The Royals and A’s opened the post season with one of the wildest and craziest and for Oakland fans heartbreaking game in recent years.

Right after the game, I walked out of The Dutch Goose in Menlo Park and recorded my thoughts and emotions. Some negative but a lot more positive.

It is a “Break your heart” episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

You want to make a lot of money? Take my predictions for the playoffs, bet against ALL of them and make a fortune.

The Giants shutout the Pirates and at least one Bay Area team gets to move forward.

Meanwhile I talk pronunciations, Division Series and wishing that the Chronicle’s Sporting Green was printed on green paper again.

I recorded today’s podcast from the center field bleachers of PetCo Park in San Diego California, home of the Padres.

That’s right, I was in the ONLY Southern California baseball stadium not hosting a playoff game today.

I discussed the underrated misery of San Diego fans, the predictability of the Tigers’ bullpen failure, the insanity of the Royals playoff games and my love for a Quadruple Header in baseball today.

It is a Staying Classy in San Diego episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Nelson Cruz, Mike Moustakas, Jason Vargas, Andrew Miller, Miguel Cabrera, Jered Weaver and Chris Ianetta all owned October last night.

Yesterday I said jokingly that the final score of the Cardinals and Dodgers game with Clayton Kershaw and Adam Wainwright pitching would be 10-9.

It is one of my FEW predictions that actually came true.

The Dodgers and Nationals blew critical games, the Tigers bullpen is a joke and the Angels are showing why the best record in the regular season doesn’t mean crap.

Plus I remember my wedding day on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Matt Carpenter, Kevin Gausman, Eric Hosmer, Jake Peavy, Joe Panik, Delmon Young, Marco Gonzales, Yordano Ventura, Miguel Cabrera, A.J. Ellis, Kole Calhoun, Matt Shoemaker and Bryce Harper all owned October last night.

The Giants and Nationals played 18 innings, which means I could take my wife out for an anniversary dinner, come back and not miss the biggest highlights of the day!

I praise and learn how to pronounce Yusmeiro Peit!

It is a romantic episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Matt Kemp, Zack Greinke, Buster Posey, Yusmeiro Petit, Jordan Zimmermann, Anthony Rendon, Lance Lynn and Matt Carpenter all owned October last night.

ALLISON LONG/The Kansas City Star

It is safe to say that the Royals are happy to be here. Just “Here” keeps changing. Just happy to be a Wild Card team means just happy to be in the ALCS.

Think your team is building for the World Series at the trade deadline? Think again

That and more on this episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Bud Norris, Nelson Cruz, James Shields, Lorenzo Cain, David Price, J.D. Martinez and Erick Aybar all owned October last night.

I did not think Don Mattingly was making smart decisions leading up to Game 4 of the Division Series. I talked before and then after the game about my thoughts.

The Cardinals and the Giants cement their reputations as the teams of the decade.

One reason they both made it this far was some questionable bullpen management from the opposing manager.

It is a dynasty episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Matt Adams, Pat Neshek, Hunter Pence, Ryan Vogelsong, Carl Crawford, Bryce Harper and yes Clayton Kershaw all owned October last night.

The Cardinals and the Giants are meeting in the NLCS again, and a lot of people are not happy with that match up.

Perhaps if the 2012 NLCS featured an iconic moment, walk off homer or thrilling Game 7, this would be considered a welcomed rematch between two terrific recent champions.

I haven’t had baseball for 2 days? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

The ALCS starts today. What do I want? I want a 7 game epic series with a mindboggling finale. What will happen? I am guessing a Baltimore party.

The Royals outslugged the Orioles?

The Orioles outran the Royals?

The Royals have home field advantage after winning their FOURTH extra inning post season game?

How about instead of trying to predict this post season, we just let it unfold whatever way it does. Nobody has been able to predict it yet!

I recorded today’s podcast while driving past every ballpark the Giants have called home in San Francisco.

It is going with the flow episode of The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

Fox Sports 1 did some creative work in their broadcast of the NLCS last night. It shows that maybe some different thinking can be used in showing baseball as MLB embraces the digital age.

This afternoon they could win the AL pennant.

Why do the Royals remind me of The Cosby Show and Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

It makes sense to me.

Also I lament waiting so long for more baseball, my rental car is wonky and THIS ARTICLE from The National Pastime Museum gives us yet another reason to celebrate Hank Aaron.

It may be difficult to predict who becomes a post season hero. But one thing is certain… he will be picked up under the radar during the season by the San Francisco Giants.

Every team that made the playoffs has desire.

Every team that made the playoffs has a sense of camaraderie.

At this point at the eve of the World Series, making predictions is futile. It is all coming down to chance.

Take a look at the map above. It is from an ESPN survey of baseball fans asking them which team they are rooting for. The blue states are rooting for the Royals fans. The red ones are pulling for the San Francisco Giants.

That’s pretty cut and dry who most people are rooting for.

The Giants are indeed the bad guys in the 2014 World Series. Relish it, Giants Fans.

Also, what the hell was going on with Tim Lincecum? Is there a behind the scenes rift?

I needed a new Giants hat for Game 3 of the World Series, which your pal Sully will be attending. So I went to the Giants dugout store and picked out a winner.

Afterwards I had some thoughts about Game 2 and maybe not using Hunter Strickland any more.

Plus, I did NOT get this ugly hat!

Today is the second anniversary of the podcast.

For two straight years I have recorded 365 original podcasts a year. What drives me? The fact that baseball has never let me down nor has stopped giving me thrills.

Baseball allows me to live in the past, present and future all at once. And later tonight I will be doing a first for me: I will be attending a World Series Game

Tonight is Game 6 of the World Series.

Those words can bring up so many different memories. Who will be the Reggie Jackson, Carlton Fisk, Don Denkinger, Bill Buckner, Kirby Puckett, Joe Carter, Tom Glavine, Josh Beckett, David Freese or Nelson Cruz of the night?

Meanwhile I all but beg Joe Maddon to take over the Dodgers.

It could be a memorable night that is previewed on The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.

It is October 31, and there can be no scarier costume to wear in Kansas City than Madison Bumgarner.

His post season was remarkable of course. Emotionally, it also mirrored what Bob Gibson did in 1968.
