Jameson Taillon’s First MLB Win Took a While, But the Timing Was Perfect For the Pirates
From the moment he got drafted to the moment he officially earned his first big-league victory, this was not how Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon imagined it would all happen. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth the wait, though.
Expectations were high within seconds of him learning he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft — right after Bryce Harper and right before Manny Machado. Those expectations continued growing after just 23 career minor league starts when analysts began mentioning him as one of baseball’s top 20 prospects. He continued proving those analysts right as he rose all the way up to Triple-A as a 21-year-old in 2013.
And then suddenly, everything had to be put on hold. In the blink of an eye, Taillon went from being a stud top prospect on the verge of his big-league debut to being sidelined with injuries for two full seasons.
Then, it happened – the call Taillon was anticipating on getting sometime during 2014 finally came on June 8 in front of the home crowd at PNC Park against the New York Mets. It wasn’t a Stephen Strasburg-like debut, but it wasn’t too shabby. The right-hander delivered a quality start by allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts in six innings of work.
Little did he know how soon and how important his second MLB start would be.

If I can’t see my favorite team in the World Series, I would want to see some of the brightest and elite stars in the game. A shocking amount of superstars over the last few decades failed to play in even a single World Series.

Ichiro vs Rose
By Josh:
A lot of talk in the baseball world has been centered on the fact that Ichiro is about to surpass Pete Rose for all-time hits as a professional. Heck even my dad brought it up as we were having lunch together yesterday.
The thing that is making this topic so controversial is that Ichiro got quite a few of his hits while playing in Japan. This has got me thinking about whether or not I will consider Ichiro the Hit King or if that title stays with Pete Rose.

Why Clayton Kershaw Should Be The National League MVP
That title is a bold statement, but I’m standing by my words. Clayton Kershaw is playing at a level that isn’t even comparable to other pitchers in 2016. It is very difficult to compare the statistics of a batter to a pitcher for the MVP race, but in my opinion, it is very obvious that Kershaw deserves this award if he continues at this pace.
Of course there are plenty of deserving bats who will compete for the NL MVP award, including Nolan Arenado, Kris Bryant, Daniel Murphy, Anthony Rizzo, and many more, but Kershaw is putting together one of the most dominant pitching seasons we have seen in the the history of baseball. June 2016 MLB Power Rankings

Hunter Stokes (Chief Writer/Part Owner)
Follow @stokes_Hunter21 Follow The MLBreports On Twitter
Texas has surged to the best record in the AL, and also have the best record in the MLB since May 8, 2016.
There are 5 clubs that have registered 20 victories since May 8. 2016, and they are: Texas, San Francisco, Washington, Cleveland – plus the New York Yankees all have done the feat.
While the Cubs are still playing great baseball in the Windy City, the White Sox have flamed out, going 9 – 22 over their last 31 contests. That is still only 4.5 GB the Cleveland Indians. so all is not lost for a recovery. They have plummeted down 14 spots in the rankings.
Cleveland had the biggest pole vault up the list, heading all the way up to 5th – despite losing Michael Brantley to the DL again.
The Yankees have posted a 20 – 14 record since Aroldis Chapman has come in. Perhaps a lot that has to do with the incredible play of Carlos Beltran.
Kansas City and Detroit have gone on massive streaks either way but are still within earshot of the Tribe.
St Louis has been a lot steadier over the last month, and will still find a tough climb ahead at 9 games out in the NL Central right now.
The O’s are holding steady at 10 games over .500 – riding a favorable home schedule (where they are 24 – 11) but have 8 more games played at Camden than on the road.
Milwaukee has surprisingly been a better squad since early May, and have a winning record. They are just 4.5 GB the 2nd wildcard spot – but they are in talks to start trading everyone away.
Speaking of deals…I think the Pirates should take a hands off approach to this season considering where they are. Their talent level is there for that dreaded one game playoff, but adding anyone – other than youngster Tyler Glasnow. who would follow Jameson Taillon‘s making his debut, would be a bad idea. As presently constituted, they should fight it out with the Dodgers and Cardinals for the 2nd wildcard. Read the rest of this entry
MLB Trade Rumors: San Francisco Giants Trying To Acquire Ryan Braun
It is no secret that the San Francisco Giants are trying to land an outfielder after losing all-star outfielder, Hunter Pence, for the next few months due to a very severe hamstring injury. As of right now, the Giants have filled the outfield with Gregor Blanco, Denard Span, Jarrett Parker, and Mac Williamson. As you can imagine, this outfield is not doing the trick considering Span is only outfielder with an on base percentage higher than .310 this season.
The Giants currently have a five game lead in the National League West, but over the last seven games, their offense is ranked last in OBP, 28th in runs scored, and dead last in slugging. If the Giants want to keep this lead in their division, they need to find a way to add an elite bat to their lineup during Pence’s absence.

MLB DFS Strategies: How To Stack 3, 5 + 7 Teams + 3 Pitchers To Win Money

We are using a formula that is not being implemented by anyone else. Granted this theory works way better on FanDuel than on DraftKings, but is also a great GPP maneuver for the bigger totals on DraftKings. We also like the choice between the two sites. Being able to switch off players on DraftKings, and have 15 games per day is conducive to more other player rosters spread out over the field. This system does not mesh well with head to head to double up formulas. It is best used with Quintuple up winnings, or great big jackpots. Your 9, 30 or 63 rosters will all be different – and you’re hoping that one of the variations will be that one to hit it big.
We posted a little while ago on our new MLB Reports MLB DFS strategy. First off I will say that it works far better on FanDuel, and FanPicks than it does on DraftKings, however we will not exclude DK from the discussion – as the payout big if you do hit, but it can be a grind.
The sites where they give you more points for offense is the big deal there.
So what we do is isolate three pitchers (one ace, one mid level and one bargain) who we like for the slate of games. Then based on the team stacks that are good, we decide whether or not to implore 3, 5 or 7 team stacks. Depending on this number determines whether you use 9, 30 or 63 rosters for the night.
Based on what contest you like to use, you must check on the max entries for your selections. We must commonly use 5 stacks with the three pitchers. This gives you the chance to both use DraftKings and FanDuel on equal footing.
Since you must use two pitchers on DraftKings, the three pitchers will be on 66.67% of your lineups, while on FanDuel each chucker is used once for 33.33%. It still stands to reason you need to have 2 of the 3 chuckers to throw well on any given night to turn a profit. If all 3 are good, your chances increase even more. Read the rest of this entry
