This is going to be an awesome HR Derby.  I am surprised to see that I had to google search that there was an actual bracket contest.  Bad marks for the MLB in not promoting the living bejeezus out of this contest.
 
I mean everyone loves to fill out a bracket for the NCAA March Madness.  The MLB really needs to keep the pedal to the medal on any chance they can to cash in on any publicity this might generate. They even have a sponsor in T-Mobile.
 
Before we get into the selections themselves, lets look at the odds to win the thing.

Wil Myers, SD, +550
Todd Frazier, CWS, +600
Adam Duvall, CIN, +600

The broken Miami Marlins scoreboard was another casualty caused by one of Stanton’s HRs. This was from a 462 ft Grand Slam off Jamie Moyer that came off Stanton’s bat at a ridiculous 122.4 MPH. This was the fastest a HR ball has ever been recorded coming off a bat.

This was the fastest a HR ball has ever been recorded coming off a bat at the time.  What kind of damage will he do in downtown San Diego?

They pegged the 1st 3 guys in this absolutely perfect.  Now, I have read other places that the overall favorite has not won the thing since 2010, and that people should back off the lowest odd on the board. Wrong..
 
I think that Giancarlo Stanton is coming to San Diego on a personal mission to win this thing. Don’t forget, he is not even an ALL – Star, and prompted the MLB to add his name to the list.  I would say he is eager.  Stanton could win player of the week after finding his power stroke again.
 
The big Marlins OF has the kind of light tower power that will shorten the effect of hitting in San Diego.
 
While I love the 2011 champ (Robinson Cano at +800), he has to face Stanton in the 1st RD.
 
Todd Frazier, the reigning champ, and runnerup in 2014, is having a bad season in White Sox land, but he is still crankin the HRs.  I say he is the biggest mark for an upset in Round 1 tomorrow night.
 
Wil Myers has a decent matchup in the 1st round vs Adam Duvall, and he has the comfort of hitting in his home ball park.  Like Frazier last year. this is a definite advantage.  In fact, I have Myers as the runnerup to Stanton in the final.
 
I was too busy during last years All – Star Game to do a blog, but I did nail the final 2 combatants in the 2014, with Yoenis Cespedes defeating Todd Frazier.
 
I will lay out $125 on Stanton,  $50 on Wil Myers, and $25 on Carlos Gonzalez for a break even maneuver.
