To make this list you must be able to meet rookie eligibility. To be eligible for a list, a player must have rookie eligibility.

To qualify for rookie status, a player must not have exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues, or accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the 25-player limit period, excluding time on the disabled list or in military service.

MLB Reports Top 100 Prospects In Mid – 2014 (51 – 100)

The Rockies are hoping Jon Gray and Eddie Butler can finally show them the kind of success they have been searching for at the Major League Level for pitching since they entered the MLB in 1993. Other than Jorge De La Rosa, (plus Jeff Francis and Ubaldo Jimenez having pockets of success,) a lot of high-priced and coveted pitchers have failed in the thin air in Denver. Their 3B Prospect Ryan McMahon also made our top 50 list.

Players 1 – 50

1. Carlos Correa SS HOU- The 2012 1st overall pick can do it all but it’s a real shame he’s out for the year. Will be a future stud and perennial all star.

2. Kris Bryant 3B CHC- The 2nd overall pick last year has skyrocketed through the minors and looks like a terrific middle of the order bat.

3. Dylan Bundy P BAL- He underwent Tommy John surgery last year but still posseses an elite arm with quality stuff. I would expect him in the starting rotation next june.

4. Corey Seager SS LAD- A first round pick that has not disappointed. He is 20 pounds heavier and 4 inches taller than his brother Kyle who is the 3rd baseman for the Seattle Mariners. You are talking a power tool and hit tool at a all star level. An absolute stud.

5. Byron Buxton OF MIN- A true 5 tool talent who was injured for much of this season. Drafted second overall in 2012 out of a Georgia high school and signed for 6 Million. I might have him too low at 4.

6. Julio Urias P LAD- He isn’t legal yet & pitching in high A ball & had a 3.25 ERA. I will bet anyone he makes it to the show before 20 and might before he turns 19.

7. Jorge Soler OF CHC- The Cuban was just promoted to AAA after batting over .400 in his past 88 at bats. A big corner bat with above average power that will be apart of a legendary Cubs lineup.

8. Oscar Taveras OF STL- Somehow he has struggled in the Majors but is having yet another fantastic season in the Minors this year with Memphis. A real bat to watch very soon.

9. Miguel Sano 3B MIN- You are likely a special player when there is a movie made about you. Sano is out for the season but possesses 40 HR power which is a big part of his ranking on the list.

10. Francisco Lindor SS CLE- Former top 10 pick this sweetswinging SS is a big reason why Asdrubal Cabrera won’t be returning next year. Still very young at 20 but I would love to see power develop.

11. Lucas Giolito P WAS- The Nationals got lucky to snag him at 16 in the 2012 draft due to injury concerns. A potential top of the line arm.

12. Javier Baez SS CHC- Baez isn’t having as good of a year as he should be having yet will still be a stud. There is debate as to whether he can stick at short.

13. Jameson Taillon P PIT- Very disappointing that he is out for the year as he would be a key cog in the Pirates rotation right now.

14. D.J. Peterson 3B SEA- I rate him much higher than many other rankings and had him high on my draft rankings last year. I think the bat and the power will play at the major league level to the tune of at least .280 & 25 HRs.

15. Mookie Betts 2B/OF BOS- Betts was transitioned to the OF because his 2B position is blocked by Dustin Pedroia. He has a little power but plenty of speed with his best tool his bat.

16. Alex Meyer P MIN- Meyer was acquired in the Denard Span trade which will soon be viewed as a win for Minnesota. The 6 foot 8 Meyer will be able to light up the radar with a very good slider and average curveball to boot. If the Twins were in contention he would be in the big leagues right now.

17. Joc Pederson OF LAD- Joc is the subject of many trade rumors right now and could be moved. A five tool talent that can handle center field caught up in a outfield glut in LA.

18. Taijuan Walker P SEA- People seem to have cooled on him a little bit but its easy to forget that he is only 21 years old. If Seattle is going to make the postseason he will be apart of it either starting for them or being a big trade piece.

19. Austin Meadows OF PIT- Meadows was one of my favorite prospects in last years draft but unfortunently was injured for most of the year. In his small sample size so far he is player admirably.

20. Aaron Sanchez P TOR- The Blue Jays in sort of an odd move called him up to the show to be in the bullpen for the rest of this season. He is still a starter long term. I am a big fan of his curveball.

21. Henry Owens P BOS- If you like tall pitchers we’ve got another one for you in Henry Owens. He might be a june call up candidate next june and has a blazing fastball to help.

22. Hunter Harvey P BAL- He is the son of a former all star closer but i think that his future is as a starter. The Orioles have quite a young talent trio in Kevin Gausman, Dylan Bundy, and Harvey.

23. Addison Russell SS CHC- Russell was the number 11 overall pick in the draft a couple of years ago – and recently was acquired from the Athletics for Hammel and Samardzija. The Cubs have to figure out who will play SS between Russell, Baez, and Alcantara.

24. Jon Gray P COL- The power throwing Oklahoma Sooner was the 3rd overall pick last year by the Rockies and is desperately needed for Colorado who has the worst ERA at home AND on the road. He can be the ace for an organization that hasn’t really had one aside from Ubaldo JImenez for a couple years.

25. Ian Clarkin P NYY- Before being drafted Clarkin who is from the San Diego are was a “Yankee Hater’. I don’t know if he has number 1 starter potential but he looks likely to hit an upper to mid range ceiling.

26. Jose Peraza SS/2B ATL- What a crazy year for Peraza hitting .350 with 55SB. He is a slap and speed kind of player and is only 20 years old in AA! He is absolutely stonewalled by Andrelton Simmons at SS so 2B looks like the spot for him.

27. Robert Stephenson P CIN- Stephenson looks like the complete package frontline pitcher. at 21 he is holding steady at AA and could be in the rotation in a year or two.

28. Aaron Judge OF NYY- Judge looks like a NFL linebacker in stature and during BP. He can hit for average and if he can ever tap into his power you are talking about an extremely good baseball player hitting in the middle of the lineup.

29. Archie Bradley P ARZ- Drafted 7th overall a few picks behind his pal Dylan Bundy and turned down a football scholarship to play baseball. The Diamondbacks might have overreached by sending him to AAA and he has been demoted to AA.

30. Kohl Stewart P MIN- The top high school arm in last years draft was taken 4th overall by the Twins. I really like his 4 pitch mix and he will be apart of some very good Twins teams quite shortly.

31. Jorge Alfaro C TEX- AKA “The Legend” I really like his hit tool and think that he can develop some above average power. More development is needed but he can stick behind the plate his entire career.

32. Franklin Barreto SS TOR- I may be rushing the gun on this one but Barreto to me has such a high ceiling i feel he deserves to be this high. He was the top international talent on the market in 2012 and can hit at a premium position. I would not be shocked at all if he was ever a top 7 prospect.

33. Josh Bell OF PIT- Bell sent a letter to all teams saying not to draft him and that he was going to be a Longhorn but then the Pirates picked him and offered 5 Million Dollars and now he’s a Buc. A corner outfielder with a nice hit tool and at least average power.

34. Noah Syndergaard P NYM- He has not had the type of year that was hoped for in the hitter friendly PCL. The Mets see him as a big part of their future rotation and that could be part of the reason they are trying to move big fat Bartolo.

35. J.P. Crawford SS PHI- Jimmy Rollins replacement is moving faster than expected through the Phillies system. JP will hit for average, have speed, and will have slightly below average power with the potential for plenty of doubles.

36. Ryan McMahon 3B COL- This kid is gonna love Coors field! Although he only has 12 HR he has 36 doubles but needs to raise that average which he will keep refining. He bats lefty and was a QB in high school with outstanding leadership skills.

37. Tyler Glasnow P PIT- Glasnow has had a crazy season in the Florida State League with an ERA of 1.74. You have to wonder if the Pirates can use him as trade bait.

38. Kyle Zimmer P KC- The 5th overall pick in 2012 has been out all season but I still think he will be a successful big leaguer. His 12-6 curveball can fall off the table.

39. Clint Frazier OF CLE- Frazier will probably always be compared to Austin Meadows. Frazier has years of development ahead of his but eventually should hit for power and average in a outfield corner spot.

40. Joey Gallo 3B TEX- Gallo has the most power of anyone in the minor leagues and has been able to truly tap into that massive power. Unforunately he strikes out way to much and I have some worries about his bat to ball contact at higher levels. I do have faith in him that he can keep up the contact and if that happens then watch out.

41. Eddie Butler P COL- Butler has moved very fast since being drafted 46th in 2012 even making a spot start for the Rockies this year. He will pair with Jon Gray to make a nice 1-2 punch for the Rox.

42. Albert Almora OF CHC- The Cubs center fielder of the future has had an up and down year and has never been a particular favorite of mine. I don’t see a high potential for power or high end speed. Other than defense his value will be determined by his bat and doubles potential.

43. Nick Kingham P PIT- I would rather have Kingham in the rotation right now than Edinson Volquez. He could also be trade bait as I think the Pirates are a good Shortstop away from winning the division.

44. Mikie Mahtook OF TB- Mikie had a rough year last year but has been good this year yet isn’t getting any credit. He is adequate in a corner and can help the Rays out offensively but he remains in the minors.

45. Jose Berrios P MIN- JO Berrios might not be the tallest but he can be a very good pitcher when his command is on. His stuff doesn’t make my jaw drop but he knows how to use it and can be crafty. Will combine with Meyer and Stewart to form an excellent young trio.

46. Raul Mondesi JR. SS KC- Mondesi is having a bad year but he is also in A+ and just turned 19 on the 27th of July. In the end you can see a sweetswinging SS with plenty of speed. An ideal #2 hitter.

47. Gary Sanchez C NYY- Sanchez is 21 years old in AA and seems destined for the big leagues. The only problem is the Yankees glut of players with McCann the primary backstop and my guess is he will move to DH with Sanchez catching.

48. Daniel Norris P TOR- Another pitcher with a nice 4 pitch mix this time north of the border. Sanchez and Norris are the Blue Jays Future starters who aren’t far away.

49. Daniel Robertson SS OAK- Robertson is the reason the A’s were able to trade Russell in the Cubs trade. He is very important to a extremely weak Athletics system and is the future SS behind Jed Lowrie.

50. Tyler Naquin OF CLE- The Indians future CF looks like a nice piece for the tribe. I absolutely don’t see a superstar but should play a good CF and hit for average with power hopefully coming.

MLB Reports Top 100 Prospects In Mid – 2014 (51 – 100)

The Twins have been going through a serious rebuild since 2011, and also have themselves 5 of our top 50 spots on the list. Byron Buxon and Miguel Sano have fought through various injuries, but both should be key contributors in this franchise as early as next year. They join Brian Dozier, Alex Hicks, Kyle Gibson and Oswaldo Arcia as top rated players in the farm in recent years.
