Andrew McCutchen was dynamic, collecting 6 hits, stealing a base and extended his 14th inning at bat with foul ball after foul ball before slamming a come from behind, walk off, 3 run homer to stun the Dodgers, 7-5 in San Francisco.

Xander Bogaerts reached base 3 times, including a double and a grand slam, driving in 6 for the red hot Red Sox who clobbered the Rays, 10-3.

Vince Velasquez threw 6 strong innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk and 1 run as the Phillies humiliated the Marlins, 20-1.

Gerrit Cole struck out 11 Padres over 7 shutout innings. He didn’t get the decision but set up the Astros 1-0 extra inning victory.

Several teams have come out of the gate strong, winning games and making an early statement. The Giants are winning games without Bumgarner, the Mets and Pirates are creating a nice foundation and the Red Sox have won a week’s worth of games in a row.
