MLB Power Rankings 2016: Week 4 – April
Posted by hunterstokes21

One is the #1 club in the whole MLB right now, and the other was the biggest mover and shaker of the week for week 3 of MLB action. Both are leading the Central Divisions in their respective leagues behind awesome starting pitching and timely power.

Disclaimer: We based these rankings on best strength to win the World Series. Therefore some teams that have an easier division to play in, with the least path of resistance to the postseason overall may be ranked a lot higher than a club who is equally talented, yet may play in a juggernaut of a division.
Game Records were before the results of the ESPN Sunday Night Game was played.
After a crazy week in which we saw our 1st no hitter, and massive long 16 inning game in Washington, we have for you the MLB Power Rankings.
There was no movement from the top 3 clubs. The NL West saw the Dodgers take a decent lead on the Giants – and that is major critical, as that is the team most likely to give them trouble in their quest for a 4th straight Division crown.
Bryce Harper has pulverized the Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Twins thus far. His late inning heroics are taking him to the next level.
The biggest mover and shaker this week was the White Sox, who climbed up 7 slots. The Giants dropping 8 positions was the biggest decline.
Bad weeks were had by the Tigers, Red Sox, Yankees and Astros. All clubs in the AL who are supposed to contend for a playoff slot.
The Mariners won their 3rd straight road series against the Angels (after beating the Yankees and Tribe 1s), and sit just a half game back in the AL West.
Oakland had started 7 – 0 on the road, before yielding 15 runs over the last 2 losses to the Blue Jays. They are tied with the Rangers for the lead in the Division, but it is just a matter of time before they are bounced out in my opinion.
Cleveland had a nice week of 4 – 2 to jump up 5 spots in the rankings. and are that much closer to bringing back Michael Brantley.
Gaining only one spot but having an awesome week were the New York Mets. All the boys are hitting now, and they are 8 – 2 in their last 10 contests. Read the rest of this entry →

At the MLB Reports, we intend to show you the Roster Tree for the Los Angeles Dodgers – and how they assembled their current roster for hitting and Pitching. It will work in a six degrees of separation like format.
Once we figure out the origin of how many trades going back in time it takes to see where the tree started, it will be time to dissect how the team fared on the deals.
If a player has never left the organization at all, the tree will be easy – as it will just be the year they were drafted or signed.

MLB Reports Hall Of Fame Predictions: Class Of 2014 Players
Posted by planguzzi

The deadline of December 31st has come and gone for The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA). Members were asked to submit no more than 10 names of players they “deem” worthy of induction towards this year’s National Baseball Hall of Fame ceremony set for July.
By Patrick Languzzi (Cooperstown Correspondent) Follow @patricklanguzzi
Follow The MLB Reports On Twitter Follow @mlbreports
Results are scheduled to be announced on January 8th.
Players must receive at least 75 percent of the votes in order to be inducted by a voting body of roughly over 500 eligible writers.
There are many player names worthy of discussion, however, few will see enshrinement, now or ever.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Roster Tree: How All Of The Hitters Were Acquired
Posted by chuckbooth3023

Andre Ethier finished 6th in NL MVP Voting during the 2009 season. It has been his best year to date. He hit 31 HRs, added 106 RBI, 76 XBH Overall and scored 92 Runs. He won a Silver Slugger Award for his efforts. Ethier was acquired through a chain of transactions that goes all the way back to when the team drafted Mike Piazza (who was traded for Gary Sheffield), who was traded for Andrew Brown from Atlanta, (who was later flipped for Milton Bradley from Cleveland, before lA turned around and traded Bradley to the A’s for Andre Ethier.)

@sullybaseball You’re team/pitcher, throwing a No-hitter. I just witness my first one, with Bailey’s no-hitter.
— Richie Devotie (@mrbaseballman) July 14, 2013
So what are my thoughts of seeing MY (the Red Sox) throw no hitters?
And I share a recording of my dad and I listening to the end of the Lincecum no hitter.
AJ Griffin, Didi Gregorius, Lonnie Chisenhall and I suppose Tim Lincecum all owned baseball on July 13, 2013.

The Most Recent No Hitter For Each Franchise
Posted by Paul Francis Sullivan
Last season had a flurry of no hitters, ending with Homer Bailey‘s gem that eliminated the Pirates from contention.
This season has been filled with one near miss after another, including close calls from Yu Darvish and Anibal Sanchez. When would the first no hitter of 2013 be thrown?
I guess only Homer Bailey is allowed to throw no-nos now. He threw a gem with only one walk against the punchless Giants and joined the likes of Roy Halladay and Mark Buehrle as a pitcher with multiple no hitters.
Let’s take a look at each franchise’s most recent no hitter:
FOR EACH FRANCHISE

Matt Garza – July 26th, 2010
5-0 over Detroit.

Edwin Jackson – June 25, 2010
1-0 over Tampa Bay

Dallas Braden – May 9, 2010
4-0 over Tampa Bay. (Perfect Game.)

Ubaldo Jimenez – April 17, 2010
4-0 over Atlanta.

Carlos Zambrano – September 14, 2008.
5-0 over Houston.

Jon Lester – May 19, 2008.
7-0 over Kansas City.

Anibal Sanchez – September 6, 2006.
2-0 over Arizona.

Roy Oswalt, Peter Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner –
June 11, 2003.
8-0 over New York Yankees.

Bud Smith – September 3, 2001
4-0 over San Diego.

David Cone – July 18, 1999.
6-0 over Montreal. (Perfect Game.)

Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon – July 12, 1997.
3-0 over Houston. (10 innings.)

Hideo Nomo – September 17, 1996.
9-0 over Colorado.

Kenny Rogers – July 28, 1994.
4-0 over California. (Perfect Game.)

Kent Mercker – April 8, 1994.
6-0 over Los Angeles.

Bret Saberhagen – August 26, 1991
7-0 over Chicago White Sox.

Dennis Martinez – July 28, 1991.
2-0 over Los Angeles. (Perfect Game.)

Bob Milacki, Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson and Gregg Olson – July 13, 1991.
2-0 over Oakland.

Dave Stieb – September 2, 1990.
3-0 over Cleveland.

Juan Nieves – April 15, 1987.
7-0 over Baltimore.
CLEVELAND INDIANS
Len Barker – May 15, 1981.
3-0 over Toronto. (Perfect Game.)
Bonus
WASHINGTON SENATORS
Bobby Burke – August 8, 1931
5-0 over Boston.
The Padres are still on the clock. And it would be nice to simplify the list with the Nationals having a no hitter instead of including the Expos and Senators.
When will the next no hitter be?
Well, when’s Homer Bailey’s next start?

Today’s episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast was recorded at Dodger Stadium. I discussed why people should give L.A. fans a break for being late.
I also examined the history of the Dodgers and how they were the team that reached out to an African American crowd. They also did the hero for Jewish, Mexican, Japanese, Korean and Born Again Christian fans.
Will they be the team that has the hero for gay fans and Muslim fans?
Also I determined that CC Sabathia, Will Middlebrooks, Adam Wainwright and Adrian Gonzalez owned baseball on April 7, 2013.
