Okay..It has been a trying month here at the MLB Reports..Damaged electronics, power outages, I moved (while working every single day) – and all of this in the eye of the Postseason. But we are finally 100% back, and all systems at go.
First off, I wanted to acknowledge Sully for his incredible work on his 20 minute daily podcast, and his ironman streak for a couple of different things.
Sully has done a brand new podcast every day for 732 days straight. That is incredible to say the least. We are ecstatic to have partnered with him for all but about 3 months of that time. If you don’t currently listening to it, you are missing out.
Paul Sullivan “Sully” is a walking historical book on the game of baseball, but he presents it in a way that anyone can be a fan of the game.
My girlfriend can even easily spend 20 minutes a day downloading his show on Soundcloud, because he makes it easy to follow – and entertaining.
He doesn’t beat you over the head with stats and spends a lot of time telling stories on the narrative, or just his personal views.. It is a gift to be able to translate the game to any specter of age or gender in audio fashion for 20 minutes a day.
Subscribe to The Sully Baseball Daily Podcast.
Another thing Sully does, is watch every single game of the 2430 game regular season schedule, and all of the playoffs.
At the completion of the 2014 Postseason, he will have listed a daily MVP for the AL and NL Games for 2 years straight as well.
Much like his podcast, he posts these articles every day there was baseball the previous day of action.
You are talking about 200+ more posts per year. The guy doesn’t miss a day. That kind of devotion is and will become even more legendary as the season’s pile up.
Thank you Sully, looking forward to many more years of featuring your work on our website.
So because Paul Sullivan does these baseball posts every day, we are guaranteed at least an article of the Daily MVP, and also his podcast.
For those of you who have been lucky enough to become a follower, spread the word out there so we can make this daily show a huge paying gig for Sully one day.
As for our other staff. it has been a year since we hired on our Chief Writer ‘Hunter Stokes”..While he hasn’t had a great track record with the post season picks (as a lot of us haven’t), he has been ‘complete nails’ on handicapping value in baseball betting.
Go to our categories and click on “Gambling 101”. All of the information we have provided has had some relevancy this year. We will both cash out $1000 profit each if the Giants win the World Series, and over $1200 each if Kansas city wins.
if you don’t wish to go back that far, our website also predicted the best time to bet the World Series for each club. We started out betting the Giants at +100, saying that Madison Bumgarner pitching 2 times should have made San Francisco th favorite.
From the end of Game #1, we told you to take the +170 and bet on the KC Royals to come back on the Giants to make it a series.
Today’s odds are KC -270 to win the series, and +225 for the Giants. The value again is to play the Giants. Tonight they are favored to win against Royals (Ryan Vogelsong-108 vs Jason Vargas -102) Also you have to factor in Bumgarner pitching in Game #5. My heart is telling me the Giants will win the next 2 games of the series.
+210 is a fantastic value play here. The Royals should drop to the underdog if they lose this game by tomorrow. Could be SF -120, KC +100.
If you want to get creative, you can even bet $55 on both KC to win the game tonight (Pays $108.92), or bet the Giants to win the World Series – same as the game profit for KC tonight – $53.92 @ SF +225 to win the Series (Pays $175.43).
Vargas and CO. win, you break even with the money wagered tonight, and if the Giants come back from a 3 – 1 deficit, you can win another $175.93
Should Vogelsong and CO. win, then you are tied 2 – 2 in the series, with Bumgarner chucking tomorrow night. Total investment is $108.92 to win $175.93 ($67.01 profit).
Yes Kansas City could win 2 of 3 in games 5 – 7, but I am betting they won’t. I believe their Series to win, lies tonight with a victory.
The reason I say the odd is so favorable, is because the swing is so heavy on the Royals if they lose tonight. Giants are at home after all, facing soft tossing Jason Vargas.
Vogelsong has also pitched to a 2.16 ERA in 6 Game Starts in his playoff resume. He always comes up big when the club needs him.
So the MLB Reports will continue to write gambling articles for the coming years. I was not sure of the concept, but it has been proved successful this year.
We took a new approach in 2014, with holding onto just a handful of writers, and a handful more of contributors. In 2013 we had about 50 writers and podcasters, and are running about 25% of that capacity now.
The trouble with having such a big nest of writers is all the time editing, teaching a making the people aware of how we post our articles and such.
I am truly thankful to all of the hundred or so people who have written articles for us, and we have been represented all over the country by every representative. Their efforts are forever in our archives, and we are proud of their work.
If I could do this job full time, I would have no problems at all looking after that kind of format. But I work 70 hours a week at my real job, and fit in the Reports 24/7/365 at any spare second I can find.
This website has been one of the biggest undertakings I ever had tackled. I have sacrificed a lot of time spent on other sports I used to handicap a lot in the NFL and NHL. Now, I am allocating some of my week to those entity’s, however my main focus is still with baseball.
In going forward, we are not the website you generally want to follow for quick news bites. We write thought provoking blogs on team concepts generally that are more like magazine articles.
We are going to focus a ton on Team Payrolls, Roster Trees and Organizational Depth Charts. In the coming years, I will be able to update the information a hell of a lot faster that I do now…But if you are in a crunch for immediate viewing, I always would suggest our partner http://www.prosportsrosters.com..
For all of the Rosters, Depth Charts, State of the Unions and Salaries Posts that we do, please visit our dedicated page link here.
The man leading that website (Jeff Kleiner) tallies 4 or 5 hours on MLB Baseball Payroll + Org Depth Charts everyday. We have all of his links on our page here.. Get to know this website.
Tommy John Surgery is also a favorite topic of ours. If I had all the time in the world to devote to it, i would love to chronicle every player on the list (with before and after results) – with a detailed look of it. We believe in the concept so much, we sponsor Tommy John’s player page at http://www.baseballreference.com
Another facet I loved doing this year was MLB Runs Scored Survivor and MLB Shutout Survivor 2014. I will bring those both back in 2015.
Shutout Survivor are teams that are blanked 1 – 30 in order they score 0 runs in a game.
MLB Runs Scored Survivor has 11 different Run variations from 0 – 10 or 10+ runs plated. As the games go on, we chart when a team crosses one of them off the list. The Yankees lost this year’s contest, while the Giants were 1st to complete their list.
I am not going to bring back the HR charts. As much as I love doing the HR streaks for consecutive games, and Multi-HR affairs for the whole year, it is simply too much work for this guy.
We will be adding a post every time a no-hitter is thrown, (as the last time a team has thrown one, with the player and date). Thanks again to Sully, for always updating these as they happen. I will do the same for the last MLB Cycle for each club.
Next season I will also be an Ironman myself, with attending at least 1 park (lots of times 2 parks) per day of MLB Baseball, starting opening night, and concluding the last day of the regular season. I will not be attending the ALL – Star Game festivities in Cincinnati (unless someone wants to front me the ticket).
It will be well over 200+ games that I attend. I am spending my life savings in pursuit of this quest. I am going to do a great deal of work for the trip.
I am going to be putting forth the biggest fan trip ever to Major League Baseball stadiums in one year, and will be huge on social media throughout the trek. Interact with me, or meet me at the parks as I make my way through the 30 MLB Parks.
It will be my 4th time completing all of the parks in one calendar year – since 2008. Now it will be the 1st time I am not scrambling like a madman to do it under a month, like I did with the other 3 occasions.
Starting next week, I will be completing all of the teams Pitching Staff Roster Trees that I have failed to finish, so that all of the Hitters and Pitcher’s trees have been done since about July. I will be updating them again in February of 2015.
I then will move onto the Payrolls for all 30 MLB clubs Hunter Stokes will have his ear to the grindstone on Free Agent Signings, betting articles, and anything else that makes him tick as a writer.
So expect an influx on the amount of articles we post once the World Series is over. The truth is a lot of the team’s fanbases check out for a while after their team is officially eliminated all the way until the season championship has been finally decided.
When we are finally done with the 2014 campaign, bring on the 2015 year!
