MLB DFS Strategies: How To Stack 3, 5 + 7 Teams + 3 Pitchers To Win Money

We are using a formula that is not being implemented by anyone else. Granted this theory works way better on FanDuel than on DraftKings, but is also a great GPP maneuver for the bigger totals on DraftKings. We also like the choice between the two sites. Being able to switch off players on DraftKings, and have 15 games per day is conducive to more other player rosters spread out over the field. This system does not mesh well with head to head to double up formulas. It is best used with Quintuple up winnings, or great big jackpots. Your 9, 30 or 63 rosters will all be different – and you’re hoping that one of the variations will be that one to hit it big.
We posted a little while ago on our new MLB Reports MLB DFS strategy. First off I will say that it works far better on FanDuel, and FanPicks than it does on DraftKings, however we will not exclude DK from the discussion – as the payout big if you do hit, but it can be a grind.
The sites where they give you more points for offense is the big deal there.
So what we do is isolate three pitchers (one ace, one mid level and one bargain) who we like for the slate of games. Then based on the team stacks that are good, we decide whether or not to implore 3, 5 or 7 team stacks. Depending on this number determines whether you use 9, 30 or 63 rosters for the night.
Based on what contest you like to use, you must check on the max entries for your selections. We must commonly use 5 stacks with the three pitchers. This gives you the chance to both use DraftKings and FanDuel on equal footing.
Since you must use two pitchers on DraftKings, the three pitchers will be on 66.67% of your lineups, while on FanDuel each chucker is used once for 33.33%. It still stands to reason you need to have 2 of the 3 chuckers to throw well on any given night to turn a profit. If all 3 are good, your chances increase even more. Read the rest of this entry

The Time To Buy On Byron Buxton Is Now

BY (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Website – rototargets.com)

Byron Buxton is back in the majors after really disappointing in his first stint earlier this year. Chances are, after hitting .163/.212/.306 in the majors earlier this year, his owner in your league might be willing to part with him at a reduced cost relative to his status as a top-3 prospect.
Yesterday in a chat at Fangraphs, August Fagerstrom had this to say about Buxton:
|
: Reports out of Minnesota seem to indicate that Buxton actually looked different in AAA. Sometimes guys are a little more willing to try something different when the games “don’t matter.” Maybe he found something.

New Dodger Bullpen Arm?

Emily Siskin-Toy (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner –behindenemylines32.blogspot.com)
Follow @3BugBooks Follow @mlbreports
The Dodger bullpen could soon be cutting off one beleaguered arm and replacing it with that of the team’s hot #4 prospect. I’m talking about Frankie Montas, the 23-year-old flame-thrower the Dodgers acquired from the Chicago White Sox last winter.
Montas seems well-recovered from his February rib bisection surgery, and looks ready to make the jump from AAA Oklahoma City when he is eligible to come off the 60-day D.L. the first week of June. In nearly two weeks split between AA Tulsa and OKC, Montas has compiled a 0.88 WHIP, struck out 9, walked 1, and has throw some high 90s heat (even hitting triple digits a few times).
It has been a small sample-size of only 4 games and 5.2 innings, but with the way Chris Hatcher and Pedro Baez have been throwing this year, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Dodgers cut one of these guys and give Montas a shot at helping revive the struggling bullpen. Hatcher should be on the chopping block first with his constant inability to get outs and his head looking totally out of order, but Baez is likely to get the bad news since he still can be optioned to the minors and Hatcher would have to be cut altogether (really, would this be so bad?).

The game is on, windows are open, and the fresh cool air was blowing off of Lake Ostego and into our small little room. Howie Rose’s voice filled the air and nervousness finally set in. The eighth inning had just begun and I was trying not to get too excited. You can’t help but wonder how you will react, how you plan on celebrating, how this could be one of the best nights of your life as a Mets fan. Three outs are made and the Mets are up to bat.
I turned on my Twitter app and started to read all of my fellow Mets fans’ tweets. The excitement was more than building, it was exploding! I love the fan loyalty, there really is no better fan base than ours. Point blank, no question, I dare you to challenge me. The feed wouldn’t stop refreshing but it didn’t matter – it was all Johan.
Howie comes back on the air and you never wanted a Mets inning to end so quickly. I was literally just hoping for three outs – I wanted the top of the ninth to start as soon as possible. The only thing I really remember at this moment was the cheering for Johan as he walked up to bat. They were even louder after he finally struck out and went back to the dugout. Andres Torres quickly made the third out and our dreams were to come true three outs later.

Throughout the first 50 games of 2016, Bogaerts is leading the American League in hits and batting average. He is currently batting .350, with 76 hits, six home runs, 30 RBIs, 42 runs, seven stolen bases, and a .401 OBP.

The Reasons Why Stephen Strasburg Is A Top-Five Pitcher In Baseball

As good as Stephen Strasburg was in the 2nd half of the 2015 year, ( 6 – 2 with a 1.90 ERA post ALL – Star), he has continued to assert himself as a top 5 pitcher in the MLB with his 8 – 0 start in 2016 – with a 2.79 ERA for`10 GS in his time this campaign so far. The 27 Year old RHP converted his recent success into a 7 YRs/$175 MIL contract extension – and is full value for it if he throws like this.
Trey Rose (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner – dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)
Follow @dynasty_digest Follow @mlbreports
Stephen Strasburg is a completely different and much more dominant pitcher this season. In 2015, Strasburg struggled with injuries. This led to an 11-7 record, 3.46 ERA, 155 strikeouts, 26 walks, and a 2.81 FIP in 127.1 innings. So far in 2016, Strasburg is 8-0, with a 2.79 ERA, 86 strikeouts, 18 walks, and a 2.29 FIP in 67.2 innings. Something has clicked and Strasburg is thriving in 2016.
Strasburg’s elite strikeout rate is what propels him to a top-five starting pitcher in fantasy baseball. He is averaging 11.44 strikeouts per nine innings in 2016. On top of his strikeout rate, he is also limiting his earned runs, but his FIP suggests that his ERA should reduce even more.
His mid-to-upper 90’s fastball and filthy breaking pitches are keeping hitters off balance and limiting consistent contact. From a statistical standpoint, see the link below that compares some of the top pitchers in the game and helps depict why Stephen Strasburg is a top-five pitcher in baseball:

Winter Work Paying Off For Yankee Farmhand Matt Marsh

Sean Morash (BBBA Writer/Owner – offthebenchbaseball.com)
Follow @blogoffthebench Follow @mlbreports
To say the Tampa Yankees closer, Matt Marsh, is a friend of Off The Bench is a bit of an understatement. I grew up with the kid, know his family, and my mother and uncle met up with him over the offseason to enjoy a college football game.
There’s something about the bond forged in the dugout during all those U-16 tournaments that we played across the Southeast that is indescribable. I mention all this to make clear that I’m biased. I root for Matt. Hard. OTBB even published an extended interview with him this winter.
When I heard that he planned to train hard this offseason at a facility in the DC area where a teammate had trained recently and gained a few miles per hour, I was excited. I knew Matt’s history of arm troubles had robbed him of the potential velocity that was evident from the time we were 12. I knew that he had spent time at 3 different colleges on his way to being an undrafted right handed reliever out of Liberty University.
From my position as a blogger and baseball nerd, I know the success rate of that type of player. I know 24-year old relievers in A-ball are often labelled “non-prospects.” They’re usually organizational filler that take up space on rosters, and help minor league teams compete through their rigorous schedule.
I know that often times these guys are the footnote in scouting notebooks. They’re the guys that the real prospects are supposed to hit home runs off of. Matt’s baseball resume is impressive, but until this year was just impressive enough to be good enough to face the million dollar bonus babies, the Jorge Mateo’s of the world.
But all that just makes me more excited as I regularly check Matt’s baseball-reference page. He started the season as a closer for the high-A Yankees.

The Tampa Bay Rays Are Just A Few Moves Away From Being Competitive

Sean Morash (BBBA Writer/Owner – offthebenchbaseball.com)
Follow @blogoffthebench Follow @mlbreports
The Tampa Bay Rays sit at 21 -25, 7 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East. They’re still fighting the uphill battle against organizations with more money to spend to try to compete annually. They’ve got an chance to get after it this year and make some noise, but currently sit in an interesting position where they could become sellers and pack it in in preparation for next season should things continue to go awry in key areas.
The modern Rays don’t really sell; they’re always looking to add value and remain competitive while waiting for a little magic dust to come flying in. I think that’s a good plan again this year as they sit near .500 today, and they’ve got some magic dust on the way.
The pitching staff has reinforcements coming soon: Brad Boxberger will soon return from the DL to fortify the bullpen. Alex Cobb is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and could help in the second half. Blake Snell is among the top 15 prospects in baseball and threw 134 innings last year with a 1.41 ERA.
But the problem with all these guys waiing in reserve is that the pitching staff has already been pretty solid and could be even better if a few contributors return to their expected level. They’re 5th in the AL in xFIP despite Chris Archer sporting a 4.62 ERA and Matt Moore owning an even worse 5.47 figure. Both guys are former All-Stars.
The pitching staff has been pretty decent and should improve even without the additional reinforcements.
The lineup? They’re a well-rounded and athletic group with a number of moving and interchangeable parts. They’re currently 3rd in the AL in WAR, but just 11th in runs.
See how Sean thinks Tampa Bay continue to get better by addressing a possible problem.

What’s Good For Baseball: Changes To Make The Game Better Including Umpires Not Going Rogue On All Star Players

By William Robinson (Featured BBBA Website – 9inningknowitall.com)

I like to talk about what’s good for baseball all the time. The funny thing about that is that there are so many different opinions about this that I’m sure that mine isn’t the only one and honestly may not be in the majority but
I’m going to do a blog here today discussing things that I think need to change in the game to make it more popular for the masses.
1. People do not come to the park to watch umpires. I’m sorry guys but Leslie Nielson isn’t walking through that door as a home plate umpire and nobody and I mean nobody is here to watch an umpire.
What people are there for is to watch good hitters hit and good pitchers pitch. So when I hear stories about home plate umpires picking fights with players (I’m looking at you Joe West) it makes me want to do away with home plate umpires in general. And why not? We don’t need them.

MLB Trade Rumors: Andrew Miller To The Texas Rangers

Trey Rose (Featured BBBA Fantasy Baseball Writer/Owner – dynastydigest.sportsblog.com)
Follow @dynasty_digest Follow @mlbreports
Let me preface this article by saying that this deal will only be made if the New York Yankees are out of the playoff race near the trade deadline. As of right now, the New York Yankees are 22-24, and 6.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox.
Considering how competitive the American League East is, there is a good chance the Yankees will be out of contention near the trade deadline, which means they will be sellers in the trade market.
The Yankees’ number one asset to move will be one of their three elite relief pitchers, Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, or Aroldis Chapman.
Of the three, Andrew Miller is the most likely to be dealt. Miller is under contract until 2018 (signed a four-year/$36 million contract in 2015), which is what makes him so valuable to a contending team. So far in 2016, Miller has appeared in 19 games, with a 2-0 record, 0.96 ERA, 33 strikeouts, and one walk in 18.2 innings pitched.

Matt Harvey’s Struggles Will Continue Unless The New York Mets Take Action

New York Mets’ pitcher Matt Harvey could use a few days, or even weeks, off. The Dark Knight currently sports a 3-7 record, with a 6.08 ERA, 44 strikeouts, and 17 walks in 53.1 innings pitched.
Based on his career stats (28-25 record, 2.92 ERA, 493 strikeouts, 111 walks in 480.1 innings in four seasons), there is clearly something wrong with Harvey, and the Mets need to do something about it.
Many people believe the Mets should skip Harvey’s next start, but they have stated he will continue on his normal pitching schedule. The only noticeable anomaly in Harvey’s statistics is his drop in fastball velocity from an average of 95.2 MPH in 2015 to 94 MPH in 2016 and decreased breaking ball efficiency.
This drop in velocity could be from fatigue, injury, mechanical flaws, or loss of confidence and pressure from lack of success.

These 6 MLB Players Have Been Incredible Free Agent Bargains So Far In 2016

Jordan Zimmermann joining the Tigers has reopened their winning window for at least this year. He has thrown well so far in his early tenure with the Motown Boys. If they had not signed him, they would be barely clinging to a .500 record this far into the campaign. The Tigers are 23 – 23, but have been surging of late – and Zimmermann is 7 – 2, with a 2.53 ERA and a 1.137 WHIP in 9 Game Starts. The former Nationals thrower inked a 5 year deal worth $110 MIL, which is nearly half of the total of ace pitchers David Price and Zack Greinke – SP who have struggled mightily to find their own groove in 2016.

Follow @mmusico8 Follow @mlbreports
During this past winter, the MLB free agent market seemed to move a lot slower than in recent memory. While there were plenty of legitimate players available after the holidays and with Spring Training fast approaching, a number of them still managed to bring in huge paydays.
Zack Greinke and David Price both broke records for starting pitchers with their respective $200 million deals, and there were five others who landed a payday of $100-plus million (Jordan Zimmermann, Johnny Cueto, Jason Heyward, Justin Upton and Chris Davis). Those huge contracts are great, but they also come with high expectations. Some have dealt with them just fine in 2016, and some are off to a slow start.
There’s plenty of baseball to be played, but with about a quarter of the regular season schedule complete, the following six players have been incredible free agent bargains thus far — especially considering the ever-growing cost of acquiring top talent on the open market.

When it comes to the game of baseball, sure things come few and far between. However, there was one thing just about everyone was sure about heading into 2016: the Toronto Blue Jays would have an incredible offense.
With Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson and Russell Martin back in the fold, along with a full season of Troy Tulowitzki, it’d be tough for anyone to stop them. Right?
Not so much.
Surprisingly enough, the greatest disappointment of all is how badly the lineup has performed through the first quarter of 2016. Using the same stats as the ones above, Toronto’s offense is basically average, which won’t help them return to October.
The offense not performing up to expectation has happened largely due to the lack of production from four very important pieces: Tulowitzki, Martin, Bautista and Encarnacion.
