Curt Schilling and I may not see eye to eye on many things. But I do think his Hall of Fame candidacy should be debated and his politics should stay out of it.

And will the 2017 be a rematch of Cleveland and the Cubs?

Happy New Year and it is time for The Sunday Request.
@sullybaseball What fan base is suffering the most going into 2017?
— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylor1138) December 2, 2016
For a question like this, I could not just make idle speculation. I needed to create a new statistic.
So, as demonstrated in this new Video Podcast, I created THE SUFFERING INDEX, designed to quantify numerically and mathematically which fan base is suffering the most.
But even these calculations found a few gray areas.

On today’s episode, I am posting part 2 of my conversation with former Detroit Tigers outfielder Larry Herndon.
He talked about key moments of the 1984 and 1987 post season years in Detroit including the moment he caught the final out to clinch the World Series.

While waiting for a plane at the Bob Hope Airport, or whatever it is called now, I wondered about expansion and relocation. I saw how LA football reflected Tampa Bay baseball and perhaps another team could work in New England.

Jimmy Rollins will continue his wonderful career as a member of the 2017 San Francisco Giants. Has he had a Hall of Fame career? Would have been a Hall of Famer had be played earlier in time?

The Raiders are trying to squeeze hundreds of millions of dollars out of Oakland for a new stadium. Why does Oakland bend over backwards for the Raiders and not the A’s?
And the A’s should think of breaking up with Oakland.

I made a snarky remark… and as it turned out, I was wrong. And I am stunned I was wrong about this topic. I still am.
But it goes to show the value of never thinking you know everything.

I visited CitiField, the new home of the Mets. It is a monument to the Brooklyn Dodgers and a missed opportunity to honor baseball of the 1960’s.

Attention White Sox fans!
The next few years will not feature a lot of wins for your team and LOTS for the Cubs. But if you stay loyal to your team, the amazing rebuilding process by the GM will reward you soon.

Chris Sale was dealt to the Red Sox from the White Sox… and oddly it could make a lot of sense for both teams.
The Red Sox are trying to win now and got him without bteaking up their young outfield.
The White Sox need quality AND quantity in their farm and Sale’s value is at its peak.
Socks are changed and bad puns are made on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

One Thousand Five Hundred straight days of podcasting.
Today, along with the audio that as always can be found on Soundcloud and iTunes, I did a video podcast to mark the occasion.
I looked at the concept of baseball nostalgia and realized that everything is trying to celebrate the late 1940’s. Why should post WWII monopolize traditional baseball?

It is Episode 1492, so I am talking Columbus (the city, not the dude.)
Is Columbus Ohio a major city?
Why Cleveland and Pittsburgh and not Columbus? Partially because of decisions made with a minor league in the late 19th century.

The Reds might not contend in 2017, but they SHOULD have the best lead off man in baseball in the rebuilding process… if only they would bat Joey Votto lead off. Along the way, I discuss why I won’t play James Bond and I tie it into the discussion.

Ryan Howard’s time in Philadelphia is done and maybe his career is as well. Why he became a cautionary tale of signing sluggers to long term deals, he also did enough to be given a salute for his accomplishments.

It is the Sunday Request… and evidently the tweet I was going to respond to has been erased. Go figure.
Well, friend of the Podcast @IlliniDodgers had issues with something I said in a previous podcast. I think he was right.
Along the way I tried to talk about a 60 second wait time to respond on Twitter and minority manager hirings.
It is a podcast of tough questions. Maybe I don’t have the answers, but I know we need to ask them.

Even nature had to stop and catch its breath as the Indians and Cubs fought through a game I rank as one of the 3 greatest I have ever seen.
