Who Owned Baseball June 15, 2017 (Daily #MLB AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVP’s) + 2016 #WOB Standings

PIVETTA

Derik Hamilton – AP

Nick Pivetta threw 7 shutout 4 hit innings, striking out 9 Boston batters. He did not get the decision but he set up Philadelphia’s 1-0 win.

Jose Berrios gave the Twins 8 strong innings allowing only 2 runs and earned the 6-2 victory over the Mariners.

Nolan Arenado went 3 for 5, driving in 4 as the Rockies took a wild 10-9 game from San Francisco.

Chris Gimenez homered twice, driving in 4 runs to lead the Twins past the Mariners, 6-2.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Rafael Montero did not allow a hit, walk or run over 3 shutout relief innings, striking out 3 Nationals along the way. The damage was made with the 8-3 defeat of the Mets.

Chris Sale was brilliant, shutting out the Phillies over the first 7 innings before allowing a single run in the 8th, striking out 10 along the way. He even smacked a double for good measure. But Boston’s bats were dead and Sale took the hard luck, 1-0 loss.

Brandon Crawford got 3 hits including a 3 run homer that set up the tying rally. The Rockies would walk off 10-8 over the Giants.

Gary Sanchez reached base 5 times, driving in a pair and scoring a run in the bizarre 8-7 extra inning A’s win over the Yankees.
