FANS OF THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS SHOULD BRACE THEMSELVES FOR THE JANUARY SIGNINGS THAT WILL LIKELY HAPPEN AS MILB DEALS WILL BE HANDED OUT

Oh, man! The fans are restless. There is much disappointment to be found in the land of the Toronto Blue Jays. Things have not gone as hoped this offseason, and the club is left with some major holes to fill. The options available has changed dramatically from when this offseason began and it has taken its toll on those who were pining for big moves. It has caused many to wonder if there is any hope of contending in the AL East in 2017, the dreams of postseason glory fading rather quickly.

The signings of Kendrys Morales and Steve Pearce (Hey! Don’t forget about Gavin Floyd!) have not done enough to alleviate the rage over losing out on Edwin Encarnacion and the potential of losing out on Jose Bautista. Those are holes too big to fill the way the club has tried to. That is not even mentioning the chasm that exists in the Toronto’s bullpen. Simply, many feel that, through their offseason efforts, the club has actually made the team less competitive. Rightly, or wrongly, there is a lot of disappointment.

ONE RUMOR HAS THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS INTERESTED IN MOVING ON FROM JOSE BAUTISTA & TRADING FOR BRETT GARDNER, WHICH JAYS FROM THE COUCH DEBUNKS.

Well, here we go! A new year and some not so new tricks. Apparently, when it comes to the baseball offseason, there is no point in setting resolutions. The same old stuff keeps happening, year after year. This time around, the Toronto Blue Jays may find themselves in the middle of a rumor…again. Though, this one seems a little weak.

According to Ashley Varela of NBC Sports, Toronto is not interested in Jose Bautista anymore because they’ve moved on to coveting Yankees outfielder, Brett Gardner…

A RECENT RUMOR HAS THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS LOOKING TO SIGN A FREE AGENT STARTER AND FLIP ONE OF THEIR CURRENT ONES

If you’re like me, you’re caught somewhere between turkey coma and holiday celebration overload. One can hardly be expected to keep up with everything the Toronto Blue Jays are doing these days. Actually, it is an odd time of year where you can be distracted by family and friends and not really miss much. With that in mind, we wouldn’t blame you if you missed out on the following little gem.

Apparently, Jon Morosi took to the MLB Network to share what he’s been hearing while the rest of us eat and drink ourselves silly…There are two parts to this, really. The first part has the club looking to add a free agent starter…The key part of all of this is what piece they would be looking to flip to another team for (one presumes) outfield help.

ON BLUE JAYS & PLUNDERING THE PIRATES FOR LEFTY RELIEF HELP

JAYS FROM THE COUCH LOOKS AT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE BLUE JAYS EXPLORING SOME OF THE PITTSBURGH PIRATES POSSIBLE BULLPEN TRADE PIECES.

On Monday, JP Morosi tweeted out some nuggets on the Blue Jays longing for lefty help out of the bullpen, mentioning interest in Jerry Blevins and Boone Logan. These are names that have been mentioned on Jays From the Couch before (Blevins here and Logan here), but Morosi went further to whet the mouths of Blue Jays fans with reported interest in recently-crowned World Series Champion, Travis Wood.

A tweet and poll later on Monday afternoon over from Pirates Breakdown led to some interesting thoughts in regards to acquiring lefty relief. The Pirates bullpen is a honey hole of strong left-handed relievers, enough that the team will likely consider moving at least one this offseason. Tony Watson and Antonio Bastardo highlight the list, but Pirates Prospects blogger Tim Williams also mentions Felipe Rivero, Wade Leblanc and Tyler Webb all as possible candidates to be dealt…

Diamondbacks Gaining New Vision for 2017, But With The Old Regime’s Players

Dave Stewart, Tony La Russa and the Arizona Diamondbacks stunned baseball last winter with a handful of bold moves in order to win in 2016. Unfortunately for them, instead of improving from a 79-83 showing in ’15, the club regressed to 69-93 this past season.

The organization will now take a more conservative approach this offseason. Not necessarily because new Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Hazen believes that’s the proper course of action to begin turning the Dbacks around, but he doesn’t have much of a choice.

Hazen made the most impactful move of his first offseason in Arizona by recently hiring Torey Lovullo as manager. It was an important hire because the organization’s 2017 results will already hinge significantly on the success or failure of players the previous regime brought in.

The Dbacks’ new executive is familiar with this kind of situation, though.

With the Boston Red Sox, he watched Dave Dombrowski inherit a roster that was also basically set. But he at least still had the flexibility to make impactful acquisitions, like signing David Price and trading for Craig Kimbrel.

The situation out in the desert is different, and for three major reasons.

OTBB: 10 MLB Teams With a Very Important Offseason Ahead of Them

The 2017 MLB regular season is the furthest thing from our minds right now with the postseason in full swing, but not for the majority of the league.

Most are at home watching the playoffs, trying to figure out how they could be playing baseball next October instead of sitting on their respective couches. The winter months don’t include any on-field action, but the Hot Stove does plenty to keep us warm and occupied until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training.

Before the slate officially gets wiped clean for the coming year, front offices around baseball put in a lot of hours to decide what pieces could make their team a playoff contender. Here are 10 MLB teams who have a very important few months ahead:
