reached base twice and cut the Orioles lead to 1 with an 8th inning homer. The Detroit bullpen would have a complete meltdown in the 8th and lose 12-3.
Chris Iannetta got on base twice and hit a homer in the Angels 3-2 extra inning loss to Kansas City.
Jered Weaver pitched 7 strong innings, giving up just 3 hits and 2 runs. He would get no decision as the Angels dropped the game in 11 innings to the Royals, 3-2.

Madison Bumgarner threw a 4 hit, 10 strikeout complete game shutout against the Pirates, shutting down one of the best National League lineups while leading the Giants to a 8-0 clinching of the NL Wild Card Game.
Brandon Crawford may not have had the highest hit total, but his 4th inning grand slam took the Pittsburgh crowd out of the game, gave Bumgarner a big cushion and made the rest of the game a formality as the Giants coasted to an 8-0 win.
Receiving 1/2 WOO
Josh Harrison was the only Pirates hitter who wasn’t shut down, collecting 2 of the Pirates 4 hits. He would never score as San Francisco eliminated the Bucs, 8-0.

How To Do Wrigley Field And Miller Park Doubleheader Attempts
Wrigley Field might just be the best place just to watch a baseball game (Fenway Park rivals it for entire ballpark experience). AT &T Park and PNC Psrk usually round out the top 4 Parks. Once you have watched a game in this park once, I suggest going to a doubleheader with Miller Park. In any given year there are 12 – 20 Doubleheaders between the 2, with Wrigley usually taking the matinée 1st. Today I will give you an example of ways to travel between the stadiums.

Welcome to my 1st installment, of what could take about a year’s worth of writing to complete, if I were to post a blog everyday. I am talking about Modern Day MLB Baseball Doubleheaders.
I have done around 30 DH’s in my time so far, and have scouted every plausible scenario for all 30 Parks, to line up with dance partners, so you can see two games in one day.
For the last 2 years, have prominently displayed the Master List for Doubleheaders in the game of MLB, for each calendar year.
As some of you know, and now other will figure out, I am attending at least one baseball game every day of the 2015 MLB Season.
Listed in my itinerary, I plan to attend 50 – 60 Doubleheaders throughout the course of the year.
Of course the land attempts are far easier than flight, but I like the challenge of those to.
In the next 365 days, I will be giving you a preview of how to do all the doubleheaders possible, should time allow it on MLB’s schedule. Read the rest of this entry
