FATHER AND SON FOR THE CYCLE.
Cavan Biggio hit for the cycle tonight, joining his Hall of Fame father, Craig, on the list of batters who did the trick. They are second father and son combo to hit cycles, with Gary and Daryle Ward being the first. This was the first cycle by a Blue Jays hitter since Jeff Fry pulled the trick in 2001.
Here is the list, updated for today’s action!

SECOND CAREER CYCLE FOR TREA TURNER!
Not only is this the second cycle of Washington infielder Trea Turner, it is his second one against Colorado! Maybe the Rockies should find a way to pitch around Turner from now on.

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Jorge Polanco, April 5, 2019)

Bill Streicher, USA TODAY Sports
A CYCLE IN A LOSING CAUSE!
You can’t blame Jorge Polanco for the Twins loss. He smacked a cycle and collected 5 hits. The fact that his homer was the only run he scored and the only run he knocked in may have explained how he had such a highlight in a 10-4 blowout the other way.
Either way, Minnesota has their first cycle since Michael Cuddyer’s in 2009 and we got the first one of the year.

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Charlie Blackmon, September 30, 2018 )

Andy Cross – Denver Post
Now THAT is what I call coming up big in an important game!
The Rockies needed to win today if they still want to win the NL West title. So what did Charlie Blackmon do? He hit for the Cycle of course! And the Rox demolished the Nationals 12-0 and will force a play in for the West tomorrow in Los Angeles.
What will he do for an encore in Game 163?
Here is the list, updated for today’s action!

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Christian Yelich, September 17, 2018 )

Fox Sports Wisconsin
Another cycle for Christian Yelich?
Why not?
Is hitting for the cycle a once in a lifetime experience? Evidently not for Christian Yelich. In less than a month, he has pulled off the trick twice. BOTH times? Against the Reds. Safe to say he has their number.
With the 8-0 drubbing, the Brewers still have a shot at first place. And it is safe to say Yelich has been a good pick up for the Brewers.
How will the Reds pitch to him tomorrow?

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Christian Yelich, August 29, 2018 )

I think Christian Yelich is in a groove.
A day after clubbing 2 homers, he went 6 for 6 in an extra inning game and with a game tying triple, made it a cycle. Don’t put a qualifier on this one. He completed the cycle before the game went into extras!
The Milwaukee bats are heating up and Yelich just seems happy to be out of Miami.

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Jose Abreu, September 9, 2017 )

The White Sox future looks bright and present has a big highlight!
Sure the Giants and the White Sox are basically just playing out the string. But don’t tell Jose Abreu that. He legged out a triple and completed the cycle against the Giants.
It was the first White Sox cycle since Jose Valentin. The last White Sox cycle hit by someone with a first name OTHER than Jose was Chris Singleton in 1999.
Lots of young talent on this White Sox team. Maybe next Abreu can lead them to more wins.

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Cody Bellinger, July 15, 2017 )

Wilfredo Lee – AP
The Marlins still don’t have a cycle… but their fans witnessed one today!
Cody Bellinger can do it all and look here! Evidently doing it all includes tripling past Giancarlo Stanton and completing the cycle.
The Dodgers are red hot. Hell, they may not lose another game this year. And with Bellinger swinging his bat then the Dodgers could have back to back Rookies of the Year.

Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each MLB Franchise (Updated For Nolan Arenado, June 18, 2017 )
So Rockies fans can finally see one of their OWN players hit for the cycle!
Seems like Coors Field is the place to hit for the cycle. And man, Nolan Arenado found the ideal way to finish it. Needing only a homer to check all the boxes off, he launched his in the bottom of the 9th for 3 runs and his team down.
A walk off, come from behind multi run homer to finish the cycle. That’s not a bad day at the office!
Here is the list, updated for today’s action!

The Most Recent Cycle Hit For All Teams (Updated for John Jaso, 9-28-2016)

GENE J. PUSKAR/AP
Could this be the last cycle of the year?
John Jaso got the first ever cycle in PNC Park history. It has been a let down of a year for Pirate fans but at least they got a highlight towards the end of the year.

The Most Recent Cycle Hit For All Teams (Updated for Rajai Davis, 7-2-2016)

FRANK GUNN/AP
A Cycle in a losing cause!
Even when the Indians lose, they win SOMETHING. The Red Hot Indians had their 14 game winning streak snapped but saw the first Cleveland cycle since Travis Hafner did it in 2003.
It is a good time to be a Cleveland fan!
Here is the list, updated for today’s action!
The Most Recent Cycle Hit For Each Team
Why doesn’t hitting for the Cycle get the same love as throwing a no hitter?
Seriously, hitting for the cycle is just about as uncommon as a no hitter. Only 305 cycles have been hit, as opposed to 287 no hitters.
Getting the perfect combination of a single, double, triple and homer requires skill, consistency and an obscene amount of luck.
Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds and Willie Mays never did it once.
Michael Cuddyer, Chris Speier and Brad Wilkerson did it twice.
There has never been a cycle hit in the post season, as opposed to a pair of October no-no’s (Don Larsen and Roy Halladay.)
The Marlins have never had a player hit for the cycle. Neither have the Padres, who also have never had a no hitter.
So while I carefully update the list of the most current no hitter for each franchise, I have neglected to do the same for players who hit for the cycle… until now.
The pic is of the last cycle, hit by Michael Cuddyer, who has done so in both leagues (along with Bob Watson and John Olerud.)
Some of the teams have waited a while for an update. Eric Davis’ cycle in 1989 remains the last time it happened for Cincinnati. The Expos (2003) have had one more recently than the Red Sox (1996.)
Here is the list, to be updated when the next cycle is hit!
