Justin Verlander struck out 11 Diamondbacks over 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits and 1 run to earn the 5-4 decision for the Astros.

Adam Wainwright threw 6 shutout innings, striking out 9 and pushed the Cardinals into a Wild Card tie with a 5-0 blanking of the Dodgers.

Johnny Field homered, doubled and added a pair of singles, driving in  2 to help the Twins past the Royals, 9-6.

Anthony Rendon reached base 4 times, homered and drove in a pair to help the Nationals top Atlanta, 6-4.

Lance Lynn struck out 7 Blue Jays over 5 innings, allowing only a single run. He was taken out early and the Yankees bullpen blew the lead and the game, 3-2.

Jacob deGrom threw 7 innings, striking out 12 Red Sox and allowed 3 runs. The Mets bullpen lost one of his starts again, this time 4-3.

Daniel Palka homered twice in the White Sox 8-4 loss to Baltimore.

David Peralta got on base 3 times, homering and scoring twice but the Diamondbacks were edged out by the Astros, 5-4.
