The Angels are holding their own in the AL West, and have watched as other teams in the Division have suffered massive pitching injuries. This team should be in the hunt all year for the playoffs. Mike Scioscia can also be thankful his team is playing better too. In 2012 and 2013, the club struggled mightily in the 1st 6 - 7 weeks into the year. It cost them a playoff spot in 2012, even with a late charge, and last year was a losing season, which is a rarity in the Scioscia era.

The Angels have been flashing lumber all year.  Despite me railing on them last week, it is also a respect factor for them having not being Shutout at that point.

On Friday night, the Rays finally bageled the Halo’s, with a 3 – 0 loss to Chris Archer and the Bullpen of Tampa Bay.  LA returned a blanking to the Rays on Saturday.

The team only managed 4 hits in the game.  Nevertheless, the lasted more 5 more games this year than the Colorado Rockies.

Los Angeles is in 2nd place in the AL West, and are looking to get Josh Hamilton back shortly.

I am still not relinquishing my request not to have Raul Ibanez hit 4th in the lineup.  I wouldn’t play him as a starter to begin with, and leave the guy to Pinch Hit duty late in games.

Scioscia has been one of the winningest managers of all time in the MLB. Much scrutiny was fired his way after the team finished with a 78 - 84 record in the 2013 season. The club has brought in several Free Agents in the last 3 years. This season may be a great chance for him to establish a Hall of Fame bid as coach - if he can guide his squad to a World Series Appearance. I am sure Oakland will be a thorn in the Angels side all year.

C.J. Cron is a suitable DH replacement, but that option will be made more available when Hamilton returns to the lineup.

Efren Navarro also hasn’t looked out of place swinging the stick, and the team is also waiting for the pending return of Kole Calhoun.

While the team wins nothing for being the last team to score 0 in a game, they must also be feeling better about being a few games over .500 – when 2012 and 2013 they were buried about 10 games below that threshold at this time in the season.

Colorado was the last NL team to be blanked, and Texas knocked out the most teams, giving 6 teams the oust with their Pitching Staff.

The Rockies continue to lead the MLB in Runs Scored and BA. The club managed to be the last NL team to be Shutout and gave the Angels a good run for their money. Ironically, the Rangers ended their non Shutout streak. Texas finished 3rd in this competition.
