LA Dodgers Eliminated From Shutout Survivor – Leaving TEX/LAA + COL Left

Cliff Lee was downright filthy last in blanking the Dodgers. It was the 1st 0 runs game for the NL Los Angeles team, thus eliminating them from this competition. The only NL team left is the Colorado Rockies, who of course play in Coors Field.

The only NL team left is the Colorado Rockies, who of course play in Coors Field as their home ballpark. The Phillies have received decent power from Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and now Ryan Howard has hit homers in back to back games, pacing the Philly to a 9 – 10 start, with Cole Hamels coming back.

Eliminated Last Night are the Dodgers.

After the games on Apr.20th, there are 27 teams taken out of this competition.  The AL West still has 2 teams remaining in this and the NL has 1  All Divisions are eliminated except for those two.

Should be a great contest to see who can be the last team to score zero runs in a game.

The Angels were Shutout through 7 Innings by Tanner Roark and the Washington Nationals. That is before Raul Ibanez brought his thunderous stick out to PH in the 8th, clubbing a 3 run double - and leading Los Angeles to a 4 - 2 win. Incredibly Ibanez has 3 HRs and 15 RBI in the teams 1st 19 GP, despite a 3 Slash of .161/.224./.339 at the age of 43. The Angels brought their record to 9 - 10 for the year. They continue an Interleague Series in Washington today.

3 teams yet to be blanked:  Rockies,  Rangers and Angels.

AL Central

Texas opened the scoring in the 1st inning, when Shin-Soo Choo homered off of Dan Straily as the leadoff man - in a matchup between the AL West Leaders. The Texas squad will need to play the next few games (perhaps longer) with Choo, who is nursing injuries. Who will be the next guy to step up on injury relief like Kevin Kouzmanoff has (1.038 OPS and 10 RBI in filling in for Beltre.) It could be Michael Choice.

The Rockies wrap up a series versus San Francisco before heading to Dodgers Stadium later this week. As the NL Winner already for this competition, can they outduel the Angels and Rangers for this contest?

About chuckbooth3023

I played competitive baseball until 18 years old and had offers to play NCAA Division 1 University Baseball at Liberty University. Post-concussion symptoms from previous football and baseball head injuries forced me to retire by age 19. After two nearly made World Record Attempts in 2008, I set a New World Record by visiting all 30 MLB Parks (from 1st to last pitch) in only 24 Calendar Days in the summer 0f 2009. In April of 2012, I established yet another new GWR by visiting all 30 Parks in only 23 Calendar Days! You can see the full schedule at the page of the www.mlbreports.com/gwr-tracker . In 2015, I watched 224 MLB Games, spanning all 30 MLB Parks in 183 Days. Read about that World Record Journey at https://mlbreports.com/183in2015/229sked2015/
