Who Owned Baseball – June 12, 2019 (Daily #MLB AL/NL Pitcher + Hitter MVPs) + 2019

Let’s see owned baseball on June 12, 2019

Earning Full WOBs:

Brett Anderson pitched into the 7th, holding the Rays to 2 runs in 6 1/3 innings. He did not get the decision but the A’s slammed themselves to a 6-2 win.

Cole Hamels went into Coors Field and threw 7 shutout innings, striking out 9 Rockies as the Cubs rolled, 10-1.

Austin Riley collected 3 hits, including a game tying 9th inning homer, and scored the winning run in the 11th as Atlanta walked off against Pittsburgh, 8-7.

Daniel Vogelbach reached base 5 times, including a homer and 2 runs scored, in the Mariners wild 9-6 extra inning victory in Minnesota.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Zach Eflin threw 8 innings, allowing 2 runs while striking out 9. But the Phillies were blanked by Arizona, 2-0.

Trey Mancini homered and reached base 2 more times but the Orioles fell short against Toronto, 8-6.

Kevin Newman went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and a stolen base in the Pirates extra inning 8-7 loss to Atlanta.

Justin Verlander struck out 15 Brewers in 7 innings, walking none and allowing just 4 hits and 3 runs. The Astros would drop the 6-3 final in extra innings.

Trevor Bauer pitched into the 8th, finishing with 7 2/3 innings, 1 run and striking out 6 Reds batters. He did not get the decision but set up Cleveland walking off to a 2-1 final.

Dakota Hudson threw 7 strong innings, giving up 1 run and striking out 6 as the Cardinals slugged the Marlins, 7-1.

Brian McCann homered twice in the rain shorted 7-5 Atlanta victory over the Pirates.

Gio Urshela singled, doubled and homered, driving in 4 runs in the Yankees 12-5 double header opening win over the Mets. He added an RBI n the 10-4 nightcap loss.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Luis Castillo threw 6 innings, striking out 6 Cleveland batters and giving up just 1 run. But Cleveland came back to double up Cincinnati, 2-1.

Edwin Encarnación reached base 3 times, including a homer, driving in 3, but the Twins came back against his Mariners, 6-5.

Mike Leake held Minnesota to 3 runs, 6 hits and no walks over 7 innings. Seattle’s bullpen would collapse and drop the 6-5 final.

Anthony Rendon hit a pair of homers and walked but the Nationals came up short against the White Sox, 7-5.

Eduardo Escobar went 4 for 5 with a pair of homers and 5 RBI in the 13-8 Diamondbacks slug fest win over Philadelphia.

Charlie Morton kept the A’s scoreless over 7 innings, striking out 7, earning the 6-2 decision for the Rays.

Danny Santana had a 4 hit performance to lead the Rangers past the Red Sox in a wild 4-3 extra inning game.

Michael Wacha threw 6 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits while striking out 4 Marlins in the Cardinals 4-1 victory.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Starling Marte homered twice and added another hit but the Pirates were pounded by the Braves, 13-7.

J. D. Martinez reached base 3 times in the Red Sox 4-3 defeat by the Rangers.

Hyun-Jin Ryu held the Angels to 1 run over 6 innings in the Dodgers 5-3 loss.

Chris Sale struck out 10 Rangers over 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 unearned run. But the Red Sox bullpen lost the lead in the 9th and the 4-3 game in the 11th.

Matt Joyce doubled twice, walked twice and drove in the go ahead run in the 12th inning for the Braves 7-6 victory in Miami.

Brandon Lowe homered twice and singled, scoring 3 and driving in 3 as the Rays won in Boston, 6-1.

Jake Odorizzi struck out 8 Tigers in 6 innings, allowing 1 run as the Twins took the 12-2 blowout.

Noah Syndergaard allowed 1 hit and struck out 7 Rockies over 7 shutout innings to earn the 6-1 decision for the Mets.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Madison Bumgarner gave up 1 run over 7 innings, striking out 5 Dodgers. But that one run was too many as the Giants were blanked, 1-0.

Asdrubal Cabrera singled, doubled and homered but the Rangers wild comeback against the A’s fell one run short, 9-8.

Austin Dean got 3 hits, including a homer, driving in 3, but the Marlins lost 7-6 in 12 innings to Atlanta.

Peter Fairbanks stopped the bleeding with 2 perfect innings of relief, striking out 3 Oakland batters in his Major League debut. The Rangers dropped the 9-8 slug fest.

JaCoby Jones homered twice, adding another hit, driving in 5, to slug the Tigers past first place Minnesota, 9-3.

Nick Pivetta threw a complete came, allowing 1 run and walking no Reds to give the Phillies a 4-1 win.

Adrian Sampson led the Rangers in the first game of a doubleheader with a complete game 4 hits, 1 run victory, striking out 7 Oakland batters for the 3-1 final.

Corey Seager compiled 4 hits, driving in 4, as the Dodgers topped the Giants, 7-2.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Didi Gregorius went 2 for 4 with a homer and 2 RBI and 2 runs scored but the Yankees came up short in Cleveland, 8-4.

Brad Keller went 8 strong innings, giving up only 2 runs while striking out 4 White Sox batters. The Royals were shutout, however, 2-0.

Marcell Ozuna hit a 3 run homer in the first but the Cardinals offense sputtered out and the Cubs came back to win, 9-4.

Trevor Richards held the Braves to 2 hits and 1 run over 7 innings. But he took the hard luck loss as the Marlins were blanked, 1-0.

Ronald Acuña Jr. got 3 hits, including a homer, driving in 3, leading the Braves past Miami, 7-1.

Yonny Chirinos struck out 6 Red Sox in 8 scoreless frames to earn the 6-1 decision for Tampa Bay.

Cole Hamels threw 8 innings of 3 hit shutout ball, striking out 10 Cardinals to keep the Cubs tied for first with a 3-1 final.

Marcus Semien got 4 hits including a game tying single in the 7th and a go ahead 2 run homer in the 9th as the A’s took a dramatic 5-3 victory in Texas.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Delino DeShields got 3 hits and a walk but the Rangers lost 5-3 to the A’s.

Clayton Kershaw threw 7 strong innings, allowing 2 runs and struck out 4 Giants. But she took the hard luck 2-1 Dodgers loss.

Lance Lynn struck out 8 Oakland batters in 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. The Rangers bullpen blew the lead and the game, 5-3.

Joey Votto reached base 3 times, including a homer, but the Reds were doubled upped by the Phillies, 4-2.

J. A. Happ threw 7 innings, allowing 1 run and walking no Toronto batters in the Yankees 6-2 win.

Peter Lambert struck out 9 in his Major League debut, going 7 innings and 1 run to earn the 3-1 Rockies decision over the Cubs.

Mike Moustakas hit a pair of homers in the Brewers 5-1 victory over Miami.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Chris Sale threw a complete game 3 hit masterpiece, striking out 12, walking none and throwing an immaculate inning along the way as the Red Sox blanked the Royals, 8-0.

Jason Vargas struck out 8 Giants in his 5 hits complete game shutout to earn the 7-0 decision for the Mets.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

David Dahl went 3 for 5 with a double and a triple, driving in 3, in the Rockies 9-8 loss to the Cubs.

Robbie Grossman doubled twice and singled twice, scoring twice and drove in a run but the A’s collapsed and allowed the Angels to walk off, 10-9.

Walker Buehler struck out 11 Diamondbacks in 8 innings, allowing 2 hits, no walks and a single run to earn the 3-1 decision for the Dodgers.

Josh Reddick went 2 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored to lead the Astros past Seattle, 4-2.

Framber Valdéz threw 4 shutout innings in relief, striking out 3 as the Astros doubled up the Mariners, 4-2.

Earning 1/2 WOBs:

Wade LeBlanc came into the game in the second and threw 8 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run. The Astros scored all the runs they needed in the first to beat Seattle, 4-2.

Myles Straw reached base 4 times, stole 3 bases and scored 3 runs in the Astros 6-4 extra innings win in Oakland.
