DAY DATE
So you think July was weird, well the last 2 months plus a little of October should shape up to be weirder. I am sitting at Camden Yards last night – and my buddy Scott tells me he can’t make the game tonight – because he missed his flight on the West Coast.
I told him the odds of having something happen to you for the traveling the whole year go up exponentially when you are on the road. I lose stuff pretty routinely. Mostly I can recover these items, but some I like to wonder if “Casper, the un-friendly ghost” got his grubby little mitts on.
We got to chatting, and he said he was going to be Indianapolis on Wednesday, Aug.12/2015. I am in Chicago already that day, and immediately wrapped my head around a latest “Manfish maneuver”. I will spare you the long version of this, but it kind of goes like this.
– I lost my Mets ticket for Monday, Aug.10 game.
– The Pirates were chosen to play the ESPN Sunday Night Game on Sunday Aug.09, 2015 (8:08), where it happens to be that I will be in Washington that morning.
– I always have a plan B, and had booked several $1 MEGABUS journeys from Washington to Philadelphia, and it just so happens I can round-up my long-term rental vehicle and hit the road to the District first/then head to PNC Park for the night-cap that Sunday.
Since I was worried about a trip to New York for that Aug.10th game, followed by a drive up to Buffalo, then take a Greyhound Bus to Toronto for my only visit to the Rogers Center this year, I wasn’t sure if I were going to add money just to add the Pirates game. But with back to back games at US Cellular Field now, on Monday Aug.10, and Tuesday Aug.11, this is feasible.
My schedule now looks like this for that stretch Sunday Aug.09 – Saturday Aug.15, 2015
Sunday Aug.09/2015 – Nationals Park in Washington – `1:35/PNC Park in Pittsburgh – 8:08 (Drive rental car to Pittsburgh)
Monday Aug.10/2015 – US Cellular Field in Chicago – 7:10 (will park my car rental at O’Hare for 2 days at $7 per day rate)
Tuesday Aug.11/2015 – US Cellular Field in Chicago – 7:10
Wednesday Aug.12/2015 – Wrigley Field in Chicago – 7:05 (will park my car for 2 days in downtown Chicago for $27 total)
Thursday Aug.13, 2015 – Target Field in Minnesota – 12:10 (Taking MEGABUS in from previous night, watch the game, taking MEGABUS back to Chicago afterwards.)
Friday Aug.14, 2015 – Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 7:07 (NYY @ TOR) (Will be meeting Scott downtown Chicago at 630 AM (He is taking a MEGABUS into the windy city from Indianapolis.) I have a Canadian rental car, so it is like going home for me in a way. Also will be hitting up Tim Horton’s with free gift cards for dining. After the game, Scott and I will drive straight to New Jersey.
Saturday Aug.15, 2015 – Orioles Park At Camden Yards in Baltimore – 7:05 – We will drive the 110 Miles from Sicklerville, N.J. to arrive at Camden Yards. It is a cool thing too – because it is Scott’s 30th MLB Park this year, and I get to be there for it. I will still have yet to see Dodger Stadium and Turner Field on this day.
After the game, I will take Scott to BWI airport, where I will rent him a car with my free car rental days there. For those that don’t know this yet, I am able to rent a car airport – airport anywhere in America in 24 hours (free of a one-way drop fee). I am also allowed 4 additional drivers as an “Executive Elite” Member at National’s “Emerald Club”. Scott will drive his car the 10 hours back to Indianapolis.
Did I mention, by doing this, I help Scott erase his extra money spent to get himself out of his missed flight, I will save $50 in the process, and add my games list from 216 – 217. That is why we call them “Manfish Maneuvers”. That is more money in the kitty for stuff that is really important like beer.
Trip Stats:
Projected budget – $22500 , I am plus $125 as of right now where I thought I would be financially.)
Hot Dogs eaten – 52
Beers Consumed – 54
Energy Drinks – 127 (including coffee)
Miles traveled thus far by all modes (51500 Miles). Before you say that is a lot, I did that many by air in my 2012 World Record Streak.
Interviews TV.Radio.Internet.Podcast.Newsprint – 73 total interviews (70 since June.01.)
Home team record is now astoundingly good at 78 – 58 (.574 win %). Not bad when you consider that CBP in Philadelphia has the most games watched so far.

Trip Pictures July.22 – July.29/2015

My brothers and nephew and I at the famous Citi Field for a tail end of the Subway Doubleheader July.23rd, 2015

My Nephew Jake made a friend at the game. He wants to be a police officer if he is not a hockey player first.

Jake, who is 11, with my oldest brother Trent, has been to four parks already this year in Philly, Washington and both New York Parks.

MY brother Ken and his wife Helen, myself and ‘the great’ Kat Scicluna – all enjoying gluten all day here.

Kat is a Yankees fan like me, but today the Mets were playing. We will have games later in the year at Yankee Stadium.

So Kat is featuring a Mets giveaway boat hat – which is a good idea when you are in the sun at Citi Field. I am carrying 3 Curtis Granderson Fatheads in that red bag. This is a rare photo without me having a hat on.
