Note from Chuck Booth: I am attempting to bring the history for each of the 30 MLB Franchises into a 5 part series that will focus on 1. The teams history. 2. The hitters 3. The pitchers. 4. The Teams Payroll going into 2013 and 5. The Ball Park that they play in. The stadium articles were all comprised of the best experts or guides around this past spring and are already all up for each of the 30 clubs. Be sure to check this page for new updates.

Only the 30 MLB Franchises that are still active will be written about. We will however, chronicle those teams that have moved from city to city.

Fridays at the Reports will be known as “Franchise Fridays,” where I will be posting a new Historical Team piece each week. The purpose of this series is to educate people on the teams history, plus the top hitters and pitchers that have had made significant contributions to each Baseball Club. For the hitters a baseline criteria of: 1000 Games Played, 1000 Hits, 100 HRs or a Career .280 Average or better for a 6-7 year stretch will probably get you there. For shorter stints with the club, a player would have to have had an incredible impact on the franchise as well as the League. I would be looking for Playoff Appearances, ALL-Star Appearances, Rookie of The Year Contention, MVP Contention and anytime a player led the league in a category.
For the Pitchers, I will be looking for at least 50 Wins (or near a .600 Win PCTG) for Starters under 50 wins. Also the guy can’t be too much under .500 for consideration For Relievers, I am looking for around 100 Saves for closers and at least 300 Appearances for Relievers with an ERA of around 3.00. Again, if a guy has been a huge impact in any season where he led the league or was in serious contention for hardware, I will probably put the guy on the list for the team. (Think Roger Clemens and his 2 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays as a good example of this.) So far I have completed all but the parks for the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals franchises if, so please scroll down to the National League East Division. I will be working my way through the Toronto Blue Jays Franchise starting with their team’s history tomorrow. All 2013 Team Payrolls and Contracts Going Forward will be done by Spring Training. Each one of the team’s payroll structure will be written as per the time of the posting.
I Will also detail the Baseball Parks the teams have played in, (including a detailed 30 Park Report next summer that will rank the 30 Active MLB Parks versus each other by a dozen Ball Park Chasers that have visited all active 30 Parks.) There will be 8 categories to rate each park: (Appearance, Park Atmosphere, Food, Accessibility, Tickets, Intangibles, Historical Relevance and Value.) We hope to have lots of reader reaction to these articles next year and encourage participation on the findings of the study.
To begin each Franchise off, I will be going through the 2013 Payroll and Contracts of each clubs. This will take a look at:
Teams Payroll 2013 in Millions Signed Players, Club Options for 2013, Team Options, Mutual Options, Vesting Options, Arbitration Eligible Players, Super ’2′ Arbitration Eligible Players, Pre-Arbitration Eligible Players/Entry Level Contracts and Unrestricted Free Agents that were on the 2012 Roster. Also a look to what the team can do in 2013 Free Agency Market.

On Deck: Colorado Rockies Mid-January
In the Hole: Miami Marlins in February
