2014 MLB Team Runs Survivor Through Games Played May.02: MIA/STL Join The 11/11 Club ( 8 Teams Complete Now)

This should turn out to be quite fun.  A lot of gambling establishments have this sort of deal, and it will be fun to see the results.

What Runs Survivor is, a MLB team scoring 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10 or (10+) in different games throughout the course of the season.

Once a club has one of these run totals once, you cross it off and keep going until they complete the 11 different variations.  We are going to keep tracking this category – until all 30 MLB clubs are finished this season!

Last night, both of the Marlins and Cards finished the task.  As far as seeding goes – who goes 7th and 8th place in the finishing, I gave the nod to Miami because they accomplished the feat in 29 games – compared to 30 contests for the reigning NL Champs.

The Fish continue to play inspired baseball at New Marlins Ballpark, running their record to an impressive 13 – 4, while the record on the road remains a brutal 2 – 10.

The Cards on the other hand, nailed down their 11 different run variation amidst a 6 – 5 loss to the lowly Cubs.  Adam Wainwright actually was touched up in the game – after running an excellent string of 25 frames consecutive without allowing a run scored.

The Cardinals have struggled out of the gate on offense to begin the 2014 season.  As such, it has them sitting at just 15 - 15 after the 30 game mark, 6 games behind the NL Central leading Milwaukee.  While they have completed the 11 different run variations, they have many players hitting near the Mendoza Line, and their hitting with Runners in Scoring Position is done quite a bit from the 2013 campaign.

Boston – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Need both a 9 run game and a 10 run game.

Baltimore – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The O’s need a 9 run game to finish. 

Tampa Bay – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Completed 11/11 – Fri Apr.25, 2014: 3rd place (1st in AL)

AL Central

Detroit – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Tigers need to score 9 in a contest

Kansas City – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+)  – Completed Apr.29 – 6th place

Minnesota – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) – Completed 11/11 Saturday Apr.26, 2014 – Tied for 4th place

Chicago White Sox – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The White Sox have scored plenty of runs, but need a 8 run game

Cleveland Indians – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Tribe needs a 9 run game

AL West

Oakland – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Crazily enough the A’s haven’t scored 2, 5 or 9 runs in a game.

Texas – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+)  Texas needs both games with 7 runs and 9 runs.

LA Angels – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Angels need an 8 run game, and remain the only AL club, and part of 2 teams overall not to be blanked in 2014 (COL)

Seattle – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Seattle has been stuck on 9 since acquiring 10 totals faster than any other club in the MLB this year.

Houston – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Astros have not scored above 7 runs all year., so they need 8, 9 and 10 (or 10+) in 3 different results to complete.

NL

NL East

Atlanta –  0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+)  Atlanta seeks a game with 8 men only crossing the dish.

Washington – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Completed 11/11 on Apr.17th, (1st place in the MLB)

NY Mets – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Mets need both an 8 run game, and they have failed to reach double digits in a contest either.

Miami Marlins – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Completed 11/11 on May 3rd. (7th place finish based on 29 games played vs Cards 30 games to do it)

Philadelphia Phillies – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The ‘Phigtins’ are among a lot of clubs seeking just the 8 run game result.

NL Central

St. Louis Cardinals – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Completed 11/11 on May 3rd. (8th place finish based on 30 games played vs Marlins 29 games to do it)

Cincinnati Reds – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Reds need a 9 run game.

Milwaukee Brewers – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+)  The Brew Crew also needs a 9 run contest

Chicago Cubs – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Cubs just need to score 10 runs or more in a game once.  Not bad for an offensively challenged squad

Pittsburgh Pirates – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The third NL Central team to need just a 9 run game.

NL West

LA Dodgers – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Dodgers need a 10 run game or more.

SF Giants – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) Completed 11/11 – Wed Apr.23, 2014 – Finished 2nd place

Arizona Diamondbacks – 0. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) – Diamondbacks have played more games than any other MLB club, yet they stil need a 9 and 10 run game.

San Diego Padres – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Pod Squad hasn’t scored even 7 runs this year, and are the clubhouse trailers of needing 4 more scenarios to accomplish this mission.

Colorado Rockies – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10+) The Rox are scoring at an exponential rate, yet have not scored 7 runs in a singular game. 

They are also the only NL team left not to be blanked.  2nd left in the contest with the LA Angels – for the 2014 MLB Shutout Survivor.  My cabbage is on them to win that mark.

Miami is emerging as one of the top offenses so far in 2014.  Giancarlo Stanton, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Garrett Jones all have hit 5 HRs or more, and Stanton leads the NL (tied for the MLB lead overall with Jose Abreu) - while Casey McGehee is 11th in NL RBI - with 19 Knocked In so far.  Last night, they completed their 1st game of scoring 6 runs in a game.
