Travel Tuesdays: National Car Rental ‘Rent Rent Reward’ Program An Absolute Good Move

The competition can be fierce for Car Rental Companies, but the best reward companies for cars are National/Alamo/Enterprise followed by Thrifty/Budget and Hertz. Avis doesn't have a great rewards program, but you can get good deals on them for weekend rentals anywhere in the world!

So you are looking to rent cars over several weekends – or weekdays from the end of Aug till the end of January.  You would be crazy not to set up a profile on the National Car Rental Rewards Program “Emerald Club” and then partake in this current deal .

A couple of months ago, after signing up for the latest promotion of rent, rent = reward, I cashed in one of my free rental days at National Car Rental, and made a reservation under the umbrella of this deal.

I gained 300 PTS for the rental (1/2 way to a free car rental – as you only need 600 PTS for a free rental day, which is a free car rental for every two rentals.).  I also gained 250 PTS for buying the prepaid fuel option as a selection (another 250 PTS).

I then took their survey for another 50 PTS, then voila – I earned enough points to qualify for another free day! Read the rest of this entry

A lot of how I have gone about finalizing my baseball tour this year has to do with cost.  Yes I have pared my trip from 229 games to 216 games, but that has more to do with the Canadian Dollar, than increasing my budget in the year.  I could still do the original amount of contests even with some growing expenditures.

Lets start off with buying Greyhound Tickets At 7-Eleven.  I laughed at the notion during 2012, but I soon realized that this service is convenient.  Book a travel itinerary (WEB ONLY FARE), and then simply go to a nearby 7 – Eleven and pay cash.  The register receipts serves as your bus ticket. A year ago I started writing a travel blog series, and I think it is time to resurrect some of those concepts, and apply some of the updated version to the advice I gave.

Just a quick history lesson.

I own an independent Courier business that requires me to log between 3000 – 4000 Miles a month.  At the end of my first 6 years in operation from 2001 – 2007, I was almost in a position of losing money.

Cars I used for business would break down too often, I needed the right fleet insurance on many cars, and the quality of car I could buy was just not conducive to what I went through on a daily basis.

I was spending between 12 – 14 hours a month at the auto garage, and countless of other hours worrying about every mechanical feature of any of the cars I owned.
