Stanton + Cruz Take Over NL + AL Leads For HRs: 3 Hit Multi HRs FRI – 0 HR Streaks For Sat

It is scary to only think the Giancarlo Stanton is just 25 years of age. This man is asserting himself as the premiere HR hitter in the National League in 2014 with 14 HRs so far,. The Marlins OF has also netted 47 RBI. and 114 Total Bases, both of which are NL leading. Teams have already intentionally walked him 9 times, which is another league leading category for him. Miami is 25 – 24 on the season, and they owe Stanton a huge amount of thanks for why. Miami has also hit 48 HRs in 26 home games so far this year.

Giancarlo Stanton (don’t call him Mike, even though everyone wants to be like him) had his 3rd Multi HR game of the year, and took over sole possession of 1st place in the NL HR Race.
Stanton’s teammate Garrett Jones also did yard two times (7th teammates of 2014 to accomplish the feat).
Even though these Marlins did this, Mark Reynolds destroyed 2 baseballs over the fence himself, to help the Brewers overcome the 4 HR barrage by the Fish.
Given up for dead by many clubs, Reynolds also pole vaulted himself into 4th place in the HR Race.

Nelson Cruz has been consistent for the Birds all season, with 5 different HR streaks of 2 games to pace the offense. Last night he clubbed his 15th HR of the campaign to tie Jose Abreu. At a 1 YR deal worth $8 MIL he is a bargain, but he is also increasing his odds for a big pay day on the Free Agent Market after this season. Cruz also leads the AL with 43 RBI, and features a 3 slash line of .286/.355/.589. If you add up his 2013 and 2014, he has crushed 42 HRs and 119 RBI in his last 154 Games Played. His efforts have helped Baltimore to sit 2nd in the AL East with a 24 – 22 record, just 1.5 GB Toronto
Nelson Cruz continued his assault on AL pitchers this season, with his 15th HR last night. By doing so, he caught DL residing Jose Abreu for 1st in AL HRs right now.
While Cruz had to have been mad he didn’t take the $14.1 MIL offer from the Rangers last year, and not anyone was offering anything in the realm of that per annum, this man is going to hit this winter’s open market with awesome numbers.
Chris Davis might not have hit a HR in consecutive days, nor hit a HR for 2 straight games, or currently be in the top for AL HRs, but he is already only 5 HRs behind the top 5 for AL Roundtrippers despite a long DL stint, and he could thrive quickly towards that list by the ALL – Star Break..
Today is one of the rare days in baseball where not one MLB’er is carrying a Multi HR streak into action.
Speaking of Marlins HRs this year, they have clubbed 48 long balls in just 26 home games, where they barely averaged 1 Tater Trot per contest last year.
In Runs Survivor, the Brewers finally scored 9 runs in a game, becoming the 18th team in the MLB to score 11 different run variations from 0 – 10 in a season. To see those teams that have completed click here.

Many of us at the Reports thought the Yankees were crazy not to re-sign this guy considering he could play 1B and 3B – while provide some serious pop. This man clubbed 2 HRs in a game last night, and now has 11 jacks on the year, good for 4th in the NL. Reynolds, who strikes out a pile, still has 6 straight campaigns with 20+ HRs heading into this year, and now is well on his way to adding a 7th. Reynolds has a .755 OPS in 138 AB during 2014. He has added 54 SO to that fold. Still a bargain at a 1 YR deal worth $2 MIL.

Garrett Jones has been instrumental in helping to protect Giancarlo Stanton. Last night both of these individuals went yard twice for the Miami squad. After a slow start to the year, that involved a ton of strikeouts, Jones has raised his 3 slash line to .286/.353/.518 on the year – with 8 HRs and 19 RBI. When you add his 13 Doubles and 1 Triple to the mix, he is on pace for over 70 Extra Base knocks, outstanding production for GI Jones!
