Sitting on a bench by the Clearwater River in Lewiston, Idaho, I pondered the current state of the Red Sox and how they need to make sure their recent first round picks were worth it.
The river flows steadily by in Episode 976 of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Wade Miley got rocked, the Red Sox got swept and maybe it is healthy to realize it isn’t going to happen this year. And Red Sox fans, that might not be a bad thing.

Red Sox fans need to get a grip. It hasn’t even been 20 months since our team has won a World Series. And the building blocks for a new title are being placed.
Eduardo Rodriguez is one of those pieces. But we need a better nickname for him than E-ROD!
Plus I talk about umps ejecting players and Lloyd McClendon’s use of Fernando Rodney.

Maybe the Red Sox should turn to their young minor league arms to improve their 2015 chances. And perhaps they can think outside of the box in terms of how to use them.
Plus I talk about objectivity and impartiality on Episode 932 of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Miguel Cabrera, Anibal Sanchez, Derek Norris, Aaron Harang, Shin-Soo Choo, Trevor Bauer and Anthony Recker all added to their totals for Who Owns Baseball?
It is early in the season, but not TOO early to think about how the Red Sox should adjust their pitching staff.
Also I remind everyone my thoughts about the DH and my brother Ted.

Two high profile and highly paid former World Series hero third basemen are in the news.
One is the reviled Alex Rodriguez of the team I hate the most, the Yankees.
The other is the lovable “Kung Fu Panda” Pablo Sandoval, who moved from my second favorite team, the World Champion Giants, to my favorite team, the Red Sox.
So why is Alex Rodriguez earning my respect and Pablo is making me think “Shut up, Panda”?
Find out why on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Newsflash! Pablo Sandoval is not a thin man.
Maybe Red Sox fans should have made a mental note of that before freaking out after Steve Silva of Boston.com posted the picture seen above.
Also, evidently, Yankee fans did not cheer when A-Rod homered in the 2009 post season. Who knew?
That and other surprising facts on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

10 years ago, Jason Giambi gave one of the strangest press conferences in baseball history. Even though I am a Red Sox fan, I found the surreal presser to be oddly endearing and sympathetic and made me see Giambi for what he was: A big dumb lovable lug.
Meanwhile today, A-Rod is apologizing to the Yankees, who SHOULD be welcoming him with open arms.
Over in Boston, their outfield is crowded as hell. Don’t worry. Time will sort it out.
East Coast Bias? Maybe for today on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
It looks like the Red Sox are signing Pablo Sandoval to a big huge long term deal. And your pal Sully, a life long Red Sox fan, is NOT happy.

@sullybaseball Rumors about Lester to Dodgers, do you think Red Sox should move him?
— Jim Furlong (@EWOKinLA) July 24, 2014
Jon Lester will probably not be a member of the 2015 Boston Red Sox. We all know that. So how should the Red Sox prepare for it?
And how will Red Sox fans react to Lester as a member of the Yankees NEXT year?
