2016 MLB Shutout Survivor (LAA + SD Eliminated) + MLB Runs Scoring Survivor Update (LAD, SF + COL All With 10 Runs Or More

It something small yes, however it took 49 games for the 2014 Los Angeles Angels to be shutout in that campaign. They won this competition. As of right now, they will finish 29th for this category, with being on the back end of a 9 - 0 drubbing in Interleague courtesy of the Chicago Cubs at Angel Stadium last night in Anaheim.

It almost always happens in Game 1 for at least a few clubs.  Last night the Cubs blanked the Angels 9 – 0 and San Diego was massively speedbagged 15- 0 behind the brilliant pitching effort of Clayton Kershaw.

With the Tigers, Marlins, Red Sox, Indians,. Astros and Yankees all yet to play – it would take a 16 – 0 score or higher today for San Diego not to be the loser of this contest.

On the other side of the Survivor Pools was a bunch of high scoring games in the NL West.

The Dodgers,  Giants and the Rockies all plated at least 10 runs or more, with the totals of 15, 12 and 10 respectively in their games.  Scoring 10 or more runs is the second hardest mark to acquire in the contest for the 11 variations of 0 – 10+.

The Cubs racking up a 9 spot on the Angels bodes well for them to complete the quest early.  Scoring 9 men in a game is the single hardest amount.

The Padres should not feel bad in losing to the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw by any means. Yes 15 - 0 is a big time lopsided loss, but it is just one game. Unless a team gives up 16 runs in a shutout loss from either Miami, Detroit, New York, Houston, Cleveland Or Boston, they will be losers of this competition - with the worst blanking, even though their fellow Californian club the Angels also lost their first game by scoring donuts.

Tampa Bay and Toronto are the only 2 clubs to have played 2 contests so far.  Unfortunately neither of them advanced a second run total on the board, matching their Sunday score by an identical 5 – 3 clip.

As I have stated before, Toronto has won the MLB Shutout Survivor for the last 2 years, and are the favorite to be the last blanked, so them not acquiring a second run total to cross off this early may further complicate winning the MLB Runs Scoring Survivor.

I am sure they are cool with a 2 – 0 start, and have a chance to take 3 out of 4 games versus the Rays, or even the sweep them.

It is not unfathomable to see many zeroes in the 1st games of the seasons when staff aces take the mound.

We are carrying a daily total for both Survivor Pools on our sister website here at the BBBA.  I am going to update these lists on the mlbreports.com every time there is a team Shutout, or a club finally completes their 11 game variation.

Please take a second to take our polls on who you think will win each contest, just don’t pick the Padres Or Angels for the Shutout Survivor.

The Cubs were the only team score the elusive 9 runs in the games of yesterday. That number of guys plated is usually the toughest out of all 11 variations to come up with. I believe Chicago will easily hit for the higher run total games early, and with their swing and miss stuff, they could just as easily score few runs in a game. While I saw the Baltimore Orioles would be the favorite in the category, the Astros, Cubs and Rockies have to be the next few teams that could complete their marks.

I am happy to be back at the helm of the MLB Reports, after completing my record 224 Games in the MLB Trip in 2015.  It was the 4th time I have seen all 30 MLB Parks since 2008.

During that time away I was fortunate to do 100 Media Interviews and be named the Baseball Blogger Alliance President.

Interview on CSN Philly during the month of July.

About chuckbooth3023

I played competitive baseball until 18 years old and had offers to play NCAA Division 1 University Baseball at Liberty University. Post-concussion symptoms from previous football and baseball head injuries forced me to retire by age 19. After two nearly made World Record Attempts in 2008, I set a New World Record by visiting all 30 MLB Parks (from 1st to last pitch) in only 24 Calendar Days in the summer 0f 2009. In April of 2012, I established yet another new GWR by visiting all 30 Parks in only 23 Calendar Days! You can see the full schedule at the page of the www.mlbreports.com/gwr-tracker . In 2015, I watched 224 MLB Games, spanning all 30 MLB Parks in 183 Days. Read about that World Record Journey at https://mlbreports.com/183in2015/229sked2015/
