James Shields held Cleveland to 1 run over 7 innings, walking none and earning the 5-1 decision for the White Sox.

Mitch Haniger reached base 3 times, homered twice and led the Mariners past the Angels, 6-3.

Chase Anderson threw 7 innings of 1 hit shutout ball as the Brewers blanked the Cubs, 4-0.

Joc Pederson got 3 hits, including a homer, in the Dodgers 12-5 rout of the Rangers.

Ian Kennedy threw 8 shutout innings, striking out 5 Reds batters along the way. The Royals bullpen blew the lead in the 9th and the 5-1 game in the 10th.

Mike Trout got 3 hits, including two more homers, and drove in all of the Angels runs in their 6-3 defeat in Seattle.

Chris Stratton allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings but he took the hard luck San Francisco loss to Miami, 3-1.

Starling Marte doubled and homered, driving in 3, but the Pirates dropped the 13-8 slugfest to Arizona.
