Earning 1/2 WOBs:
Alen Hanson reached base 3 times, including a homer, but the Giants lost to the Pirates, 6-5.
John Hicks went 3 for 4 with a homer and a pair of RBI as the Tigers dropped the second game of a double header to the Mariners, 9-5. In the opener, Hicks singled and doubled in Detroit’s 4-3 win.
Michael Wacha threw 6 strong innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run but did not factor into the decision as the Padres walked off against the Cardinals in extra innings, 2-1.
Doug Fister pitched into the 7th, holding the Astros to 3 runs while walking none. It would not be enough as the Rangers bullpen let the game get out of hand to a 6-1 final.
