Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 8/19/16
P- Tanner Roark (vs. Atlanta Braves): $10,600. In nine career starts against Atlanta, Tanner Roark has a 1.77 ERA. In fact, his last start was against the Braves, where he went seven innings giving up five hits, one earned run, and he struck out three. In his two starts against Atlanta this year, Roark has given up one earned run in 14 innings pitched.
P- Adam Wainwright (vs. Philadelphia Phillies): $6,600. This pick does scare me a bit, but I’m going to stick with it. Over Wainwright’s last two starts, he has not been effective at all. Luckily, the Cardinals are giving Wainwright an extra two days of rest because he believes he has found the issue in his windup. This pick is risky, but the other options that are affordable are very risky as well.

A Little Hope Goes A Long Ways
By Josh:
I’m a Mariner fan and over the past 15 years there hasn’t been a lot of reason to hope. There were times as a fan I got really excited and then each year my hopes would be stepped on, ran over, beat with a stick an then tossed out with the trash. However, this year has been different for a lot for a lot of reasons.

Baltimore Orioles Have Been Treading Water, but Look More Equipped for a Playoff Run
For a team that entered the 2016 MLB All-Star break with a 51-36 record, it can be viewed as disappointing to go 15-15 since returning to action like the Baltimore Orioles have. However, manager Buck Showalter and his coaching staff should actually be viewing it as progress based on how they got there.
One of baseball’s best and one of baseball’s worst
Throughout the 2016 season, Baltimore has proved a lot of people wrong (including myself). Sure, they started the year on a nine-game winning streak, but we all know fast starts don’t always produce playoff-caliber teams once the calendar flips to August and September.
For standing the test of time during the first three-and-a-half months, the organization can thank its offense and bullpen, while shaking its head at the rotation.
Many loved watching the Orioles hit, but very few enjoyed watching them pitch – at the beginning of games, at least. Starters combined to post a 29-28 record in the first half with a 5.15 ERA, which was third worst in the majors. They also didn’t last very long, with their 470 innings pitched ranking last out of 30 teams.

Alex Rodriguez, Prince Fielder and Two Different Types of Retirement
By: William Earl Robinson
At the end of this week one of the most controversial players in the sport of baseball is going to retire. Alex Rodriguez is finally going to hang up his cleats and with that action will finally relinquish the hostage situation that he was employing on the Yankees organization. Also retiring after 10 short years is a different sort of player a player who is retiring way ahead of his time. Prince Fielder is hanging up his cleats and with that action baseball loses an amazing ambassador for the game and a wonderful energetic personality for fans to enjoy. There couldn’t be a more stark contrast between any two players.

Goodnight Sweet Prince: Giving The Retiring Prince Fielder His Due
Texas Rangers slugging first baseman Prince Fielder has announced that he is retiring from Major League Baseball due to having recently undergone his second spinal fusion surgery in the past three years. He was a star for much of his 12 big league seasons but will likely not go down as an all-time great. That being said, he was a tremendous player who has never been fully appreciated for his influence and place in the game.

Aaron Judge homered in his first ever big league at bat, added another hit and a fine running catch to make quite a first impression leading the Yankees to an 8-4 victory over Tampa Bay.
Matt Boyd did not allow a run in his 7 innings of 2 hit domination of the Rangers and got the 2-0 victory for Detroit.
Joey Votto started the scoring with an RBI single. He would finish with 4 hits, including a double and a pair of runs batted in as Cincinnati clubbed Milwaukee, 11-5.
Madison Bumgarner threw 7 shutout innings, striking out 8 Orioles and earning the 6-2 decision for the Giants.
