Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/24/16

P – Jared Eickhoff (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $8,500. Eickhoff has been a stud all year long. He is averaging 22.9 points on Draft Kings this season. In his first 3 starts, he has thrown 19 innings, 1.89 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and only 5 walks. He will be facing the Brewer’s offense, which is nothing special.

Through the first few weeks of the season, the Brewers are ranked as the 29th best offense… that’s bad. They also strikeout the third most (156 total strikeouts) in the Major Leagues, which is great for a strikeout-pitcher such as Eickhoff.

P – Aaron Blair (vs. New York Mets): $6,800. I’m going out on a limb here, but I love Blair in this match-up. He is making his Major League debut and he is playing in his home stadium. The crowd will be behind him and he will be pumped up.

The Mets offense has struggled all year long, so this could be a good first taste of the big leagues for Blair. In Blair’s minor league career, he is averaging 8.3 strikeouts per 9 innings, with a 3.13 ERA. This start could backfire considering no one knows how Blair will fair in the bigs, but at only $6,800, it won’t hurt too badly.

Texas Is Blanked By The White Sox FRI: Then There Were 10 Teams Left In 2016 MLB Shutout Survivor:

Texas is always a favorite for this competition, but they were knocked out on Friday night by the Chicago White Sox and Jose Quintana. On a good note, being blanked has them tied for the AL lead in quickest to 11 variations in MLB Runs Scoring Survivor with the Seattle Mariners,

Texas was the 20th squad to see all of their run totals of a game all see zeroes on Friday night.  The White Sox and Jose Quintana provided the opposition – and knocked out one of the best clubs to be left in this category.

So there are now 10 clubs left in this quest to be last team bageled in 2016.

The 4 American League teams remaining are overall favorite Toronto, and the potent offensive of Baltimore are also alive  Surprisingly,  the A’s have to be blanked, and not surprising, the Astros are still on the board.

I fully expect the O’s, Jays and Astros to lead the league in HRs 1, 2 and 3, so this is about right.  Oakland on the other hand is the odd man still there.  Kudos to them for a great start to the campaign.

In the NL, the Rockies are always hard to keep from scoring – and are blessed with a nice run scoring home stadium.  Pittsburgh, Arizona and Los Angeles are worthy choices of being left in the running.

MLB DFS Picks For FanDuel – 4/23/16

Bryce Harper has finally come of age as a budding superstar in the league with 42 HRs in the 2015 season - which tied him for the NL Lead. He may be capable of launching up a 50 HR season in his career - however I will believe that he will be pitched around a lot more in 2016 than he was last year.

He may be capable of launching up a 50 HR season in his career really soon, and has 8 HRs and 22 RBI though the Nats first 16 Games Played so far.  He is averaging 14.6 PPG on FanDuel, and will be a part of any roster I fill out as the main player, unless an awesome Lefty is opposed to him like Kershaw or Bumgarner.  Using a guy like Michael Taylor to offset the $ is always a good move, or another lateral player that hits 1 – 4 in any lineup and is in the $2500 – $2900 range.

I will open up by saying that most good fantasy players will play several lineup entries into the contests.  To save face, all of us also will put at least one roster up that takes Coors Field into consideration.

This website knows all to well what the home ballpark in Colorado does for the hitter.  How about hitting .315 as a BA for positional hitters for the Rockies 0 even in the ‘humidor era’?

All the exposing the balls to that room has done is take away the sick amount of homers that were hit.  The spacious outfield is still prone to lots of base knocks.

The reason why I won’t post that lineup is because it won’t help you win any money. The more players that are wagered on (and not unique) makes it unlikely to win any serious money.  You must factor it in to just break even though.

On Saturday, I am loving using Michael Wacha versus San Diego.  Maybe he will have better success against the Padres than his fellow chucker Adam Wainwright had.

With savings to the lineup placed forth by putting in a Danny Espinosa, and creative other value priced Nats in Michael Taylor, we are able to secure Bryce Harper.  I love adding Taylor to offset Harper’s $5900 price tag.  With him leading off a lot, it provides decent chances to at least provide value.

As for the Catcher, I can always switch out before the lineup locks should Matt Wieters not be confident in starting (he never played Friday).  Stephen Vogt, Francisco Cervelli or Miguel Montero would be all right to take the spot. Read the rest of this entry

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/23/16

P – Michael Wacha (vs. San Diego Padres): $8,900. This is by far the best pitching match-up on the daily fantasy slate for Saturday. Wacha is averaging 15.5 points per game this year on Draft Kings, so he is a pretty solid option.

He is facing the San Diego Padres, whom is the 29th worst offense in baseball. In the one game that Wacha threw against the Padres in his career, he absolutely dominated them. In 28 at bats, he held them to a .107 opposing batting average, 3 hits, and 7 strikeouts.

Wacha will be traveling to San Diego for this game, but their stadium is very pitcher-friendly, so this is good news for Wacha. In 2016, he has a 1-0 record, in 16.1 innings pitched, 2.76 ERA, 15 strikeouts, and only 3 walks.

P – Jhoulys Chacin (vs. New York Mets): $6,400. Chacin has been a strikeout machine in his first two starts this year. In 11.1 innings pitched, he has a 2.38 ERA, 14 strikeouts, and 0 walks.

His first two games came against two tough offenses, the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins, and he took care of business. He faces a Mets offense on Saturday that has really struggled in 2016.

The Mets are ranked as the 26th worst offense in Major League Baseball. New York also have the 9th most offensive strikeouts, 134, which could be a great source of points for Chacin on Saturday.

Chacin could give up 3-4 runs on Saturday, but his first two starts suggest he should continue to rack up strikeouts and limit his walks. All signs point towards the RHP having a pretty good game and he is only $6,400.

Chicago Cubs Win Runs Scoring Survivor 2016 – Then Shutout Reds To Knock Them Out Of MLB Shutout Survivor

Jake Arrieta through his 2nd no hitter in just 12 regular season starts, and effectively eliminated Cincinnati from the quest to be the last team blanked in the MLB.

The Reds will finish no worse than 13th.

Chicago also wrapped up the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor when the Marlins failed to tally either 8 or 9 runs in their 5 – 1 win vs the Nats Thursday.  There are still plenty of things to look forward to in the contest, including who is the last to complete the journey.

What Runs Survivor is: A MLB team scoring 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or (10+) in different games throughout the course of the season.

Once a club has one of these run totals once, you cross it off and keep going until they complete the 11 different variations.

Coming off a No hitter in Cincinnati on Thursday, I love the Cubs to continue their dominance over the Reds this weekend.  While I would say that Chicago will win the game handedly, the prices are just too high for some of the hitters.

I love picking Bryce Harper in any lineup right now.  You always know he will walk even if he doesn’t club the ball out of the yard.  I am calling for a stack against the Twins Kyle Gibson.

I also went with 3 Baltimore Orioles vs Chris Young in KC – who is yet to his stride this year.

Chris Davis has got to be the best play in the Majors besides Bryce Harper tomorrow.  He should get some lemons to hit over the wall.

I love playing Matt Moore against the struggling Yankees lineup.   Their Left Handed hitters like Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner should have a tough time.

The Rays chucker has not allowed a HR to New York’s hitters through 54 AB.  Meanwhile, the Rays should be able to score versus an aging CC Sabathia.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/22/16

P – Aaron Nola (vs. Milwaukee Brewers) $8,300. Rather than picking an elite pitcher and a low/mid tier guy (which I typically do), I’m sticking with two very solid mid-tier options.

Aaron Nola has been very impressive this year despite his high ERA. In 19 innings pitched, he has 23 strikeouts, a 5.68 ERA, but he owns a 3.14 FIP. His low FIP shows that his ERA is very inflated and shouldn’t reflect his performance early in the season.

He has a great strikeout rate and he is facing a very weak Milwaukee Brewers offense.

The Brewers have the 5th most strikeouts in Major League Baseball, so there is a great chance Nola will capitalize on the swing and misses of the Brewers on Friday.

P – Aaron Sanchez (vs. Oakland A’s): $7,200. Sanchez has started 2016 on a very impressive hot streak. In 20 innings pitched, he has a  1.35 ERA, 20 strikeouts, and 7 walks.

His walk rate could hurt you a little bit, but at this price, I think he is worth it. He is facing the 25th worst offense in baseball on Friday.

While the Oakland A’s don’t strikeout much (113 strikeouts, which is 11th best in the MLB), they do struggle to take a walk (only 37 walks, which ranks as the 5th worst rate in the MLB).

Since Sanchez’s kryptonite has been his walk rate in his career, this statistic could work to his favor on Friday. If he can limit the walks, he could be a very solid daily fantasy option.

Odds To Win The MLB 2016 World Series + Best And Worst Bets

The Mets made it to the World Series in 2015 after a subpar start heading into the Trade Deadline. With a ton of pitching and some decent positional players still on the roster, they could set themselves up for a lengthy run in the NL East. Especially if they can coordinate a couple of trades (Pitching for hitters).

The Nationals asserted themselves on this leaderboard thanks to a quick start.  They were my 2nd best bet last week at +1100.  Now the odd at +650 is not worth any money at all.

Since Washington was able to play so well, this has created the perfect storm to put some more cash on the Mets.  At +1300, New York is just begging for a wager.

The strength of schedule to which the Nats have played has definitely factored in.  2 series versus the Braves and Marlins and one against the Phillies already, Dusty Baker‘s club has had about a ‘cupcake itinerary’ as you possibly could find.

It gets better for the District’s squad, as they go home for another series with Philadelphia – that comes on the heels of a weekend Interleague series versus the Twins.

If Washington wins those 2 series, they should be about 15 or 16 wins after 22 games.  They should cement themselves in the playoffs with an easy NL East opponents schedule all year.  I just want to see them play some tougher clubs.

The Mets offense has sprung to life behind the backs of Yoenis Cespedes, Neil Walker, David Wright and Michael Conforto.  When the Pitching Rotation settles in a little bit, they should take off.

While Washington is leading the Division, they have yet to face the NL reigning pennant winners.  The division win could come down to the 19 contests between the two clubs.

Terry Collins‘ team has 16 straight games versus squads with losing records.  While the Giants are capable of contending all year, New York should be able to match them well for pitching. Read the rest of this entry

The man is about to turn 34, and could opt out after the season next year with a clause in his contract.  The Padres should look to trade him if a deal comes along with value.  Shields could still fit the bill for several contending teams.  It also might be a cheaper alternative if he pitches well, if he decides to reenter the open market in a down 2016 winter for chuckers.  Shields has $65 MIL guaranteed over the next 3 years.  Not bad for a guy who has a 127 - 97 record with a 3.74 ERA - including 9 straight years of double digit wins to his credit.

Chicago Cubs Will Win MLB Runs Scoring Survivor 2016 – Unless Miami Pulls Off A Miracle

With MLB Runs Scoring Survivor 2016 just getting off the ground, the Cubs have set a record by completing all of their different runs variations from (0 – 10) in only 15 games.

That is 11 combinations of scores.  This is impressive for the young squad.

The Marlins have taken out 9 of their totals in 13 contests, and will need to score run marks of 8 and 9 runs respectively over the course of the next 2 days.

If Miami were able to accomplish this incredible task, they would claim victory in this category.  As a tiebreaker for clubs locked at the same amount of games, is the runs tallied in your final scenario completed.

Max Scherzer will take the hill against “The Fish” on Thursday, so I wouldn’t put money on the Marlins going much over 3 runs plated.

Even when we crown the winner we wont stop posting the totals until all teams are finished tacking off their combinations.    After all there will be an ultimate loser too.

What Runs Survivor is: A MLB team scoring 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or (10+) (in different games throughout the course of the season).

We are also running MLB Shutout Survivor, where we monitor who is the last club to be zeroed on the year.  There are 12 teams still alive as of Apr 19, 2016.

Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For Draft Kings 4/21/16

P – Clayton Kershaw (vs. Atlanta Braves): $13,600. Kershaw comes at a steep price, but he is well worth it. There are tons of great pitching match-ups on Thursday, but Kershaw is the most sure bet.

When looking at other big match-ups, they didn’t quite match-up to Kershaw’s potential performance.

Dallas Keuchel has really struggled against the Rangers when playing in Arlington, Jake Arrieta has been crushed in his career when pitching at Cincinnati, and Max Scherzer has struggled at times against the Miami Marlins.

While there seems to be at least one red flag in all of the match-ups I mentioned, Kershaw pitching against the Braves is a match-up made in heaven. 

In 88 at bats against Kershaw, the Braves lineup is hitting .148 with 34 strikeouts. In 3 starts this year, Kershaw has thrown 22 innings (averaging more than 7 innings per game) with a 1.64 ERA, 20 strikeouts, and only 2 walks.

These numbers are absolutely elite for daily fantasy.

P – Ricky Nolasco (vs. Milwaukee Brewers): $6,600. Nolasco is a boom or bust option. He is either going to give up 6 runs in the first… or he is going to strikeout 10 over 7 innings.

He is a hard guy to understand, but it is hard not to love him versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.

The Brewers have the 26th best offense in Major League Baseball and it doesn’t look like that will be improving anytime soon.

Milwaukee have aready struck out 128 times this year, which ranks as the fifth worst in Major League Baseball.

After spending so much on Kershaw, it was necessary to take a price cut on the second pitcher, and Nolasco provides the most hope out of cheap options.

SF/MIA Both Zeroed Last Night As They Inch Closer To MLB Run Scoring Survivor Leaderboard: 12 Teams Remain In 2016 MLB Shutout Survivor 2016

Miami may have been eliminated from MLB Shutout Survivor, but it was their 9th different run variation in 12 games. The Cubs have 10 different totals in 14 games to lead that contest.

All of a sudden the Giants are below .500 ( at 7 – 8), and were zeroed out by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday  night.  San Francisco just couldn’t solve Robbie Ray.  They were not the only ones to have no runs in a game last night.

The Miami Marlins were tied with Washington at 0 until the 7th inning – when the Nats exploded for four HRs in one frame, including 3 solo jacks and a Bryce Harper Grand Slam. 

By the way….for those counting at home, the reigning NL MVP now has 20 RBI and 7 HRs on the year.  This guy is amazing.

Stephen Strasburg helped hold the Fish scoreless, and we are now down to just 12 clubs left.

There was almost a 3rd squad to join the list yesterday, but the ‘Phightin Phillies’ ruined the Mets Shutout bid, by plating a runner in the bottom of the 8th at Citizens Bank Park.  They were still clobbered 11 – 1, and yielded 6 big flies to New York.

For MLB Runs Scoring Survivor, there is team that is within earshot of the Cubs – with Miami being blanked yesterday. 

After just 12 games, they now have 9 contests where they have scored runs that are not the same as any other. 

Jeffrey Loria’s club needs games of 8 and 9 guys passing home plate exactly to complete the journey.  These are the toughest marks.

The D’Backs have pulled out 9/11 variations thanks to a 9 – 7 11 inning tilt on Monday evening. In fact, the Giants joined them last night at 9/11 run scoring totals and have also played 15 games.

Tampa Bay, Toronto and San Diego all placed victories in action last night – but all failed to tally a new run total, and are all presently at just 5 different variations.

P – Ubaldo Jimenez (vs. Toronto Blue Jays): $7,000. It’s typically not a good idea to start a pitcher against the powerful Blue Jays offense, but Jimenez could be an exception. In 206 career at bats against Jimenez, the Blue Jays are only hitting .204 with 61 strikeouts. With this large sample size, I feel confident enough to say that Jimenez will contain the Jays offense. At this price point, he provides a lot of flexibility with the rest of the lineup.

P – Danny Salazar (vs. Seattle Mariners): $9,500. Danny Salazar is a strikeout machine. Throughout his career, he is averaging 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings. This year is no different. In his first two starts, he has thrown 11 innings with 16 strikeouts. He also has a 2-0 record with a 0.79 ERA. He will be facing the Seattle Mariners, whose offense is pretty average. It shouldn’t be a tough match-up for Salazar on Wednesday. In 35 career at bats against Salazar, the Mariners are hitting .114 with 13 strikeouts.

So I said last at the end of the last week that the Cubs were poised to win the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor competition, and now they are just 1 run variation short (they need 3 runs in a game).

They could win the category tonight when they renew their NL Central rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals.

This is all possible because they were blanked 2 – 0 by Tyler Chatwood at Wrigley yesterday, coupled with 2 Nolan Arenado Homers.

Cleveland was eliminated by a 6 – 0 shutout on Sunday as well.  The New York Mets took 2 of the 3 games in the Interleague series.  Since the Tribe has played so few games, they were assigned the 18th place finish already.

Finally, the Tigers were bageled 1 – 0 by Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros.  Detroit is also tied for last place in the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor – with owning 5 different results with the Padres, Rays and Jays.

Quite surprising with their potent offense, that Toronto has not tallied 8 runs in a game yet, it is believable they have not scored zero or runs though.  Read the rest of this entry

Lets start off by saying that the game between the Rangers and O’s today has been PPD already due to rain.  Make sure you switch out all of your fantasy selections off of this.

I like the Cubs, Nats and Cardinals all to win their games here, but also like Jarred Cosart to lead the Marlins in avoiding the sweep to the Braves.

All of those clubs I picked just there are perfect for stacking.  Love Bryce Harper no matter what the price because he will draw walks even if it is a slow day/  He had homered in 5 straight games and destroys Philly pitching in that short porch at CBP.

I went with Buster Posey at Catcher because he will play in the night game for sure.

P – Zack Greinke (vs. San Diego Padres): $10,000. Greinke will face the San Diego Padres at their home stadium on Friday. Luckily for Greinke, he has dominated the Padres his entire career and the Padres home park is known as a great pitchers park.

In 136 career at bats against Greinke, the Padres offense is hitting .191 with 36 strikeouts. Greinke should get plenty of run support behind him from the DBacks offense to earn him the win on Friday.

P – Garrett Richards (vs. Minnesota Twins): $9,300. Richards will be facing the struggling offense of the Minnesota Twins on Friday. In his only start against the Twins at their field in his career, he threw 8.2 innings, with 7 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs.

Throughout his entire career, the Twins starting lineup has faced him in 48 at bats, totaling a .167 batting average, and 10 strikeouts.

The Twins are currently ranked as the last team in the Major Leagues when it comes to run production (only 13 runs scored in 2016, compared to the second place team with 20 runs), so this could be a great matchup for Richards.

Braves Get Blanked In 8th Straight Loss: 21 Teams Left In 2016 MLB Shutout Survivor + MLB Runs Scoring Survivor Update

The Braves had themselves a bad day as an organization in the Disttict yesterday. Not only the whole Hector Olivera situation, but they fell to 0 - 8, were eliminated from the MLB Shutout Survivor contest, and face Stephen Strasburg today.

So the Braves have 8 straight losses to begin the year (as do the Twins) -but yesterday marked the 1st time they were bageled in those contests.  Can either of the Braves or Twins take a run at the 1988 Baltimore Orioles run of 21 straight defeats from the start of a season?

Out of the 9 clubs that been zeroed in the MLB, only 3 have come from the Senior Circuit (Mets, Braves and Padres, but San Diego has seen a donut 4 times on their scoresheet already.)

6 teams have suffered a Shutout in the AL, including the Yankees and Blue Jays – who I thought may have stuck around a long time.  Overall shutouts are way down compared to other years. Read the rest of this entry

Seattle is now 0 - 5 at home, and can't buy any hits on home turf. 7 runs in 5 games is not the way to start your campaign at Safeco Field. This is not foreign territory for the Mariners, who routinely have the worst batting numbers at home every year. Playing games versus AL West counterparts the A's and Rangers - they have posted just an .486 OPS while at home

A quick start by Robinson Cano has quickly faded into a Batting Average of .182.  Dae-Hoo Lee and Adam Lind have collected just 3 hits in the eight total contests thus far.

Kyle Seager and Ketel Marte have provided little punch from the Left side of the infield.  I expect Seager to turn himself around, but I was one to always question why the franchise didn’t go outside the squad to bring in a new veteran shortstop.

Both clubs were eliminated from MLB Shutout Survivor, and must get their lineups back in order, or they will also fall way back in MLB Runs Scoring Survivor too, having picked off all of the low run scoring totals.

The Padres were blanked for a 4th time in 8 games, and still only have 3 different variations on their season.  This is tied with Tampa and Detroit for the fewest marks off the scoresheet, but they have played one more game than the Rays and 2 more contests than the Tigers, so they are ranked 30th in this competition.

Chicago continues to lead the movement to all 11 runs scored scenarios, with having plated a different amount of guys in every single game thus far.  All they need to complete this competition are run totals of 0, 1, 3 and 8.

Oakland, Texas, Arizona and Colorado have 6 out of the 11 run totals, but they all need to knock off some of the higher totals – unlike the Cubs. Read the rest of this entry

Odds To Win The 2016 MLB World Series

The Tigers had a nice week of 3 -1 to start the year. Miguel Cabrera and he offense looked good. The Starting Pitching was given a massive lift with Jordan Zimmermamnn doling out a Shutout on the Comerica Park opener Friday. In a competitive AL Central, the Motown Boys should still be in contention for a playoff spot all year, and be given respect. Instead, clubs are ahead of them in the AL that shouldn't be. At +2200 they are a bargain. They are the best bet on the board this week.

After the 1st week of action the gamblers have spoken.  The Cubs are solidifying their status as the favorite.  Despite a slow week – the Jays are still tied with the Royals for the favorites in the Junior Circuit.

They finally have pegged KC at the right mark.  In fact, I have no problem with the top 5 odds listed at all.

The first place I have found value is with the Nationals.  They went 3 – 1  in the 1st week. and will throw both Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg 2 times each this week versus the Braves ( 4 game series) and Phillies (3 game series).  I could see this team winning at least 5 games, which would put them at 8 – 3 or better after next Sunday.  Bet them now before their odd jumps to +800.

To begin the year the NL East was rail thin in difference. and with Washington jumping out to a bit better of a start than New York – coupled with the cupcake schedule this week. they are a great value on the board.

Detroit is going to my favorite selection of the week.  They win 3 of 4 games, have solid offense – and yet maintain their same odd from last week, when all of the AL West clubs did not have a winning record except for the A’s, and the AL Central and AL East had the usual culprits only playing okay (in addition to Baltimore).

While I received better value at betting the O’s to win the American League Pennant in my preseason picks (At +2800, which is now what they are listed at for the World Series following their 5 – 0 start.)  Listen I am happy I made those picks, and the ALCS win was the way to go versus the +5000 bet they had – as I think all AL clubs would be underdogs in the Fall Classic against the top 5 favorites. Boston Gets Blanked: Then There Were 23 Teams Left In 2016 MLB Shutout Survivor + MLB Runs Scoring Survivor Update

The Jays won a critical AL Divisional game versus the Red Sox to salvage their weekend – but also knock out one of the favorites not to be shutout before all other clubs.  Marco Estrada frustrated and stymied the Beantowers at the Rogers Centre.

With plenty of clubs having not played 5 games yet, Boston could finish higher than 23rd still, if those other clubs get walloped more than 3 – donut.

In MLB Runs Scoring Survivor, the Cubs picked off their 7th variations, and could be the 1st club to complete once they hit games where they score 8, 5, 3, 1 and 0 runs.  Perhaps the zero may be the toughest total to reel in for them.

There is a huge logjam at tied for 2nd with 5/11 variations.  Washington has only played 4 games, so you will have to forgive them for their low 2 different variations.

The Padres have completed 6 games this year. were shout 3 times to start the season, then scored 16 and 13 runs right after, and then finally place a number between 1 and 9 runs yesterday with 3.

We will take the amount of games played as the factor in determining who wins, so even if a club finishes 1st – all others would have to have passed the mark for them to be deemed the winner.  Tiebreakers will go to the clubs who scored the must runs on their final variation.  If there is still a tie, the standings for Runs Per Game (in the MLB) will be the next tiebreaker. The Mets were blanked yesterday by the hapless Phillies for their 1st win of the year.  Both New York clubs are now out of this competition.  One has to think this clubs pitching staff will take many other teams out of this category.

It is a shame too because the legend of Bartolo Colon reaches new heights with his Willie Mays ‘style’ catch on a popout.

Speaking of winless, the Minnesota Twins extended their losing streak to 5 games to begin the year in their loss to the Royals 7 – 0 yesterday.

The only Division not to feature a club with 0 runs in a game for 2016 is now the NL Central.

For the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor, the whole NL West has now had their teams score 10+ runs in a contest.

Incredibly after 3 straight games of being bageled, the Padres have put forth 29 runs in the last 2 games.  It is a good thing they went to Coors Field to kickstart their campaign.  They were also able to end Trevor Story‘s HR streak at 4. (In which he hit 6 jacks).

The Cubs also extended their variations streak to 5 games without having the same run total, and are the favorite to win this competition considering they have a 6, 9, and 10 (or 10+) game already. Read the rest of this entry

The Yankees became the 4th club to be blanked this year yesterday afternoon in Detroit.  While some teams have not played their 4th games already. their placement could be higher than 27th. however this was to be expected.

I hate the fact they cashed it in as a fan.  Sitting Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran all in the same game – just four games into the schedule is pretty dumb.

I have no problem with the guys excusing A-Rod with a pass versus the tough right hander in Jordan Zimmermann, but really the club could have started Mark Teixeira at First Base and had Beltran as the DH.  Are they really that frail that they can’t even make it through half a week?

At worst, why not rotate who takes the contest off.  They better all be in the lineup today against Mike Pelfrey.

It is completely understandable for Joe Girardi to give the veterans the day off, no worries there, but to field a lineup that possessed Dustin Ackley and Aaron Hicks is ridiculous.  They should have just thrown CC Sabathia in this match if they were putting out the “B” lineup.

Regardless here –  the Yankees are gone from this competition.  At least they crossed off another variation in their MLB Runs Scoring Survivor. Read the rest of this entry

Odds To Win The MLB Divisions In 2016: Best Value Bets

It seems about once every 3 years Ubaldo Jimenez puts together a Cy Young caliber type of year. If he can find all the stars aligned in the right direction he could throw like a suitable #1 pitcher in the league. The problem with the rotation is that Jimenez and Tillman are up and down - while Gausman and Bundy are unproven at the big league. At least the potential is there for one year.

So less than a week of play has occurred and we are seeing some early trends.  They jumped from +1300 to +900 in 3 games, and I still believe that is great value.

1st impressions are I am glad I bet a lot of money on the Baltimore Orioles for the Division and the American League Pennant overall.  Yes they swept a Twins club at home, and  have yet to play on the road, but the pitching looks decent.

Chris Tillman and Ubaldo Jimenez look decent in their limited work, and the offense has come up clutch.

If the O’s are able to get that Cy Young caliber type of chucker Jimenez seems to wharf into for half a year (for once every 3 seasons), than maybe Baltimore has a fighting chance to win the AL East in 2016.

Baltimore was 47 – 31, and played one of the weirdest home games ever in front of no fans after the Baltimore riots.  For those scoring at home too, the Rays hosted 3 games with the civil unrest, and that is why there were only 78 games played at Camden Yards in 2015.

The Orioles were 34 – 50 on the road.  If they are able to win some games away from home cooking, they will compete. Read the rest of this entry

Speaking of SD.  For the second straight day “The Friars” were bageled by the Dodgers.  They are seeing more zeroes on the scoreboard than Bill Gates estimated net worth so far this campaign.

They are also the only club in the NL West not to plate ten runs thus far in the season.

In MLB Runs Scoring Survivor – the Tampa Bay Rays scored 3 runs for the 3rd straight contest in their controversial victory against the Toronto Blue Jays last night.  Repeating the same run total this early in the year is a big way to fall back in this competition.

2016 MLB Shutout Survivor (LAA + SD Eliminated) + MLB Runs Scoring Survivor Update (LAD, SF + COL All With 10 Runs Or More

It something small yes, however it took 49 games for the 2014 Los Angeles Angels to be shutout in that campaign. They won this competition. As of right now, they will finish 29th for this category, with being on the back end of a 9 - 0 drubbing in Interleague courtesy of the Chicago Cubs at Angel Stadium last night in Anaheim.

It almost always happens in Game 1 for at least a few clubs.  Last night the Cubs blanked the Angels 9 – 0 and San Diego was massively speedbagged 15- 0 behind the brilliant pitching effort of Clayton Kershaw.

With the Tigers, Marlins, Red Sox, Indians,. Astros and Yankees all yet to play – it would take a 16 – 0 score or higher today for San Diego not to be the loser of this contest.

On the other side of the Survivor Pools was a bunch of high scoring games in the NL West.

The Dodgers,  Giants and the Rockies all plated at least 10 runs or more, with the totals of 15, 12 and 10 respectively in their games.  Scoring 10 or more runs is the second hardest mark to acquire in the contest for the 11 variations of 0 – 10+.

The Cubs racking up a 9 spot on the Angels bodes well for them to complete the quest early.  Scoring 9 men in a game is the single hardest amount. Read the rest of this entry
