WOB was my great experiment to try and track players value based upon how they became the big performer of individual days, taking in account stats and the significance of the game.
Four of the final names very well might line up with the real awards.
But why are Matt Moore and R. A. Dickey there? Is that a flaw in WOB? Or is it a flaw in US?

Who Owns October? (WOO) Tally Updated For WS Game #1 October 23, 2013

Each winning team for every post season game gets a pitcher and a hitter who earn a full WOO.
And at my discretion, I award a 1/2 WOO to a worthy player on the losing team.

Receiving 1 WOO:
Jon Lester was brilliant, pitching shutout ball into the 8th. He finished with 7 2/3 scoreless innings, walking 1 and striking out 8 and let up just 5 hits and got the 8-1 win for the Red Sox over the Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series.
David Ortiz launched one homer and was robbed of a grand slam. In all he drove in 3 as Boston clobbered St. Louis 8-1.
Receiving 1/2 WOO:
Carlos Beltran gave the Cardinals their lone highlight when he caught David Ortiz’s home run and kept an early Red Sox lead from getting out of hand. He had to leave the game and eventually the Cardinals did collapse, 8-1.

From today’s games:
Receiving 1 WOO
Chris Capuano came out of the bullpen in the 4th inning and stopped the Braves offense. He threw 3 no hit scoreless innings, scattering 3 walks and allowed the Dodgers to pull away. He received the victory in Los Angeles’ 13-6 win.
Francisco Liriano was up to the challenge in Game 3 of the Division Series. He pitched 6 strong innings, letting up only 3 hits and 2 runs. He even walked for good measure as the Pirates won 5-3 over the Cardinals.
Andrew McCutchen might not have had the big highlight hit, but he was on base 4 times, scored 2 of the Pirates runs and hit the double that sparked the game winning rally as the Pirates won 5-3.
Hanley Ramirez was a home run short of the cycle, getting on base 4 times, scoring 3 runs and contributed to three different rallies as the Dodgers pushed the Braves to the brink, 13-6.
Receiving 1/2 WOO:
Carlos Beltran continued to be a force in post season play. He hit a game tying 2 run single in the 5th and crushed a game tying homer in the 8th, providing virtually all of St. Louis’ offense in a 5-3 loss to the Pirates.
Evan Gattis singled and scored in the first inning and singled in the Braves 3rd inning rally, pacing Atlanta’s offense early before they were shut down in the 13-6 loss to the Dodgers.
I’ll update the new names daily.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (September.27th) – Updated Yearly ‘WOB’ Standings

A.J. Burnett pitched 8 terrific innings against rival Cincinnati, earning the victory after yielding only 1 run and 5 hits. Pittsburgh topped the Reds 4-1 and put them on the verge of home field in the Wild Card game.
Matt Holliday reached base 5 times, homered and scored twice, leading the Cardinals to a 7-0 drubbing of the Cubs and a clinching of the NL Central title.
James Shields finished his first season in Kansas City with another terrific game. He went 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 runs, walked just one White Sox batter and struck out 10, earning his 13th win, 6-1.
Drew Stubbs powered the Indians a little closer to the Wild Card by getting on base 3 times, scoring all three times including a homer. The Tribe topped the Twins 12-6.
They all owned baseball on September 27, 2013.

Shane Victorino hit a pair of homers, scored 4 times, drove in 7 and amassed 10 bases in the Red Sox 13-2 humiliation of the Orioles.
Andy Pettitte pitched 7 shutout innings, leading the Yankees past the Blue Jays, 7-1.
Gerardo Parra drove in 5 runs, including 3 on a homer, and was the specter on deck for the Diamondbacks bizarre 10-9 extra inning walk off victory over the Padres.
Jonathon Niese gave Met fans reason to cheer with a complete game, 3 hit shutout of the Phillies, 5-0.
They all owned baseball on August 26, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (July.28th) – Updated Yearly ‘WOB’ Standings

David Ortiz made up for a humiliating ejection on Saturday with an electrifying Sunday. He went 4-4 with a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored, leading the Red Sox to a 5-0 victory in Baltimore and catapulted Boston back into first place.
Ubaldo Jimenez dominated the Texas Rangers with 8 masterful shutout innings letting up only 2 hits and 3 walks. He got the 6-0 win as the Indians swept Texas.
Jason Heyward homered in the third and drove in another run in the go ahead 6th inning rally, propelling the Braves to a 5-2 victory and a three game sweep of the Cardinals.
José Fernández was brilliant through 8 innings. He let just 5 hits, walked none and struck out 13 Pirates and picking up a rare win for the Marlins, 3-2.
They all owned baseball on July 28th, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (July.27th) – Updated Yearly ‘WOB’ Standings

Chris Archer pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout in the Bronx as the first place Rays held off the Yankees by the slimmest of margins, 1-0.
Stephen Drew went 3-5 with a pair of home runs, including a bizarre reviewed homer. He drove in 5 of the Red Sox 7 runs as Boston topped Baltimor 7-3.
Hyun-jin Ryu threw 7 innings of 2 hit ball against the Reds, giving the Dodgers another hard fought victory, 4-1.
Andrelton Simmons 2 out 2 run double in the bottom of the 8th broke up a scoreless tie between playoff contenders. It was all the offense the Braves would get to beat the Cardinals in a 2-0 thriller.
They all owned baseball on July 27th, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (July20th) – Updated Yearly “WOB” Standings
Hanley Ramirez went 3-5 including an RBI double in the 10th that gave the Dodgers the lead for good, topping the Nationals 3-1.
C. J. Wilson pitched shutout ball into the 9th inning, finishing with 8 1/3 innings, no runs and 8 strikeouts as the Angels defeated the A’s, 2-0.
One day after being benched for not hustling, Alex Rios went 3-5 with 5 RBI including a grand slam off of Paul Maholm, leading the White Sox to a 10-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Gio Gonzalez struck out 11 in 6 shutout innings against the Dodgers. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in what was a scoreless tie and did not get the decision in Washington’s 3-1 loss to L.A.
They all owned baseball on July 20th, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (July.9th) – Updated Yearly “WOB” Standings

Alex Rios tied an American League record with six hits in a 9 inning game, the first 5 against Justin Verlander. Rios also stole a pair of bases and sparked the game winning 8th inning rally as White Sox clubbed their way to an 11-4 win.
James Shields pitched well over 7 innings, giving up only 1 run and 5 hits, winning the game 3-1 for the Royals over the Yankees.
Marlon Byrd broke open a tense, back and forth game against the Giants by blasting an 8th inning grand slam. The Mets prevailed, 10-6.
Wily Peralta threw a complete game shutout against the mighty Cincinnati Reds. He held the defending division champs to 3 hits as the Brewers won a close game, 2-0.
They all owned baseball on July 9th, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (July 7th) – Updated Yearly “WOB” Standings

Adam Jones hit a two run 9th inning home run off of Mariano Rivera to give the Orioles a stunning 2-1 victory and avoid the sweep in the Bronx.
David Price went the distance, letting up only 1 run and walking none, getting the win and completing the Rays three game sweep of the White Sox.
Clayton Kershaw was brilliant over 8 innings, giving up only 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 run. He dominated the Giants and ,won a tense game for the Dodgers, 4-1.
Josh Satin scored the first run and drove in the other. The first baseman provided almost all the offense for New York, going 3-4 and leading the Mets to a 2-1 win in Milwaukee.
They all owned baseball on July 7th, 2013.

Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (June 30th) – Updated Yearly “WOB” Standings

David Lough went 4-4, including three doubles, four runs scored, three RBI and a go ahead 8th inning home run leading the Royals to a wild 9-8 win in Minnesota.
Justin Masterson pitched the Indians into a virtual tie with the Tigers as he tossed a masterful 6 hit shutout of the White Sox, 4-0.
Madison Bumgarner gave the Giants 7 innings letting up only 4 hits and 1 run as the champs halted a six game slide with a 5-2 win over the Rockies.
Yasiel Puig was a home run shy of the cycle, finishing 4-5 and scoring a pair as the Dodgers made quick work of the Phillies, 6-1.They all owned baseball on June 30th, 2013.
