Odds To Win The 2013 MLB World Series, Plus Odds For Oakland And Detroit In Game #5 Of the ALDS

Today will be the last day you can receive such a decent odd for the Boston club to win the World Series at +210. Whether the A's win, and the Odds will drop to the -150 range, or Detroit will win - and their odd pretty much stays the same. If you were the Red Sox - who would you rather play? I got to think they would want to play the Tigers, because Detroit is not hitting the ball, and Oakland makes for a far trip out West, and don't give those A's any momentum from knocking off Detroit!

Odds To Win the World Series:

Boston Red Sox +210

LA Dodgers +230

St. Louis Cardinals +360

Detroit Tigers +500

Oakland Athletics +900

Verlander heads into tonight's game featuring a 3 - 0 ALDS Career Record, with a 2.17 ERA over 6 Game Starts. This same man threw a shoutout in Game #5 last season to knock off Oakland. In Game #2, the guy Struckout 11 in his 7 IP versus the A's. Sonny Gray is a formidable adversary, however the odds of -110, versus +100 for Oakland is just too hard to ignore. The Ace Pitcher for Detroit has thrown 16 Innings of Shutout baseball versus Oakland – since game #5 of last years ALDS.

Detroit Tigers -110 (Justin Verlander) vs Oakland Athletics (+100) (Sonny Gray)

Best valued ODD: Detroit to win tonight

Believe me, I would love to be wrong on this game tonight, I respect the hell out of the Athletics franchise, and did pick them to win the Series, before it started.

I have put myself in a position of strength, because I bet the A’s to win the Series and the World Series, at high odds, so this bet is purely a hedge.

I think the Athletics missed a golden chance to sew this series up on the game Tuesday.

When I initially forecasted this matchup, I was not sure that Verlander would be his dominant self either.

I am shocked at the ODDS offered here.  -110 for the Detroit is a super odd to wager on.  They were -150 Favorites to start the series, and now that they have forced a Game #5, they have a massive experience advantage on the Pitching matchup.

I think the world of Bob Melvin, however I think that starting the Rookie over Bartolo Colon is not wise.  The big 40 Year Old man has several years of Post Season experience, and should have been throwing tonight.

I can see Colon piggybacking this game anyway, so lets see how it plays out, however it should have been flip flopped.

Sonny Gray has great hit and miss stuff, yet I think that it is a different scenario when you are put into a do or die situation.

Odds To Win the NLCS

Los Angeles -140 vs St. Louis Cardinals +120

The Cardinals are the model NL Franchise, and earned their 3rd straight NLCS appearance last night when they defeated the Pirates 6 - 1. The 'Zombie Cards" are incredible in elimination games. I would still say to pick the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Series, however the value is not worth betting. The Cardinals will lose in 7 Games in my opinion, as I believe the Starting Pitching tandem of Greinke and Kershaw will be the difference. Don't bet on this Series though.

About chuckbooth3023

I played competitive baseball until 18 years old and had offers to play NCAA Division 1 University Baseball at Liberty University. Post-concussion symptoms from previous football and baseball head injuries forced me to retire by age 19. After two nearly made World Record Attempts in 2008, I set a New World Record by visiting all 30 MLB Parks (from 1st to last pitch) in only 24 Calendar Days in the summer 0f 2009. In April of 2012, I established yet another new GWR by visiting all 30 Parks in only 23 Calendar Days! You can see the full schedule at the page of the www.mlbreports.com/gwr-tracker
