MLB HRs Of Note Saturday May 24, 2014

George Springer hadn’t hit any HRs and added 6 RBI through his 1st 19 Games Played in 2014, while hovering near ,200 – and Striking out plenty. The Astros 11th Overall Pick in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft- had hit 37 HRs and added 45 SB in 492 Minor League AB during the 2013 campaign. The 24 Year old RF has 6 HRs and 14 RBI in his last 14 Games. If Springer continues this emergence, it would really be the start of the Houston squads rebuild. The RHB hit jacks in his 1st 2 AB last night at Safeco, both were completely obliterated long into the Seattle night. This kid has phenomenal power.
Having been in attendance personally to watch George Springer light up Brandon Maurer for HRs in his 1st 2 AB, this guy is starting to be in the zone.
After a slow start, the Astros 24 YR old RF is starting to crush the baseball around the yard, with 6 HRs and 14 RBI in his last 14 Games Played.
Springer only had 2 HRs and 6 knocked in during his 1st 19 contests.
Not only did he have the only Multi HR effort yesterday in the bigs, He added his name to four fresh faces that have HRs in two straight games.
Pablo Sandoval hit a Tater Trot for his last 2 games, and has clubbed 4 HRs in his last 6 Games Played overall.
The rotund Giants 3B has a long way to go in order for his stats to resemble the back of his baseball card, but the San Francisco team had maintained in 1st place while waiting for the Panda’s emergence.

Mike Trout is starting to heat up again- following a stretch where his BA was nearing the .260 clip, with homers in 2 consecutive games, he has raised his total to 10 for the year, among a league leading 4 Triples, and also possessing 10 Doubles. The 22 Year Old CF has also passed the dish 33 times on the campaign. These are stellar numbers for a ton of players, including his .901 OPS, it is just that he is usually even in a higher stratosphere of production across the board. Trout will be in the AL MVP discussion before the 2014 season is over.
Mike Trout pasted a ball over the fence for the 2nd straight night as well. While he hasn’t been his vintage self, look for him to be in the MVP consideration by seasons end.
Michael Cuddyer enjoyed batting in the confines of Coors Field, to do yard work for the second straight game versus Atlanta Braves Pitching.
The 2013 NL Batting Champion just came back from a DL Stint, and is showing signs of that stroke that actually had him participate in the 2013 ALL – Star HR Derby.

Michael Cuddyer is also in the last year of his contract. Coming off an NL Batting Title in 2013, the RHB has continued his best stretch of play ever with a .325 BA and .950 OPS in the year thus far, with 5 HRs and 13 RBI in only 21 Games Played. Cuddyer has smacked Roundtrippers in back to back games versus the Atlanta Braves, a team known for great run prevention.
Cuddyer’s teammate Troy Tulowitzki continues to be unconscious in the thin air Denver.
TULO tied NL leader Giancarlo Stanton – with his 14th Blast of the season, and 8th in Colorado in just 73 AB this campaign.
Tulowitzki is still 3 Slashing .521/.600/.959 – with also having knocked in 24 RBI at Coors, which is filthy in any sample size longer than 25 AB.
The 29 Year Old RHB was the only top 5 HR hitter in either the AL or NL to move up the leaderboard yesterday.

This is a huge year for the Kung Fu Panda. Needing a new contract past this year, it is incumbent on the big man to have a great year. After an abysmal start, he has an OPS of well over 1.000 in the last 14 days, and has blasted 4 HRs and 8 RBI in his last 6, including a bomb Saturday night to have his 1st HR Streak of the year. Sandoval, 27, is still only carrying a .227/.279/.392 Slash Line – with 6 HRs and 18 RBI this season. He is well below his .293/.346/.471 Lifetime Mark of 7 years. Hopefully he continues his hot streak.
