Let’s see owned baseball on September 8, 2019
Earning Full WOBs:
Sandy Alcantara threw his second complete game shutout of the season, striking out 8 as the Marlins blanked Kansas City, 9-0.
Yordan Álvarez collected 4 hits, including 3 doubles, driving in 6, in the Astros 21-1 bombing of the Mariners.
Gerrit Cole allowed a solo homer and no other hits nor runs over 8 innings where he struck out 15 Mariners in a lop sided 21-1 Houston final.
Eugenio Suárez got 3 hits, including 2 homers. The second one tied the game and set up the Reds 4-3 walk off win over Arizona.
Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Mookie Betts went 2 for 4 with a homer but the Yankees doubled up the Red Sox, 10-5.
Ken Giles threw a perfect inning, which is more than any other AL pitcher could say yesterday, in Toronto’s 8-3 loss to the Rays.
Mike Leake did not walk a batter while pitching into the 7th, finishing with 2 runs over 6 1/3 innings, striking out 3 Reds. The Diamondbacks bullpen would blow his lead and the game, 4-3.
Wilson Ramos reached base 3 times, homering and steaing a base, driving in 3 but the Mets lost an excruiciating 10-7 game to Philadelphia.
