Daily Fantasy MLB DFS Picks For DraftKings 8/17/16

P- Homer Bailey (vs. Miami Marlins): $8,900. Bailey looked really good in his last start. He went six innings, giving up three hits, one walk, and 11 strikeouts. He will be facing the Marlins on Wednesday, who just recently lost Giancarlo Stanton for the year. Over the last seven games, the Marlins have a .686 OPS, which ranks 26th in Major League Baseball.

P- Yordano Ventura (vs. Detroit Tigers): $7,800. In his three starts against the Detroit Tigers in 2016, Ventura has put up 15.85, 24.65, and 18.35 points in DraftKings. He has also not allowed more than three runs in a start since July 3rd. In his last three starts, he has a 2-0 record, 2.89 ERA, and 15 strikeouts. Over the last seven games, Detroit has a .693 OPS, which ranks 24th in Major League Baseball.

Chad Green struck out 11 Blue Jays in 6 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and no walks as the rebuilding Yankees won a razor thin 1-0 game in the Bronx.

David Phelps recorded 8 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings and earned the 6-3 decision for the contending Marlins over Cincinnati.

Kevin Kiermaier reached base 4 times, homered and drove in 3 to lead Tampa Bay past San Diego, 8-2.

Wellington Castillo collected 4 hits, drove in 2 and scored 2 to help Arizona top the Mets, 10-6.

They All Owned Baseball on August 15, 2016.

There were times as a fan I got really excited and then each year my hopes would be stepped on, ran over, beat with a stick an then tossed out with the trash. Baltimore Orioles Have Been Treading Water, but Look More Equipped for a Playoff Run

For a team that entered the 2016 MLB All-Star break with a 51-36 record, it can be viewed as disappointing to go 15-15 since returning to action like the Baltimore Orioles have. However, manager Buck Showalter and his coaching staff should actually be viewing it as progress based on how they got there.

One of baseball’s best and one of baseball’s worst

Throughout the 2016 season, Baltimore has proved a lot of people wrong (including myself). Sure, they started the year on a nine-game winning streak, but we all know fast starts don’t always produce playoff-caliber teams once the calendar flips to August and September.

For standing the test of time during the first three-and-a-half months, the organization can thank its offense and bullpen, while shaking its head at the rotation.

Many loved watching the Orioles hit, but very few enjoyed watching them pitch – at the beginning of games, at least. Starters combined to post a 29-28 record in the first half with a 5.15 ERA, which was third worst in the majors. They also didn’t last very long, with their 470 innings pitched ranking last out of 30 teams.
